  1. Looks like B stock or a return. I always pay with credit card so if they get funny I let my bank deal with it. You should be firm with Thomann and stand your ground. Don't forget yiur consumer rights.
  2. So if someone replaces a neck on a genuine Fender, that is a neck not made by Fender but one that looks like Fender to every little detail; and whacks a Fender decal on it. Isn't that a Fender anymore, even though the body, electronics and all hardware including neck tuners are original Fender?
  3. Cheers lads. Lots of knowledge here. The bottom line is I'm likely to keep it but replace the electronics BUT keep the pups to see what they sound like. Another alternative is to convert it into a PJ bass with spb1 and Seymour Duncan bridge pup.. Meantine, anyone is welcome to chip in with their opinion on what this bass actually is.
  4. Cheers lads. Will have to check under sp and neck pocket.

  6. My father in law got this Fender jazz bass copy from the loft. The back plate says Made in Japan. It is solid and heavy about 40 years old. The neck is wide but not chunky. It has old flat wounds on and sounds dead. I've played it through a cheap guitar amp so far. The knobs don't work properly. No idea what make it is but sprucing it up with electronics it would make a nice bass. Anyone has any suggestions what it may be
  7. I skimmed it. Sting's face expresion spoke volumes. I read it as: WTF!?
  8. There are bassists who don't ready or write notes. They don't preach on you tube about technicality and yet they managed to become more famous than the ones they do.
  9. I don't really understand why it matters how it must be played. I've learnt in past year that bass sound changes in the mix......

    Guitar rebuild

Not at all. Thinking same colour as I had visualized the final product. I was so close. Now have two projects on the go and both need repainting.

Disaster stroke. The lacquer didnt like the base colour. So stripping off the paint and start all over again 🤣
  12. Really enjoyed watching it. Some top musicians playing for peanuts 😮

    Guitar rebuild

Cheers mate. Disaster today, sprayed the lacquer on and the paint cracked. Looks like will have to start all over again😣
  16. I sprayed it with 4 layers of 2k lacquer. Some orange peel which I need to remove.
  17. I sprayed the body with 4 layers of red.
  18. I sanded the body and filled all cracks and dents. Sprayed with grey primer and wet sanded. Aligned the neck and drilled the holes in the neck.
  19. Bought a maple neck replacement and cut the headstock to a desirable shape.
  20. This Squier seen better days. Too many dents on body and neck. Frets worn out with rusty hardware.
  21. I started a second guitar re build whilst my first one is still in progress. This time it's going to be a Squier strat with re fitted hardware and electronics keeping the strat look. The body has been ee sprayed. New neck fitted as the neck on the second hand Squier I bought seen better days. Worn out frets and not functioning trust rod. Cheaper to replace the neck. I've learnt a lot from the first re build so the paint job costs significantly less. Pictures to follow soon.
