1. Watch the power handling of the cab too. If using distorted guitar sounds, it may not be obvious if the speaker is complaining. What is the cab anyhow?
2. My stupid Kindle won't play that file . Do you have it on a Soundcloud page?
3. Have you checked all the speaker mounting screws and rear connector panel are tight and airtight?
4. My s.g. which has had a headstock repair has been on a wall hanger for about 15 years with no adverse effects at all. I think they are pretty safe.
5. Sounds like the perfect solution then.
6. I've just taken down the individual slots with a needle file almost right down to the fretboard when I've done this. You hardly need any clearance from the fingerboard at the nut. You may also find you need a slight shim in the neck pocket to get the bridge down low enough to get the action right. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't.
7. Miles Davis' Bitches Brew. I'd heard so much about how groundbreaking it was supposed to be, but I didn't find it very interesting to listen to. Also Talking Heads Remain in Light. I was trying to put my finger on what wasn't working for me, and realised it was the lack of harmonic movement of nearly all the tracks that I found kind of boring.
8.
I dislike Frank Zappa. Far too smart and tuneless for my taste. I happen to be in a 4 piece band with 3 Zappa fans who constantly quote lines from Zappa songs. Usually the same f%^&ing ones, every f*&^ing week. I believe there is a small possibility they do it on purpose
If I was in your band, I'd do that to you too, if I knew it would get on your wick
9. Thanks for all the input on this folks. Turns out our appearance wasn't as nailed on as I'd been led to believe, as our music apparently "didn't resonate" with the organizer. And I had just about made up my mind that I would do it too! Oh well...
10.
You can tell the case is plywood....
So are Alembics So what?
11. Yes ^ in management terms, a sh!t sandwich!
12. This is it, it can be useful. This clearly isn't a good idea, so I'll leave it. But I will use the "honest feedback wanted - be as brutal as you like!" next time I post some of our stuff, as I find if I've been listening to stuff for long enough to mix it, I lose any objectivity I might have had at the start.
13.
Brilliant!!!!
Ey thengew. I'm 'ere all week y'know!
14. All very odd. The chances of 2 duff pots is slim, but not impossible...
15. My mates band does 21st c sch man. I think it's great you can see a band in a pub even trying that. LIKE!
16.
But where do all the calculators go?!
You put them on eBay. You don't get much for each one, but they all add up.
17. The cap could be duff. Do you have any way of measuring it? Many multimeters have capacitance measuring function.
18. Is that the strings sounding good or just you?
19. I also meant to ask - do they provide backline for this festival? It would make a lot of sense with so many bands on. I'm gradually coming round to the idea...
20. If you're set on fitting the East, do that first before changing the pickups. You may find that does all you need.
21. I've got the Fishman neo D passive soundhole pickup in my parlour guitar, and while I like the sound, the output is really quite low. The ones with the built-in preamp are adjustable so you can match the output to the piezo. Doesn't have quite the top end of a piezo, but also doesn't the nasty sounding attack that a lot of piezos have.
22. Once you have moved the saddle make sure you check the open note with the tuner, not just at the 12th fret, as moving the saddle will lower the pitch at the 12th fret, seemingly making it in tune, but the open note will be much more flat. So, check both open and 12th after making adjustments. Do use an electronic tuner so you can quantify your readings.
23. Probably lower tension overall
24. Fireball, mainly for the drum intro.
25.
Sounds like an awful idea IMHO - even if it's confined to one forum, I'm pretty sure it would lower the tone of the place overall.
Oh dear. Truth and humour brings down Basschat. We're doomed.
