2.
Good point that! £350 seems a bloody bargain.
+1, that is damn cheap. A board with casters would be excellent.
  3.
very interesting, does this all mean you can mimick any amp out there, provided you knew the details of what amp you were mimicking. All very nice but at the same time I think, if I wanted that marbass clear high or ampeg grit or orange warmth, I'd buy those amps in question, but this tweak aslo means you have all those option available no?
Yeah, I think thats the idea. Its still the 'TC' sound, but if you like the Ampeg tone (more so the big SVTs) then you will definitely like this amp. WoT on this forum, a long time Mesa user, is really into the sound of the TC. I wasnt convinced by the RH450 until I tested it out. It really does sound amazingly warm and 'tube' like, but with the articulation that digital can give you.
  4.
I wouldn't stress about a combo, there are so many great little amps around now. My vote would be a Euphonic Audio head, (used 500?) and a wizzy 1x12 or Barefaced Midget. My GK MB150 still surprises me...but every now and then it sounds crap! All depends on the room. My other suggestion is the old SWR 220 head - its a puny 160w into 8 ohms, but a small modern 4ohm cab could sound very good and plenty loud?
I have to admit, you might be best off with a really nice amp and a super small/light cabinet. That way its not just a combo and works out better value.
  5.
Hi bass people I'm selling my Japanese Fender Precision 51 Reissue, bought it second hand from the Gallery in Camden in 2008 and it was mint then, guessing it's about a 2007/8 but not sure. It's a gloss maple neck, sunburst body with a beautiful grain. I had a normal precision bridge fitted by Martin Peterson as the factory bridge on this bass had only two saddles and so had only limited intonation adjustment; now it's fully adjustable. The rest of the bass is all original, seriously good Jap build quality, built like a brick s**thouse. This is a mid-weight bass; it's slightly heavier than my old 60s p-bass but much lighter than my Les Paul. The bass is in nearly new condition, there is a fine hairline scratch an inch and a half long on the front which is very shallow and doesn't show from most angles and a tiny bit of scuffing on the side (both shown in photos). This bass has a great setup, medium to high, and it sounds fantastic; if you want an old-skool Fender sound this is the one. Several sound engineers have commented that they preferred the tone and signal of this bass over my vintage basses! I am selling it because I don't play it much and it's sitting in storage, to be honest I find the uncontoured slab body uncomfortable for me to play standing up, some people like the feel of an old slab bass but not me! Here's some pictures: If you want to hear it here's some video clips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsX4-t9LaXA http://video.mytaratata.com/video/iLyROoafvVam.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opRKTwzD_wc The Duffy clips you're hearing a mix of half DI and half through an Ampeg SVT-VR. The Marina clip it's straight out the back of a TC RH450 on pre so that's basically the clean sound of the bass. Looking for £500, I'll chuck in an old Warwick Rockbag if you like. I'm in North London, prefer pickup in person. Cheers Ben
That IS a nice grain! Have a bump! Great playing btw.
  6. I think the Shuttle 3.0 10T is your best bet. Definitely.
  7.
Well there is 30kg's with a handle on the top and 30kg's with 2 well placed handles on a cab that doesn't slam your knuckles into door frames But either way they weigh 30kg's if that's heavy shop else where but you will not get a better 2x12 let alone a better one for the money.
I can just about handle 30kg...id prefer a little less. Ive sent an email to see what they say
  8.
Agh, I really love MM's but the clip is one of the reasons I'd always think twice about buying into one... to me it sounds way too top-heavy, and pretty clicky, I don't find that there is much depth to the sound of this particular clip, and for what I'm doing I think it would get lost in the mix. It serves it's purpose, but it's not my thing. Then again, horses for courses... I love my P-Bass with flatwound strings but i guess again it's just not for everyone.
I realised the past few months that you can get an awesome motown thump from a Stingray 2 or 3 band EQ. The key? Careful EQing, fingerstyle, and if you want to go the full hog, flats
  9.
I didn't know you were the Cry For Silence bassist, probably saw you once, but I can't remember where or supporting who! Enjoy the gig!!
I saw Cry For Silence YEARS back, probably around 9 years ago or so when they were a full on hardcore band. Were you part of them at this point? Ive still got a demo CD from the gig. It was an all dayer in Sheffield. PS - Awesome gig, CONGRATULATIONS. Im jealous.
  10.
I think the Shuttle is out of my price range, don't they come in about £700?!!!!... If they're around what I can afford I'll be on one like an aggressive moss! Eude
I've seen them for less than £600.
  11. Shuttle 3.0 10T
  12.
While they'll do mostly anything you ask for a price, i think if you want lightweight and small your barking up the wrong tree
I know they arent really well known for small cabinets....im just thinking a fairly compact 2x12...nothing as small as say a Schroeder. Lightish is what Im after....I realise they dont do really light, but after reading up they do neo speakers so that would help.
  13. Can anyone comment on Matamps 2x12 cabinets? Ive seen some of the examples on here and the prices are awesome. Im wondering what they can do; eg a vertical 2x12, sweet high end tweeter (nothing harsh), 4 ohm, lots of volume capability, lightweight as possible, fairly compact? I really want it to be under 60lbs and quite 'compact' for a 2x12. Im just thinking on and GASSING I suppose. I love 2x12s! Ive dropped them an email. Feel free to PM or contribute on the thread if you have prices etc.
  14.
Yeah the end was sweet too. I just get bored with that speed-metal "blat blat blat blat" drumming these days - it's too much like what I was into as a kid. If the drummer was more dynamic then I'd be right into all of this. I can't find the Horse track.
Ah, well what happened is the drumming in most metal/thrash is just alternating bass drum n snare played really quick with a hi hat/cymbals. The hardcore and punk scene, as you probably know, developed it to be a triplet feel on the single bass drum (my drummer noted this takes a lot more skill). It gives the guitar/bass more of a bouncy double time, which was really popular in mid 90s punk in the USA. This band mixed hardcore with punk and added tech metal to bring what you hear here; technical punk. Another band that springs to mind would be Strung Out. I personally side a lot more with punk than metal, just because it tends to be melodic and they don't have the whole daft 'metal' vibe going on. If you type A Wilhelm Scream 'The Horse' into google or YouTube it should come up The tapping starts about 20 seconds in.
  15.
That intro was awesome. The rest didn't blow my fringe back much but I appreciate the skill.
The end is pretty nice as well. Check out 'The Horse' if you like the tapping. Great track and serious skill!
  16.
He's technically very proficient (the bassist of course) - not heard this lot before, seems like half way between modern punk and early Metallica/Megadeth type thrash metal. Interesting. And yeah, the 'Ray actually sounded pretty good on this clip
I think they are all fans of Maiden/Metallica but didnt want to be in a metal band. You can definitely hear the Maiden influences all over it. But its modern, faster, and punk
  17. I'm guessing something with a 15... Either that or a start to a new range. Or, possibly another type of 2x12.
  18. Punks come a long way folks. This technical bass playing is awesome and is one of the main reasons I started seriously learning finger style a year or so ago. A WILHELM SCREAM Enjoy
  19. I'm lucky to have the option to try both these options, and believe me it works either way. As the 210 would be close to your ear you would be getting the sweeter punchy high end near your ear, then the warm low and mids coupled to the floor. TC designed them so they can be mixed and matched. If 'phasing' was a serious issue, then all the manufacturers who insist on it would be making a lot more money. I can see why people prefer not to mix speaker sizes, but it really doesnt make that much difference in the real world. Basically, try if you can. If you like it, you like it.
  20. Pink is a good colour, and looks classy as hell, and cool. I say go for it. Im not into gold hardware but thats me. Ive seen one of those Stingray Classics in Pink and it was stunning. Edit: Here we go PINK RAY
  21. I must admit the NASH logo on the headstock is pretty cool. Good addition.

  23. Hi chaps So far im really enjoying changing the parameters! I havent gigged them with the changes as yet, but plenty of rehearsals. I realise some users may not require all these extras for the RH450, but personally I think if TC release this as an option to use with the RH450, them it would attract those who really like to tweak. Ultimate flexibility! Ive been attempting to try and match the Staccato 51' (as close as I can) with what Ive heard about it and the test I had with one for a while in a store. All good fun I never once though 2-3 years ago that amps would come this far and sound this good in such a small slick package. Thanks
  24.
LOL. At least its low budget GAS now. I was very saddened to find Bass Chat was blocked on the hotels WiFi all week. Just as well i had Talkbass ;-)
Thats classic. What excuse did you give when you were on talkbass whilst on holiday?!
  25. Great collection!
