1. I suppose the practical use is genre dependant. Not many would use it for mellow jazz frinstance.
2. Do you know which number that was? There are a lot to trawl through! Cheers.
3. There are some bits in this gig recording where the ZT is on its own, though he is using a Turbo Rat with a fairly spitty sound in front of it. At about 20 minutes the tune coffee is only the ZT, and some of the intros are on it's own. The more jangly clean sounds are the other tele through the Sessionette, the ZT is slightly on the right of the mix (recorded on a Zoom handheld H2) https://www.dropbox.com/s/xnv3x4a26htqi0p/AntonBarbeau-KK-03feb2017.mp3?dl=0
4. Thanks chaps. I confess I had never heard of a bitcrusher before this either. Starting to feel a bit out of touch!
5. It's nice enough music of it's type, but what does a second drummer add to it?
6.
Octave up
Is it really? I could have sworn it was doing something to the waveform and envelope too. In which case, which pedal is it?
7. I was watching this Janek Gwizdala clip. https://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=LL97bkWQVt8 Can someone tell the pedal he uses at about 14.00 in to get what he calls baby elephant sound? Sounds like a synth sax sound, but the bass isn't synth equipped. Cheers
8. Hey, you could print a curved tube port for a small cab where a normal tube port wouldn't fit. Grooveh! 2 ideas in one evening? I'd better go to bed now before my foot falls off!
9.
If somebody could use a 3D printer to make some flared port ends cheaply, that would make me very happy. It seems like an ideal job for a 3D printer.
Well, that's my good idea for the year, and it's only February
10. Gotta love autocorrect!
11. Yes, a linisher is good. Use something to protect the fingers though, it's surprising how quickly a hex key will heat up!
12.
Well if you can't hear anything, even through headphones then it sounds like a problem in the power output stage or power supply section and will warrant a more thorough diagnosis. Have you checked all of the fuses?
Wouldn't the headphone feed be tapped off before the power stage though?
13.
The gig thread just seems to be 'we had a gig last night, we were wonderful'
Oh, you've seen us then!
14. I'd definitely try to nail as much of the material that you can get hold of, so if the call comes, you will be up to speed in almost no time. Knowing they've got someone in that is right on it will reinforce their decision to get rid. If they feel they've done the right thing, it makes your position even stronger. If the call never comes, you'll have had fun learning some new lines, it all adds to your "vocabulary". Get learning now! (if you haven't already started )
15. I learned a set of 10 tunes (originals) for a one-off gig. We knew there would only be 1 rehearsal as the artist was visiting for a short solo tour, he's normally based in Berlin. Got the set list in December and we all worked through it to learn it as best we could. The gig went very well, artist was pleased, etc. but I just cant get the tunes out of my head now. I wake up with them going on, they visit at quiet times during the day, and at bedtime. Any tips on clearing the tunes out? Cheers MBA
16. I'd swap out the valves one at a time until you find the culprit. If that doesn't diagnose it, then it probably needs a stern looking at! Actually, you could also try plugging into the effects return and see if you get any sound out. If you do, it's most likely something in the preamp, where all the valves live. In fact do this first. Will save you opening it up - if the power stage isn't working, it's off to amp hospital with it
17. I wonder if anyone has made a nice tapered port with a flange (for hiding sub-par hole cutting) using 3-d printing? I've read that tapered (not sure that is quite the right expression)port exit can give lower chuffing for a given original diameter.
18. No, just grind the end off with the Dremel. Allen keys are hardened steel and a bit of a pain to hacksaw. You don't need to take a lot off to restore the end.
19. https://www.dropbox.com/s/j8cjmcya1zk1qna/AntonBarbeau-KK-03feb2017-q2.mp4?dl=0 Was shot on a Zoom (Q2? I will check)The lighting was challenging as one of the LED stage light was out, so most of the illumination was coming from the projector (via rotating crystals!!) But the sound is all there, no overloading the mics. Sorry it's a download, not been put up on YT yet. *Edit Some useful information on Zoom cameras from the chap who films a lot of gigs around Oxford. I quote: "Hi Jules, the video was also filmed on a Zoom but on an old model they don't make anymore using the older video chipset. It is also modified with bits of strategically placed foam to reduce pick up through the body from standing so close to the speakers, and I fit a foam handle to it to reduce handling noise, and I periodically have to polish the lens with autoglass to get rid of scratches and grime that it picks up from being knocked about at gigs. Compared to modern chip sets, it has grainy low light performance, but I cling onto it because it is compact and I can get great sound without having to use an external recorder, and I'd rather have great sound with ropey graphics, than great images with poor sound. If I really want both, I'd take my sound recorder and my camcorder, and edit them together afterwards, but that is time consuming, so for just recording an odd track or two at a gig, my all in one portable is what works best for me. Its a shame but Zoom are just clueless about building a good video camera. They talk about it being designed by musicians for musicians, but they must only talk to musicians working in concert-hall lighting conditions. I bought a Q4 which was meant to be their world-beater, but I only use that these days during the summer when I go to festivals and stuff, so I can film in sunlight, and even then, the image just doesn't have bite. Then about a year ago they brought out this stupidly expensive Q8, which was supposed to have the Zoom sound quality combined with fantastic optics, but it still has the same small lens on it and the image quality is so disappointing. They've also just brought out a new compact version which I haven't seen up close yet, but Pierre was telling me the other night that he's seen it, and its still the same optics and everything, and I could tell he was really unimpressed. These days, the cameras in most mobile phones are much better than the cameras that Zoom build, and Zoom sell plug-in mics for iPhones which gives an all-in-one solution that works well. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoom-iQ7-iOS-Handy-Recorder/dp/B00R4G8QTU I've never seen one of these for the Android phones though. There is a mini shotgun that I think works with Androids but I'm not sure it could handle gig-level sound pressures https://www.amazon.com/Ampridge-MightyMic-Shotgun-Microphone-MMS/dp/B00HRM1KN0/ I've never tried it, but I reckon you could just use the new model H1 as an external mic plugged into an Android phone, and get great quality that way. Nokia built a mobile with good quality mics in it but it ran Windows Mobile range so it didn't sell at all well. Regards" I hope some of this may be handy (!)selecting what folks choose in future, from a user's point of view.
20. Has anyone's drummer tried Aerodrums yet? http://aerodrums.com/aerodrums-product-page/ I'd be interested to see how you got on with them.

22. Does this come with the Cubase LE bundled in?
23. We had a lovely gig at the Wheatsheaf, Oxford last Friday. 4 bands on the bill, we played first, then third up we were the backing band for travelling psychedelic pop guru, Anton Barbeau, briefly over from Berlin via Sacremento for a mini (mostly solo) tour. The audience was great and a good turnout, as Anton did live in Oxford for a few years a while back. We had 1 rehearsal on Friday afternoon, that was it! Video clip here: https://www.dropbox....017-q2.mp4?dl=0 56Meg download though
24. Video clip of said gig. Went well, good size audience and very appreciative! : https://www.dropbox.com/s/j8cjmcya1zk1qna/AntonBarbeau-KK-03feb2017-q2.mp4?dl=0
25. That Trussart is a work of art! I hear they play pretty well too.
