I don't think its Richard Madeley? ( Hair cut 100)

Pretty sure Pino did play on TTS - just looked at an old mimed performance of the song (on TV show Razmatazz) and Pino's part of the band with his fretless 'ray. -
Impromptu Newcastle bass bash - Precision Special (PICS)

Me too -
I also have an elite (a white one) and love the stock preamp/pickup configuration. Loads of tonal range. Only thing i'm not overly keen on is the pick up blend which doesn't seem to have any subtlety to it.

Superb. One of my favourite songs, none the worse for being deconstructed. Nice of XTC to send him the tracks too.

I play my squire classic vibe 60s P with flats through my very clean sounding Phil Jones rig. Still sounds gutsy like a classic P and suits the blues trio nicely.

Yeah, saw her set. Great voice and she knows how to work a crowd.😁

Seems a lot better this time through the telly. As an example, George Ezra's bass player is nice and prominent in the mix. He's playing a Lakland jazz and Fender P mainly. Great band all round.

Great band. If they'd had a different name I think they would have been a lot bigger. He's a real talent and his/Anna's voices blended brilliantly. Recommended listening is 'first love, last rites. Some fantastic tunes (including tasty bass playing). Tidy drumming from pat mastellotto too.

Playing covers - how accurate do you need to be?
Sandypjb replied to Nicko's topic in General Discussion
Relieved to read most of the points raised in the posts above. One thing I keep reminding myself is that when the track was originally recorded, the bass player (let's suppose it's Flea) could play exactly what he wanted in any given bar - after all it's his bass line. Or he's made a mistake but the producer leaves it in because he and the other band members like it. There's us poor souls trying to play it note-for-note 20 years later. I wonder how many original bass players hear their song (bass line) and laugh at the attempts to copy their noodling.😁 -
Thanks Chris, I'll check that gear out. I've obviously read a lot of separate threads on here about the Tonehammers and Barefaced cabs and I'd bet they'd be a good options.

A lot of the debates here on BC are about sound vs practicality. I've got a Phil Jones Suitcase combo + 4B ext cab which I have been thinking all along was great. Until that is I played through the Ampeg gear - I'm hearing sounds from my bass I've never heard before (in a good way). I'm also pretty sure I'd be praising a big Orange or Mesa rig in the same way. Practically speaking the PJB gear is very portable, a heavy valve head and large cab would be less so. Now to find a portable rig that does what the Ampeg rig can do....

Hi folks, My local rehearsal rooms have been rather forward-thinking and supplied Ampeg SVT3 Pro heads with a Ampeg 2x10 or 4×10 Classic cabs in all the rooms. Beats the usual Ashdowns that's for sure, not that they're too bad. Played the 4x10 rig earlier tonight. What a fantastic rig - would buy the same rig in an instant if I could afford it. Not only is there more than enough heft, I can hear so much more out of my 5-string active bass (sandberg) than I've previously experienced. It's all there, glassy highs, punchy mids and LF rumble - all very adjustable and it sat nicely with the band mix. I can now see why they're held in such high regard. Just saying - bit of a revelation really. Anyone else heard sounds from their bass through someone else's rig that they can't get from their own? Steve
