1. Ah...I emailed Orange a few months ago. I think that photo wasnt supposed to be released, as with all amp companies they always have a new version in prototype....and the 1000 version is apparently still being tested and tweaked. I think they will probably wait til summer....like I might do!
2.
There's a big Shuttle 9 disscussion thread on TB - really interesting as lots of guys have tried them in different situations and all are saying the amp does the business and then some - one notable quote that I remember is along the lines of "I've yet to try it through a pair of speakers where it didn't sound great" - or something like that! I'm looking forward to running it through my Epi 210 - my next mission when time and cash aloow will be to find the perfect 1x12 for it - though I already have some good ideas... M
Ah yes ive been tracking that. 900W in this small size and only at 4lbs has to be some kind of record?! Im glad people have put it through its paces, and I think it will sound great with most cabs...and will make any 8 ohm cab, especially the 2x10s, 2x12s etc, much more useful on their own. I think by Aggies are rated at 600W, and they are 8ohms, so everything should be fine. I think the 9.0 at 4 ohms thorough my HS410 will just be fantastic....probably louder and more crisp/clear/articulate than an 8x10 and in small package.
3. I agree....wait for the DB112....itll be worth it
4. I did. My GAS is terrible. lol. Has anyone got there Shuttle 9.0 already? Im intrigued to use it with one 8 Ohm cabinet...that basically means all the 8 ohm cabs I have can also be used as one cab solutions for gigs...or stack for pure doom. Shuttle 9.0 made it much better to have 8 ohm cabs...hence why I had to have one.
5.
Good luck Gareth. At least this will take your mind off the other GAS.
Definitely...ill probably realise enough is enough...but I still need a 5 string. Tbh....I think I might just leave it for 3-6 months and try out everything I can. Not sure yet.
6. Update: will be with me before 12 tomorrow (sat)! Not many beers for me tonight....dont want to miss the doorbell.
7.
I loved the 3.0 but I know this will be so much more amp for the size and the money - I have Tuesday off work so will be running it through its paces then - I think we may have to start a new thread in the reviews section tho. M
+1 I dont know why Im so excited....I think its because Ive always wanted a Shuttle of some type....and I waited around to see what happened. Its so small/light, and so bloomin powerful. Im looking forward to playing with the tube gain...wouldnt mind a little bit of dirt every now and then. Ive also just realised it fits in my gig bag I use for the LM3, the Gig Skinz one, so thats good news.
8. Apparently mine is in stock with the Bass Merchant and will be with me tomorrow....oh heck....I wasnt expecting it which is EVEN better! Bonus....I have Monday off work....3 days to play around with it. YESSSS. Expect photos and some sort of rough review by Monday guys.
9.
I used to date a girl with eczema. She had cracking tits.
Classic
10. Thats a nice looking thing!
11. Nice Sei!
12. I think having Mark on here is a really good idea...its good to see deals for the bassists and its like they are becoming more involved with bassists. I like it...adds a personal touch.
13.
It looks virtually the same as the Dual Terror that the guitarist in my band has. That thing is mighty, really loud and a tone full of character. If this is in the same league, then i'd consider these. I'm not too keen on the cabinets though, i remember reading in the other thread about these that the technology was a step back in the past and the 4x10 will just sound more or less like a 2x10... but weigh the same as a 4x10 - i see the point in that.
I think its the same size ish as my Dual Terror, perhaps smaller. Weighs a fair bit less though.
14. I started on an Encore copy of a P bass....I then stupidly decided that P's sounded dull, (I was 12/13...give me a break). I was into a lot of metal and grunge..and I bought a few slightly smaller bodied more modern basses. I then saw a Fender Precision MIJ , (now in Nigels hands) and at first I didnt know if it was safe to go 'old school' as most of the guitars in fashion were not like this with what I listened to. I then got into punk...a lot, and that love of P's has stuck with me. Once I saw a few bands playing proper P's, not Encores, and I had a chat with the store owner, I bought it. A few mates took the mick saying I looked stupid with a massive white bass. Guess what? Ive never looked back...I really dont get on with the visual look of small basses anymore...it has to be old school, and Ps just WORK...somehow.... They can be clanky and bright with aggression, or fat and warm but still cut the mix. Brilliant simple design...who needs 1000 different pickup configurations.
15. IMO the best 12s in lightweight format come from GB, Tecamp or Bergantino
16. Yep there sure is and they are well positioned:)
17. This sounds like punk right up my street! Ps I did the same with my old mij p bass plus sansamp and it works really well!!!
18.
You have to be straight. There's no way I would have agreed to record vids of me playing. I'm in a similar situation 'aww just come round to my house mate and we'll have a jam' - to which I said no thanks, pick 5 songs, send me mp3s and I'll learn them and come to your next band practice. Remember you're auditioning them as much as they're auditioning you. Don't get messed around - they're noT doing you a favour letting you be in their band. One positive note: glad to see you've got the bullshit detector well and truly tuned in - one decent band from 20 enquiries seems about right!!
+1...cheers. From now on, I do it my way, or its not going to work. In addition, I make sure they realise a decent bassist who isnt just a guitarist fiddling with bass is a tough musician to find. Ive been totally messed about...no more 'videos' of me playing along...from now on ill learn 2-3 tracks and try out...thats it. No more messing about. Thanks for the advice.
19. Just got my Roqsolid cover....perfect fit, nice and padded inside, superb quality and great waterproof outer. Very impressed....cannot go wrong at that price. It basically looks better than some of the more expensive covers....very well cut and cut together. Roqsolid are very pro!
20. Just got my cover....perfect fit, nice and padded inside, superb quality and great waterproof outer. Very impressed....cannot go wrong at that price. It basically looks better than some of the more expensive covers....very well cut and put together.
21. Previous efforts to try and rehearse have failed...only serious offers please. Bump
22. I agree with this now. Ive had 15-20 offers for joining bands. 2-3 were half decent, one of them sounded pro as hell. What do THEY want me to do? Go all out, learn a lot of material, and play along to it on videos...then send them through. A fair bit of messing about. Guess what, I do all that, they keep asking me for more, they like it, and they still say 'we gotta rehearse first see what you are like'. I carry on....FFWD to today...the band have split. Waste of time and now im basically annoyed as hell and bored of bands being like this. Meh.
23.
Which ones do you like then?
Warwick $$ Active 5, but now I think they have 'too much' going on with two H's.... Warwick Streamer Jazzman 5...out of budget and a risk for a bass id never really researched much before.... Etc.... That bass you have on order is a bloomin bargain! Enjoy
Light warwick? Corvette Bubinga and Thumbs are heavy despite the reduced body size, haven't tried a SS2. Swamp ash (corvette standard, $$) or maple (SS1, Streamer LX, Corvette Proline, Jazzman) are more reasonable. Dunno about the SS2, but I hear it's on the heavy side (especially 5 strings). Depends. They have in general a bump in the low-mids instead of full-on bass, which gives them a specific voice. They don't sound like Fenders, or Musicmans. They have models that are quite unique, like the Thumb, The Streamer Pro-M (discontinued sadly, all maple, sort of Stingray-ish), the Vampyre, the Dolphin, and their special editions (Thumb Dirty Blond, Corvette $$ 2008, ...). In general, it's Streamer LX, Jazzman, Stage 1, Stage 2, the Thumbs (odd beasts), and Corvettes you will most likely encounter. They changed their neck profile recently to something less fat, and more conventional. Try if you can. The Corvette $$ is a popular model, however I wasn't so keen on the 5 string model (bit muddy down low). The Thumbs are peculiar. Imo, Stage 1 and Stage 2 is where it's at.
Thanks for the advice. I think I need to play a few of them for a few months and do some research. They are completely alien to me...its very odd that I have GAS for one..but I think I should definitely try a few.
24. Glad you got it looks like a beaut as well. We should a/b my maple board one with your rosewood. I think the sunburst is really good, and the bridge/case/candy/neck/board/pickups are really impressive
25.
STL9's should be in country by friday Woohoo!
Excellent news I'll check with my store looking forward to it.
