Oly white Fender Marcus Miller Jazz
Musicman20 replied to Clarky's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
More Oly White! I cant hack the splate on the MM....even though the bass still looks cool. -
Evening chaps! Has anyone managed to find where we can get the Tecamp covers? They apparently can be left on the cab whilst you play. They have a front zip for the where the front grille is. I managed to get this M212 without annoying the missus too much. Once she realised I could carry it alone, and that I got it really cheap, she ‘got it’. I’m going to give mine a good test over the weekend as I’m learning some new songs for a potential band I’m joining. Hopefully it will sound as good as it looks. I checked on guitarguitar’s site, and they seem to now be selling the S/M210s off quickly as well. To be fair, one 4 ohm 2x10 would be great for a quieter band. Oh, and now just the 1x10 combos left. I checked with their manager, and they are not going to be getting any stock of Tecamp stuff again. It’s a one off, and they cannot order new stock at normal prices. So, im asking around about the covers. I first thought perhaps Tecamp were stopping production, but then I realised their site has been updated with an event today so they must still be going strong. That’s good news! After a word with another one of tecamps stockists, it seems Rosetti are not a dealer anymore, and that’s why they sold everything off cheap. Now we need a new dealer so we can buy our covers.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys! I was actually thinking 'which bass??' for when I go try out. Im thinking after my gig last night that the new Oly White Fender Precision with flats will sound nice, full and perfect for this kind of music. It was my first gig with flats...and I was very impressed with how clear they were. I expected flats to be a little less clear than stainless, but they were spot on. Yeah, you dont get the really bright attack, but when you have 2 guitarists with quite a bright sound, it sits nicely in the background and provides that good fat low end. I think the amp will have to be the LM3 due to space in the car....I doubt ill be able to get a cab down so Im going to ask what they have in their practice room. Im going to spend the afternoon learning some of their material now. I dont want to be too positive about it, as I might not be right for them as yet, but its definitely the kinda stuff I enjoy playing and also find a breeze to play, so I can add some little bass runs in the right places. I will keep this topic updated Im more bothered about me and the new band getting on than the playing...to me its half the battle. But they seem like really decent chaps and they approached me which is a good sign. Cheers

I havent had chance to test my cab yet I wish I had my bloody house/flat in London NOW...I am having to around other people in the house before testing her out and making noise, (even low noise!)
-
Thanks for that link. When I ordered my JO5 which is still to come, I spoke to Dan and he has sent it with another guard in addition to the original white. Sunburst and Tort is just a classic that cannot be missed.

This bass will be a masterpiece once its finished! I must say, even though I didnt realise how deep the DJ/JO tone was, once I plugged one it, I loved it.

Hey guys Most of you know im relocating to London very soon. Ive had to tell the band that im leaving and I think one of them is a little miffed and thinks im making a big mistake. But...its getting a little quiet, and weve written 2 songs in 6-8 months. I just have lost heart. I didnt want to leave though....but a band from London have got in contact with me after I put an advert up. Well, a few bands did. Some of them were ok, some of them were very good. Then, jackpot...the right band, ultra pro recording, and exactly the music I'd like to play, (Alkaline Trio, Jimmy Eat World, Samiam as their influences). Then they sent the tracks....wow. Now im actually more excited than I've been in years about playing. Not only are these guys decent chaps, their music is really really good. Ultra catchy, tight, melodic, and upbeat modern punk rock...a little more on the commercial side but in a good way. I really hope it works out...Ive got a meeting with them in November and a trial. Cheers Gareth
IMO maybe you should have bagged a combo and then atleast you would have the amp and a quality cabinet in one. You have alot of other gear that is similar to the cab you got, which you could've added to the combo for an even bigger rig if needed, and still be lightweight Edit: Sorry, you only have the Aguilar 212 and that isn't really lightweight. Fair play to you then my friend!
True! But I would have struggled to ever get a 2x10 Cab in 8ohms at such a low price again If that Puma 500 head came out I would have bought it straight away. Yep...its my first light cab and its pretty small considering what I was expecting. I love cabs! Next step next year is finding another nice lightweight amp....maybe a Puma 500

I really want a Puma 500 now. I have £0. Piss

Fender Jazz and Precision, New American Standard (2009)

Basically the 62 Reissue is God. I am jealous! Although I realise I am a lucky chap. -
This isnt your amps fault.
I was at work when the courier came so my 4x10 is next door and they've gone out for the night I did think about breaking in... :brow:
I cant wait for your face when you pick it up. Once they are out of the box...you brace yourself for a heavy weight...then it isnt there!

I have to say...for the first time ever I feel like we all have got really lucky....sure GG have made money somewhere on this gear...and someone may have lost out, but this stuff actually is BRAND SPANKING NEW. I came home today to find the M212 in a very well padded tecamp box. Its even got the original box, a manual on how the speakers 'work', and the cab had corner protectors and a bag over it. Sure its been taken out to be checked, but wow is this perfect. Ampeg really have been beaten by the Germans in terms of quality of 'old school' design; the fake leather is VERY nice, the corners fit flush, the back panel is clear, the handles work well, the front grille looks awesome, and the two poles next to the grille look great. I haven't tested it as yet, just took it out and inspected it thinking itd be scuffed etc. Thank god its 4 ohms, and yes, its the lightest cab in this size ive ever experienced. I got it up the stairs on my own! Its also solid as hell. Here are some phone pics:

Ok...having to stop myself getting a combo! I do not need one! I think ill keep the money towards the Shuttle 9.0
-
Dont worry about the strikes....guitarguitar site says they are not affected due to who they use. Has anyone got a 210 combo or 112 combo then?!?!??! There are quite a few left on the site...I want one!
-
Hey guys Well, lets hope this M212 is as good as I hear! I cannot believe how low the prices are. I think this is going to be a very lucky one off….the thing is I nearly bought one of these at £900 a few months back…then I nearly bought one second hand for £700! I would love the 212 combo. I asked for some advice off Talkbass and the chap who has tried most of them said the old design S212 is fantastic, and the M212 is also brilliant but bigger and more low end. I basically gave him the list if what they had, and the prices, and he said get the M212 as it’s the best all rounder and still very light. Its not small by any means, but by my calculations its shorter/wider than two AE112s, and 18 lbs lighter! Oh...and how much cheaper yet still high end?! The combos would have been more tempting if they had the option of taking that fantastic amp out….plus….if I ever wanted to use it to its full potential, I would have needed another 2x10 8 ohm cab. If that amp would have come out, I would have paid even more. This is my first neo cabinet, and I cannot believe its only 44lbs….the same as one Aguilar DB112! That is insane. Plus, 4 ohms. My LM3 will be getting a good workout very soon with this cab! I have a gig on Friday, so if we have space ill be taking this with me. Pics and review up soon. If I don’t really need it, I’ll be selling it on, so let me know if you are interested. It won’t be selling any lower than what I paid though due to the already super low price. To be honest, if I didn’t already have a lot of cabs, one of those 6x10s would have been amazing. But, overkill for me. If I was looking for a 6x10/8x10 I would grab one NOW! Can we keep this thread going and get some pics up when they all arrive? I asked the manager at guitarguitar and he said it’s all new stock, not even been used. I hope the cabinet is in as new condition. I don’t mind the odd scuff, but ill check it out tomorrow. He did mention they bought it all at really low prices; not sure how, but then again, for the saving and the fact its got a one year warranty, I cannot complain. Remember chaps….they have a 7 day no hassle returns policy. Any issues….send it back. I really want a cabinet cover, one of the proper Tecamp ones. Where can I buy one?! UPDATE - At these prices, Im tempted for a 1x12 combo...purely because its a high end 1x12 combo for £399!!!! When is everyones gear coming?!
-
Update - gone with the one M212 that was left. Asked KJung (?) on Tbass about the 3 options I had, and he said the M212 all the way. Apparently the M212 wasnt properly put on the site...but they do have it...well not now £349...even If I dont use it much and sell it on...its SO cheap!
-
Well...after all that...Im a bit 'hmm' about the combos as they arent 4 ohms and you cant take the amp head out. If you could...I would have ordered on NOW! However, after not being sure on the S212 because of the new rear port 'problems' (if they are actually problems that is), I have actually reserved an M212 instead that they just got in. Now thats probably more sense for me....a £349 cab thats meant to be £900+, at 4ohms. The LM3 will be a joy through that. Now I cant decided....I think if the combo was 4 ohms Id go for it....but ill never get the extension cab....
From the sounds of it, that's all the stock there is... I would have loved a combo, but I've got the Walkabout Scout. Don't need one.... still want one, though.
I dont need one...but at £499...for a 2x10 with that amp built in....mmmm! Its that or the S212....but ive read some unpositive reviews on the new S212....mind you that doesnt mean a thing nowadays..could have been a duff unit.
-
Hmm Thanks guys I just had a look to see if they had a 2x10 8ohm cab to match it...seems its just 4 ohm cabs. Hmmm....I really don't know whether to just get a mega cheap 2x12 thats uber light or the 2x10 combo now! The 2x10 is a better value deal....but the 2x12 cab is 4 ohms and my LM3 would be great with it. Its also the Small version, which is what Id want ideally.
The 2x10 combo is running an 8 ohm internal load, so you'd need an 8 ohm extension cab to get the 500w.
I dont understand...the info says its 4 ohms...yet it doesnt confirm it. I need to double check.
Did anyone on here bag one of the 2x12 combos?
Im thinking of the 2x10 if its 4 ohms...itll stop me gassing for a Walkabout 1x12 for a bit
