1.
Find a lightweight speaker you like and nail a RH450 to the top of it
Damn good sense. I'm looking for a small cab that's 4 ohms and the only ones I like the look of are the EA Whizzy cabs. Seriously light and small.
 2. Are they doom though?
 3.
At least get my username right you.... debutant! I got your pm, and the one from a Zach and an Essential Tension so now... it's only 3 strips left
Whoops! That's me rushing on the iPhone. Many thanks.
 4. Let me know on that TF Fretless by the way...should you ever want to sell it.
 5. Jigster your LM2 is going to sound massively different now! Probably a lot easier to get your sound. Those amps are capable of serious low end, in fact the louder it goes the deeper it goes according to Talkbass chaps, (which is different to the F1/500 as that gets tighter). A little goes a LONG way with the VPF/VLE. Probably the best two knobs on the amp....I leave the EQ mainly flat and just use the filters sparingly.
 6. PM'd Mr Grand Wazoo!
 7. Definitely real. 8.
I didn't mention Bergantino, Epifani or Mesa Boogie because I thought they would be too expensive. Surely with the economic problems in Greece they'll be some good bass equipment coming up on the second hand market at bargain prices?
+1. A Berg/Mesa is already top money...much more than the others mentioned, and it would cost a fortune to get over there. Then the OP might not even like it, but again he might not like the others. To me, there is no one definitive 'best 4x10', and the only brands I haven't tried are Epifani and Mesa. With 2x12s the DB212 has beat virtually all competition for myself when it came to core tone, but I haven't as yet found a 4x10 that was amazingly better than the others. I think a careful look around the used Market and products available new at lower pricing is a good idea.
 9.
new as in 2010? I'm not too keen on the 70's kinda sound, myself so other than the highway one I was looking at the '62 RI and the 60s jazz. I'm going to try some in my local music shop, it'll be interesting to see how the pickups compare to the fender CS ones I have in my DIY Jazz. I'm sure I'm gassing for an EBMM ray, and could get one used for 800, or a bit more, buttgeonly ones that tickle me are the pre EB ones and the newer classic series ( classics purely on design ) although that big al bass seems interesting aswell.
Don't worry the American Standards are the 60s pickup location. They reverted back to this after the 70s I do believe. Believe me you can get a nice warm tone and the classic growl from a 2008-2010 American Standard. Rays are always a good choice!
 10. I'd be quite interested to get a home made mute on one of my Ps just to try it.
 11. Id keep it as it is. Down the line you might regret it. Keep it fretted and save for a second hand or new fretless Stingray/Sterling/Big Al/Bongo...they would be my choice in fretless, or a Tony Franklin Fretless P.
 12. Ive used the SVT 4x10 myself for a few gigs, and I wasnt overly impressed. It does the job, but I went for the Orange in the end as it feels like its pushing more low end. But its all personal choice.
 13.
P? Check. Flats? Check. You're done. PS - don't be afraid to roll the tone off.
+1 Dont be afraid of using it as stock, (apart from the strings, which are suprisingly good on these new models, but are quite zingy nickels until you wear them in). The stock parts are very very good. I wouldnt change a thing on mine.
 14.
yiiip., 4.5 hours to go and its standing at £815, now I wouldn't pay a penny more as they are about £1250 new when haggled, interesting to see how much it will fetch in the end.
£1250 new isnt bad at all! Quite surprised if im honest.
 15.
Its a nice though but the GAS just keeps on coming!
This time I have to. Money has to go elsewhere from now on....! For a year or so anyway
 16.
Guess it wouldnt hurt,,,,,, the band are called "Something Corporate" have a greatest hits out at min..... big in America etc....
Just realised we have a copy of their first album in the house. I can see your bass on the pictures
OMG Fragile Canada, they're one of my favourite bands too!
Megzlolz
 17.
I've just 'rediscovered' Stingrays and forgot just how much I like the noise they make. This one is my fifth or sixth and first 3eq pre. I have the mid set to centre and TBH it doesn't sound any different to the 2eq. The build quality has always impressed me although the pre-EB I owned was very heavy. My first one was a 1989 (I think) that I got from Musical Exchanges in Birmingham in 1995 which I kept for almost ten years. My favorite one was a battered white/maple '86 which I was mad to sell. This black one is a pretty newish one and is an absolute peach.
Nice! Black/maple or White/maple is always a good combo.
 18. Is that the 'one' that was viciously stolen? Glad its back btw. How is it nowadays?
 19.
Hey fellows.looking in to buy a good 4x10 cabinet soon for my bands studio, live gigs and maybe recordings as well.looking into something that has a good "punch" (like an ampeg lets say?).also looking for an amp to match it,but thats another story here's some cabs i have in mind(i wouldnt mind spending over about 800 euros, sorry for saying euros but i live in greece): 1.SWR Golliath 4x10 (not for sale anymore, found it from some dude for 500 euros) 2.Hartke hx410 hydrive (http://www.thomann.de/gr/hartke_hx410_hydrive.htm) 3.Ampeg svt410 (http://www.thomann.de/gr/ampeg_svt410hlf_bassbox.htm) 4.Orange sp410 (http://www.thomann.de/gr/orange_sp410_or.htm) this one is small too so it could help for live gigs since im kinda of a noob,it would be useful if someone gave me some advice for one of these cabs.thanks guys. Chris
If weight isnt an issue, check the Aguilar 4x10s. Id love a DB410 but Ive got the Orange OBC410 therefore its not necessary.
 20.
That sums it up quite well ,In your opinion unless the right pre EB comes your way you would not part with the extra £500,To others they would not part with the extra cash for a Limited edition even an important an genuinely different one like a 30th,(again unless something just clicked)Which shows just how good value for money a bog standard EB in whatever colour comes your way really is.There really are little differences between them all. After your first its just a reason for buying more and all the better for it,Thats why they make LE's in the first place to tempt people who already know 99% of what they are buying. I certainley would not sell my EB at the rock bottom prices that are out there and maybe a few who do will regret it?For those who have not got one at all "get 'em while they're cheap!" Got any pics of this 30th? they make me go all funny! Now wheres that lottery ticket?
I agree, I got a 'good' price for mine and they deserved it, but I regret selling one of them! Never mind. Im hoping the next 3 EBMMs I have coming are all keepers like the Fenders Ive got. Then Im DONE with buying.
 21.
How do you know? It's not been built yet. Hehe. I want to do something similar one day, just have zero time available...
Whoops!
 22. These cabs have got to be the lightest 4x10s out there...well at least one of them. Good price!
 23.
QED http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=90789 Not quite as low as £600, but still great VFM. EDIT Not mine and not anyone I know, I just saw these this morning.
2 of them are mine that I sold to Jim, and they literally are almost fresh from factory condition I sure hope someone realises they are a bargain
 24.
I always knew that I would eventually settle on an NS/Streamer bass but it's taken me an age to find 'the one' (despite thinking I was there on a few occasions) but I've finally got 'it' and consequently my collection of basses are going to be whittled away! Peace at last. Amps and cabs... the Thunderfunk will unlikely ever be beaten IMHO but cabs are still a bit of a bugbear as I want the tone I get from my Aggie DB12's but with 50% of the weight.
If Aguilar make a version of the DB212/112 in neo form, but with that massive authority and punch the DBs provide, then I think they will make a killing. I doubt they'd ever going fully neo, but I did email the Aguilar Customer Service about lightweight offerings, and they basically said watch this space. I cant find anything better than what Ive got (for me anyway), so Im stopping.
