1. do keep up Dad!
2. If it's Japanese made, the threads will probably be metric. Might be able to help out with longer M3 screws.
3. Didn't get round to it this month, but I am sure my title "Leave it Gary, 'e ain't worth it" would have been right up there....
4. Probably early Pink Floyd, my sister had Relics, and the first pre-recorded cassette I bought was A Nice Pair, which was Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucer Full of Secrets all jumbled up to make both sides almost exactly the same length. Huge influence on me at 13 or so.
5. That was a ton of fun! I don't know why I don't listen to the Cardiacs more often.
6. I played a bit of bass through my Wharfedale Titan 8 when I first got them - not really usable for bass at any volume, I'm afraid. Active ones may be better if they've got fancy dsp going on, but not the passives. Hope that helps.
7. Just listened to the Wargs music (they are advertising for a bass player on here), and there's more than a touch of the Breeders about them too.
8. I Really like this band, would be right up my street (if my street was in north London)
9. Are the pickups some kind of split coil humbuckers? It would still be odd if both had failed in the same manner though.
10. I like the shape, is it a slightly stretched jaguar?
11. This set out their stall perfectly:
12. Such a rich seam of great female fronted bands, Echobelly, Elastica, Curve, and loads I've temporarily forgotten the names of.
13. Good News! Well done that man!
14. Looks like the same axe too. Probably had six new handles and four heads, mind!
15. Just catching up with this build. The top has a nice portrait of a spaniel behind the bridge. Nice work!
16. Dave, aren't you in enough bands already?
17. All cables will store charge if the inner conductor is properly insulated from the outer braid. It is exactly how (non-electrolytic) capacitors work.
18. I'm out of the loop here, in what way has Ahmet transgressed?
19. If you imagine playing a note on your fretless bass at the first position, what is the effective "nut" height here? Then, shouldn't it be the same at the zero position?
20. I had a second-hand bottom of the range Columbus that looked like a copy of a Woolworths Audition guitar. I played this through our Decca valve record player until I got a Wem Westminster 10w valve amp, which was awesome, and I wish I'd never sold it.
21.
Probably say the same for the DLR era too!
Docklands Light Railway? Standard of busking must have been better in those days.
22.
Was that a Mustang aye?
Yup, the new pj one
23. Coincidentally, I tried one of those this weekend. The sound it made was fine, but I thought the neck was quite deep and round. I found it comfortable enough, but if you're used to a really slim neck, you may not. The Bronco neck, on the other hand, I found an absolute delight to play, as in, couldn't put it down!
24. I wouldn't say so, no evidence of tapping. Edit: ok, a bit of tapping at the end. Not the best bit though...
