2.
Just ordered a cover from roqsolid for my M210
Let me know what the cover is like please
3. Out of interest, is this the LM2 or LM3 amp inside?
4.
I was in there yesterday - what a cool shop and guy that owns it! TBH not that impressed with the sound from the RH450 very coloured indeed. Did hear Mark Bass head through a Bergantino cab and wow what a sound!! I had tried Mark Bass before through their own cabs and decided it was not for me but this might have changed my mind!! The Genz Benz stuff sounded great too and so light in weight. Mark
It sounds like you want a really clean warm amp....which the Markbass is PERFECT for. A few people have said the MB cabs aren't quite as nice as their heads, but I can't comment as I've never tried one for long enough. Their NY4x6 is fantastic! The NY121 is really small and light. Berg + Markbass just works really well. Both extremely clear and full of low end. I agree, I like the Genz as well...hence my Shuttle 9.0 GAS!!!!
5.
Yep, its got the new case and the new vintage bridge and all that stuff goin' on, diff tuners... Im looking at sunburst with a tort pickguard 'cos James Jamerson's one just looks the absolute business. I dig your white ones though, that would be my second colour choice with the tort p'guard (already have a white...umm...actually maybe "nicotine yellow" aged Ric so fancy summat with a different colour). I like the idea of a P as well as all my other basses are kinda, well, not the norm (I dont think of Rics as "normal" hehe) and I need a versatile weapon in case i try a different band / style of music out.
Yep...another good colour choice!
6.
Im seriously considering purchasing an MIA 2008 P after trying one in a local shop. Ive tried various vintage instruments, some for stupid money, that didnt have the right sound for me. Plus, ive never bought a new bass in my life - fact! - so maybe its time to try a new one out, a guitar to truly "Be mine" from the off. There's an awful lot of difference in prices over the internet - you can pick one up for £849 delivered with an SKB moulded case, pretty damn fine deal if you ask me. I keep seeing people on here talking about the "new" MIA's (some like, some dont). Were the "new" ones introduced as of the start of 2008? I cant find anything to suggest any discernable difference between the 08 and 09 design for the MIA models - lots of blurb on t'interweb about the MIM's getting a2009 facelift but not the MIA's. Of course, as usual im happy to be told otherwise... Fender experts, fire away
Thew new series came out in 08, and continued on. If its got flat pole pieces, rolled fingerboard, different bridge and different tuners, its the new model. If that SKB case is the new one, then yep, youve got the right one. I REALLY like the new Fenders...and I think even at new prices they are a good buy considering you get an excellent case. What colour?!
7. I've been in touch with TC and they said, as mentioned, that their 450 watts is very very powerful. But, they do want to release a higher powered version at some point as they keep getting requests. I might wait and see what happens.
8. Hey I’ve never recorded on my own to a computer like this, but I’d like to start in the near future. I’ve managed to buy some nice equipment over the years, and it’s about time I started to understand a little more about basic recording. To cut a long story short, the band I am due to join have asked me to jam along to their tracks and record ‘over’ their recordings. They don’t mind it literally just being over the top of their basslines; it’s just to see if I can play how they want me to. Its also for my own benefit as well. Right, the equipment I have is: Basses Amps (LM3 has the more featured outputs) Cabs Correct leads for connecting to amps/cabs/basses Sansamp BDDI Aguilar Tonehammer PC – Not amazing, but still runs well and plenty of GB left Girlfriends iMac and Notebook – I can use these if they are better My question is this. What else do I need to plug into the Mac/PC? Is it best to go directly in, or into the Sansamp/Tonehammer first, then into the computer? Or via the LM3? Whats the best way to connect? Is it best to get a ¼ inch to USB? I’ve heard of the Lightsnake USB cable but does it work well? I was going to get a good mic, but Im not sure that’s cost effective or the best way of doing it. The iMac has Garage Band on it; I don’t have anything on my PC so I might have to get something that’s free. What’s a decent free recording program? Any suggestions? Thanks Gareth
9. I really think now I’ve got my Fender/Ernie Ball fix. I’m gassing for an American 62 Reissue P or an American 75 Reissue Jazz, and possibly a Stingray 5, but I’m also thinking of going down a different route. I never thought I’d say this, as they aren’t really my style of bass, but im gassing for a Warwick/Spector! Something that isn’t the traditional shape im used to, but not so far away as to be totally alien. Warwick in particular is attracting me. I’m not even sure what a Warwick sounds like, but something about their huge popularity is drawing me in. They also seem to have many options and really kit out new owners with a bass that’s easy to maintain and comes with everything you need to look after it. I’d like something that’s slightly traditional in design, 5 string, with an awesome tone that I’ve never heard! I’ve no idea what kind of sound I want. That makes it difficult doesn’t it hahah! One thing that I must have is a fairly low weight. I do not want anything that will make my back ache. I’d quite like that whole oiled wood look, perhaps a slightly lighter wood or really dark? So many options on their site.
10. I want!!!!! However I cannot afford
11. Jo5 is fully recommended!
12. Shuttle 9.0 and some different sets of strings....a cover for my Tecamp M212....then Im done. For a bit!
13. If I hadnt already got the new version of this bass I'd be all over it. White is perfect
14. Mega quick payment via bank transfer. Fast and friendly Thanks Chris...String in the post tomorrow
15. This hiss seems to be affecting the combos.....hmmm. I wonder what it is. My cab, luckily, has quite a silent horn and doesn't give you that slight 'hiss' even when you crank it up. I was quite happy about that!
16. I've even found one 212 (8 ohm) with the LM3 is enough volume....adding the other gives you a total 4x12 beast of a stack....sounds huge, loads of clarity, plus the nice warmth 12s give you. I'm going to get a Shuttle 9.0 soon to really cranked the single 212s when Im taking one cab to a gig....so thats putting more into it at 8ohms and making them much more of a one cab solution when space is tight. The casters really sold it for me....they might weigh a fair bit, but with casters they weigh nothing The reason I went for the big cabs was I had a good deal trading in my Ampeg 8x10...and I wanted the same kind of big rig, but in two smaller packages. I highly recommend Aguilar cabs.
17. Check my gear thread in my signature for Chocolate Thunder.
18. Hi guys I have 2 sets of RS Swing Bass 66 (4 String) Bass strings unused and unopened. ALL GONE! They are a fairly light gauge as the band I am leaving played ultra fast double timing stuff, so thick strings was out. Im using slightly thicker strings now. To be fair, the thickness never stopped them being extremely full on tone wise, it just meant you could play quicker and bend more. RS66LC - Medium - Long - 40 60 75 95 (Specs) I believe they are £15 ish new. £9.00 delivered to your door. Brand new, unopened and unused. Payment via bank transfer please...loads easier and no fees. Cheers EDIT: SOLD!
19.
Thanks Rich (and everyone else) for the comments The mrs really is awesome!! I'm so proud of her, not only for making an excellent choice of bass but for supporting my local guitar/bass shop instead of buying it online! I've hardly slept all night!! I'm so excited about this bass!! I love the thought of keeping hold of this one!! (the mrs and the bass)
Thats a truly brilliant gift....what a bass as well. You definitely have to keep that now....for life! How many awesome Oly White 08/09 P Basses on basschat now? You make a good couple as well, congrats! (I hope I get the same if I decide on the same path with the missus....)
20.
I'm completely happy with my RH450 - it's killed all interest in any other amps (which is a good thing beleive it or not!). At the gig last weekend I had one of those moments where I get to play solo at the end of a song. I was shocked by how good it sounded and it made a really lasting impression on me. My Pino Palladino strung with TI's and played with a pick just sounded beefy as hell with a presence that totally belied the size of my rig. Definetely worth trying one out Mark - as you say the cabs are might not be as great as the head though. J
That bass sounds like my dream bass....well it is!
21. I tested one out with a Sadowsky / 75 Reissue Jazz and I don't think the guys in the shop had it set up properly to be fair. The cabs weren't really my kind of thing, although I really like how they have been designed/shaped. The head itself is very functional and has a lot going on. As with all TC equipment, its pricey. I like its features, I like how versatile it is, but I wasnt sold instantly. However, again it was in a tiny corner on a low volume as the shop was full. I think going for the amp with, as mentioned above, different cabs is probably the best combination. I'd like to fiddle with the tube tone a bit when I get chance to play one again. They look very impressively made, and I suggest testing one out LM2/3 much simpler and less to play with, but obviously if you are like me and have a tuner/sansamp/tonehammer or decent dirt pedal that sounds tube like, then its a case of either getting a head without the features or selling them all to just buy the TC head. Id really like an amp shootout with the Genz Shuttle 9.0/LM3/RH450....we should do this!
22. Ah I wish I was living there already!
