You would put this up when I've just bought one, Gareth! Any pics for the potential punters?
Hi Rich! Yep...Ill get some pics up asap. Ive put two up...just so you know the colour and overall look, but Ill get some more detailed ones sorted. Still a feeler, because it sounds tremendous..just not sure I can buy another without selling one. We shall see

+1.....new they cost between £440 and £480...think mine was £440 ish. Highly recommend these cabs....the nicest looking and sounding 15 Ive ever encountered. Lots of clarity yet able to provide a big fat low end. They weigh a bit....but for an old school design 1x15, its pretty compact. The port works really well. Go and have a test!
Well, I tried both and liked the rosewood one a lot more. Seemed to have a much bigger and louder sound? Odd. Anyway I BOUGHT IT LOL and its now behind me in its case looking very very pretty indeed. Im sure ill get it in Gear Porn soon! I am extremely, extremely impressed with it. Given that ive tried quite a number of P's now, and quite a lot of them 70's ones, I have to say this is actually better than the majority ive played. Its the right weight, the right look, the right everything. All the case candy you get with it just seals the deal really! IMO its a much better use of my money than a 70's P would be.... particularly if the 70's P may not be entirely kosher (unless bought from a lovely fellow BC'er of course! - not even a dealer is going to know a bass's entire history). If anyone else is thinking about it, I would say GO TRY THEM and then, well, you might end up walking out with one like I did.
As per the topic title. WITHDRAWN Black, with rosewood board. 3 band EQ...PURE TONE! Frets barely used...so its like buying new from the shop but without the new retail prices. Comes with official EB MM Hardcase, also immaculate. Very much a feeler....not sure of its worth. I think its a 2002, I bought it brand new. I can get the serial if you need it. Absolutely pristine. I have never gigged the bass as when I got it I went straight to Uni for 3 years and didnt fancy having it in a student house. I then moved it to Leeds and still didnt take it. Basically, its a bass thats been sat in its case, played when I have time, but not gigged. Seems daft, but Im quite attached to it and recently been playing rough dives that does not warrant a bass such as this. No issues, just played at home as a bit of a luxury. I got this due to buying a poor USA Jazz bass, then took it back and swapped it + a bit of cash for this new Ray. I would POSSIBLY trade for a Lakland JO5/DJ5 or Stingray 5/Sterling 5....and work something out with cash. They would have to be very very good condition. CASH sale would be £800, due to its condition. Immaculate and strung with fresh strings a month ago. Make me an offer if you have any interest. Sorry for the recent feelers, Ive been toying about with cash....and it seems I may have to sell one before I buy another. If it seems like it will not attract the value I would like, I will keep it and just enjoy it. Cheers

I'd like to know what a Warwick can offer me over, say a Lakland DJ5 or a MM Stingray5. My next bass has to be 5, and has to be nice and light, comfy, with a fast 5 string neck. I do like P bass necks on Precisions, but Id like a quicker neck on a 5 string. What are my options in Warwick terms?

Can some one explain the whole Musicman, Stingray, Sterling thing
Musicman20 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Bass Guitars
I was going to put a topic up about this....but here is what I wanted to say: (PS good topic Dave!) I was just wondering this, are these instruments no longer classed as ‘in’, because Ive noticed a lot of them going for sale as silly low prices. On other sites like (evil) ebay, their prices are much higher. Maybe its just me, but I don’t see why someone would sell an instrument that retails at £1400+ for £800 or less. Ok, standard good condition 4 String Rays/Sterlings are perhaps at the right price point at £750, (even though mine are absolutely mint, so I would definitely want a little more) but some of the other more unusual and expensive models are going really cheap. I remember when I was 13/14, and my bass tutor was talking about the instruments that would suit my requirements, that I should try out. Obviously the Precision and Jazz are my type of bass, but he also mentioned the Stingray, which back then was much rarer and more elusive! As soon as I saw one, and realised they could be used in Punk/Funk/Rock/anything, I was hooked. That scratchplate and that pickup….with the 3+1 headstock design….well….I am sucker for it. The day I picked up my Natural Ray, my friends were stunned by how well it was built, the huge tone, and the brilliant thick finish on the body. I’d been waiting for that instrument for years, and I paid for it half cash and half in interest free finance…it still cost about £1K back then. FFWD to now, and I still love them, but you don’t see the big rock bands using them so much, so it tends to reflect in what people buy. They don’t seem to attract as much cash, but I personally think once you see a new band with a Stingray, the sales will go up Remember ‘Blur Song 2’?! To me, no instrument cuts through like a Ray. A Ray with a Markbass amp is stunning….they pair up incredibly well. I have some flats coming to try in my rosewood board Ray….which im really looking forward to. Anyway, as much as I want a Jazz-type 5 string, im still leaning towards a Sterling 5 or Stingray 5. -

Can some one explain the whole Musicman, Stingray, Sterling thing
Musicman20 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Bass Guitars
I can help you on this one Dave I would keep the DJ5 for now, save about 750/800, and get a second hand ray 4. If you want versatility, get the 3 band. If you want traditional, save for the new classic series ray, check em on the eb forum. The ray sound is HUGE. Put it with markbass and it's perfect. I will pm you more info later. I'm gassing for the sterling5 but it's 1400 ish! If you want a fatter warm sound, put a set of flats on. I heard one like this and I am convinced, the strings are awaiting to be fitted! -
Anyone A/B'ed a Fender 62RI P-bass vs a 2009 MIA P?
Musicman20 replied to Clarky's topic in Bass Guitars
Clarky's last P bass is with me now. I would play as many as you can. You already know the 08/09 fenders are a step up. -
Fast payment and great communication! Cheers and enjoy the strings mate
Might be an idea! Not wishing to hijack thread, but DB212 and Tecamp 212, which is best?
The Tecamp 212 is a perfect lightweight solution and is much better than I imagined a lightweight cab could be....Im very impressed. The Aguilar gives you that ceramic thump, and I think its slightly darker and 'dirtier' yet still clear and articulate. Plus Brown cabs...how cool is that?! Totally different horns on them as well....I like them both! The Tecamp retails for more because of its weight... I neeed to AB them both....properly. But, I really like what Ive got. No more, nothing...Im a lucky guy and I should just enjoy what Ive got. If you can get either...I would! The Aguilars will be getting more play soon when the Genz 9.0 comes as they are 8 ohms cabs (better for a tube amp as the Orange is 200 tube watts no matter what ohmage...or 4ohm minimum....went all out with two DB212s) and the Shuttle 9.0 pumps in a lot more...so they effectively become one cab solutions as well as a huge stack!

Hey everyone I sold a few sets of new strings on here as I wanted to try something new. Rotos are great, don’t get me wrong, and you cannot go wrong for the price, but I fancied a change. Clarky sold me the White P Bass with TI Jazz Flats fitted. I am now a convert to the smooth feel and tone. At first, the more ‘dead’ sound took a little getting used to…but crank the tone and you still have plenty of brightness. Recently I’ve been practicing some Jamiroquai basslines to get the fingers a little stronger, and sure enough P Bass + flats is awesome. Plus, once your hands warm up, you can slide really quickly and it feels great. So, Ive ordered the same set to put on whichever bass needs them next. Im hoping one of the Rays If Im honest. I like the fact the TIs bend so easily, yet are thick and full. I heard a Ray with flats and it sounds brilliant. I also PM’d OutToPlayJazz about the DR Strings, and I’ve opted to try some DR Fat Beams, light gauge, but they are slightly heavier gauge on the E and A compared to my Rotos, which is exactly what I wanted. These will go on whichever other bass needs them next! I basically wanted the ultimate stainless steel strings for times when I really want a cutting modern sound, plus these again aren’t high tension. So….shopped about. Strings Direct have been recommended twice to me. So, I checked them out, lots of stock and lots of range. I did notice some of their prices were a TINY bit higher than the lowest prices I’d found on the internet. They were still cheaper than most places though. I emailed and asked for a price match, and not only did they match it, they rounded it down a couple of quid. Basically, £5 cheaper than everywhere else plus free next day delivery. That, in my eyes, is really good. I highly recommend contacting these guys. I got a very quick response, and they were happy to match prices. From now on, I know where I’ll be buying from. Oh, and I sent my order through at 14:30, and they dispatched them special delivery by 15:40. That is really fast! They will be here tomorrow. Cheers for reading
It's probably only a matter of time before you own all 3 so you'll be able to do the shootout yourself! (Sorry, I'm just jealous!) Great collection. Your missus must be the most understanding woman around.
She doesnt know about the Shuttle 9.0 yet! I'll try and confuse her about it.
