What colour was the £1700 one ? One of these: [url="http://www.music-man.com/instruments/basses/classic-stingray-4.html"]http://www.music-man.com/instruments/basse...stingray-4.html[/url] ? They are £1700 ish in most stores at the moment. Most striking feature is the varnished neck.

I now have a 5 bass limit. I rarely get to play 5 so any more is just a waste (until Im earning more). But, I definitely want a Custom Shop Fender in my life, more than a true vintage. Ill see what the next year brings.

The best overall value lightweight amp, for me, is the Markbass LM2/3. £560 ish new, prices vary secondhand Clear, warm and articulate is how I would describe MB. Great kit.

A standard Ray 4 brand new (eg 3 EQ/Single H/Normal Colour/Unpainted Headstock) should be no more than £1200-£1300 new. £1700 is REALLY high. Was it LTD or high spec?

Luckily I got a great deal on the two Ive recently ordered and Im really excited. They are very popular, which can be a problem as people dont seem to realise quite how 'high end' a Stingray really is. I sold two, to fund other Ernie Balls, but I decided on another Ray 4 and Ray 5 HS in the end....in the colour I prefer.

LH500 plus a decent 2x12 or 4x10.

It's a pain because in the end you come back to what you originally had, or at least similar.

This 'magical' formula seems all well and good, but as always from now on I'll reserve judgement until I hear it myself. The whole 1x12 x 2, or 2x12 is so close it's barely worth worrying about. The 2x12 might be a little bigger, but I'd suggest testing before making any decisions. It seems 2-3 people have heard it in the USA yet I hear people almost reviewing the cabinet blind. Berg make great gear, that is a well known fact, but sone players will always prefer other brands that may or may not be superior.

[/quote] You also get a much more versatile EQ with the RH450, and the fact it 'looks' a little more polished with the red LEDs, etc. I it were me, Id pick the RH450 time and time again. The features work really well.

I cannot remember the exact logistics of this, but my old band played Aberdeen at some point on our tour. We drove all the way from the Midlands where we had had played the night before, stopped in Newcastle, went on a night out, spent too much money on going out and fuel, then slept, then went to Aberdeen (fairly huge drive). Whisky and using services showers were a highlight. I loved it, the difference is we virtually never got paid at all as it just doesn't work like that in the scene we were part of. So w actually shelled out a lot to play our own gigs. Classic. Aberdeen was awesome.

Apparently its a touch bigger and louder than two x DB112.

Bergantino are fantastic, but then again you already have a fantastic cabinet. Its all down to your ears. If you must go Berg, then Id listen to them first then decide which you prefer.

2x12. If you dont need REALLY HIGH volumes, which no doubt the 2x12 can do anyway, id go with the 2x12. The AE410 has huge amounts of volume capabilities. I had never used 12s until May last year, and now I really like the tone.

I sense that you arent very happy with the wait?

If Thomann had these in stock I would probably order one at that price!
