  1. I've only done two videos. I mic'd up the amp with sm 57 and recorded the sound via interface in Ableton software. I then mixed the bass sound with the backing guitar track and did all the compression and mastering. I placed a digital camera in front of me to record the motion and sound. When I imported the bass sound and video into movie media maker I muted the sound on video and synced the two together.
  2. I was toying with the idea of building a Steve Harris royal blue sparkle p bass. Luckily I found one here and since then I saw another one for sale. It's worth saving up if you're a fan. The bass is awesome and beefy.
  3. The bass sounds amazing. Don't know if it's the flat wounds strings or the pick ups. The bass has a gentle growl and deed sound.
  4. I've used a squirty aur can I had and it did the job well. Neck volume pot still not 100 %.
  5. Finish off the two guitar rebuilds. Get a music room and a cheeky drum kit. Plus the usual around the house gardening projects.
  6. Some people swear that drink taste better out of can than bottle and triangle cut sandwiches taste better than rectangular cut. I prefer drinking bottled beer out of a bottle not a glass. Sure it tastes the same.
  7. I went to see a band last night. Good tight three piece cover band. They missed the midnight countdown by 15 seconds.
  8. Happy New Year
  9. Voted. Looks like there is a winner. My toddler loves this version
  10. I'd rather keep it for a project than selling it.
  11. Cheers guys. You've been very helpful. My father in law is happy for me to have it but if this is worth a few hundred quid I want to be honest with him.
  12. Wires are all attached.
  13. It's a tough one. Only the front pups volume button works when it pleases. The other two don't but I reckon with new electronics and either Seymour Duncan or aquilar pick ups with a high mass Fender bridge it will be a bad as.s bass
  14. Yeah looks like it had a full size cover. It was bought 30 years ago so the wood is nicely dried out.
  15. @HazBeen @MB1 @Bassassin Any other suggestions? I've attached pics of neck pocket and potentiometers. The wires are very thin.
  16. Removed the neck and nothing exciting. Nothing exciting at back of electronics or pick ups.
  17. Cheers, presume MM are dearer too.
  18. Looks like I'll end up with another bass. I want to string it up with bright strings. Saw review of Marcus Miller super bright strings. They sound good. Any suggestions?
  19. Looks like B stock or a return. I always pay with credit card so if they get funny I let my bank deal with it. You should be firm with Thomann and stand your ground. Don't forget yiur consumer rights.
  20. So if someone replaces a neck on a genuine Fender, that is a neck not made by Fender but one that looks like Fender to every little detail; and whacks a Fender decal on it. Isn't that a Fender anymore, even though the body, electronics and all hardware including neck tuners are original Fender?
  21. Cheers lads. Lots of knowledge here. The bottom line is I'm likely to keep it but replace the electronics BUT keep the pups to see what they sound like. Another alternative is to convert it into a PJ bass with spb1 and Seymour Duncan bridge pup.. Meantine, anyone is welcome to chip in with their opinion on what this bass actually is.
  22. Cheers lads. Will have to check under sp and neck pocket.
  23. Just added
  24. My father in law got this Fender jazz bass copy from the loft. The back plate says Made in Japan. It is solid and heavy about 40 years old. The neck is wide but not chunky. It has old flat wounds on and sounds dead. I've played it through a cheap guitar amp so far. The knobs don't work properly. No idea what make it is but sprucing it up with electronics it would make a nice bass. Anyone has any suggestions what it may be
  25. I skimmed it. Sting's face expresion spoke volumes. I read it as: WTF!?
