I am thoughly enjoying my recently acquired Nash JB-63. Such a great, worn-in feeling instrument. BassDirect are going to stock them (4 on order) but until Mark gets them in, here's another site (a German one) which stocks some nice examples for you to peruse. There's a very Pino-ish 63-PB amongst them. And for the anti-fake Fender brigade, they are now using 'NashGuitars' as the headstock decal.
Their policy (TC's) in the US seems to be to replace warranty returns. Once repaired the returned units are then sold to dealers to resell as B grade units with a healthy discount. Presumably Panic Music do the same?
I've no idea. Put it this way, after speaking to TC themselves I'm very happy with their customer service. Their amps are good prices for what you get, as are the cabinets. Mesa are great, but the UK prices are just plain silly.

Its finding the right 12" that isnt overpriced that is my own personal annoyance....
I like Guitar Guitar, but I do think they need to overhaul their bass selection. It's a bit middle of the road, and the top line bass stuff just seems to be Ricks and high end jazz basses. I'd like to see them get some cooler stuff in to match their awesome guitars.
They do have a great shop in Newcastle, I must admit (and I realise they have expanded so business must be great!). All Ive noticed is their pricing seems quite a lot more than everywhere else. Eg a Stingray is £1300 from them, whereas elsewhere in Newcastle its £1169. They must have a fantastic business plan as theyve managed to be the No 1 Sadowsky importer, and they have the Lakland importing contract. The store here has a LOT of super Jazzes in stock, and some cool Aguilar/TC/Phil Jones bits n pieces. I am also spoilt as their guitar stock is phenomenal; customer shop Fender Strats/Teles everywhere. Ive only bought one cab from them and some guitar effects/power supply. Great service and when the power supply had a problem they gave me a new one no problem.

I went in to their Newcastle store today and had a look. The Suhrs seem awfully expensive for the overall 'look'. Some of the Sadowsky's are very pretty though. They must be doing very well, despite their high pricing, as they seem to be stocking a LOT of high end basses/guitars. Some of it I would not have on general 'shop' display if im honest. They also had the new TC lower priced 1x15 combo....its a great price if im honest but its HUGE! Great if you are on a budget

Ah...right. Hmm. Ive not got a digital MB amp, but Ive got the TC. The sound of the RH doesnt go through the cab; its just the actual unit itself I believe. Im pretty sure any F1/F500 owner would be able to sort this out. Put a topic on talkbass....someone over there will answer really quickly

The digital amps of the modern day can make quite a funny 'zip' noise when turned off. The TC RH450 does this. Its sounds futuristic; I like it. I tried another RH450 and it was exactly the same. Im pretty sure that virtually all digital amps make a whoosh or zip when then are turned on/off. It may also be your fan powering up or down.

Good idea...
I dont, but I mean that even with no bass plugged in or the volume turned right down on the amp there seems to be an inherent hiss through the tweeter. I might be making too much of it!
Ah, I see. Hmm, I know JTUK and plenty of other Basschatters have these cabs. they will chime in soon and help I reckon. Its probably nothing, but best to always check

I owned a modern 810E (Ampeg) for about 9 months. It sounded pretty lame at low volume levels. When I bought the Aguilar cabs, my ears suddenly starting hearing so much more! I vote for two 4x10s. One 8x10 is a real pain to move unless you have friends who will help all the time/live in a house/can store it safely in a practice room/have a big enough van. As with most gear, it was the 'hype' from seeing bands that made me get an 8x10. I didnt like it. My advice? If you want a powerhouse cabinet, get a stunning 4x10 (4 ohm) or something like the Berg NV610. Youd be surprised at what the TC RS cabs can do; its the height advantage that makes them sound HUGE.

Hmm Its a Ray with an F500? Do you have you mids/highs boosted a lot on your bass?
-
Hi! What do you mean by hiss? There is a certain 'noise' with nearly all tweeters, especially if you run your treble high and have the tweet on full. My DB212 makes a VERY slight noise near the tweet but you have to really listen for it. Thats with a very similar LM3. Usually I have tweeters on max 1/3...or off.

Im doing a similar thing with a Stingray I want to order to replace my Classic. It would be White body/black plate/black pickguard/maple board. Purely as the other EBs I have coming are rosewood and I like a mixture.

Breaking a string at a gig - has this happened to you?
Musicman20 replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
Yep, all the time in my driving guitar punk pop days. Used to break a string every 4 or 5 gigs but then I did play fairly heavy with a pick. Not heavy as in heavy music, heavy as in I play heavy. Got quite good as being able to improvise the bass lines with one less string. Quite a weird feeling when a string breaks. String goes all floppy and it feels like everything goes to jelly as both hands try to make contact with a solid string and trying to find the right note on a different string I have found that now I play with fingers more, I still dig in really hard and get a clanking sound as the strings hit the frets and pole pieces on the pickups. I tend to hit down on the strings rather that pluck them upwards. I guess its different if not ideal
+1 Back in my old band, I used to use light Rotos with a fairly heavy ish pick, and play REALLY fast, and when we were on tour the adrenaline often hit me onstage so id dig in far too much. Snapped a few E's and A's doing that. It will probably happen again. Recently Im playing much calmer music, but Im missing that massive adrenaline rush of playing ridiculously fast on a Precision. Cant beat punk. -
I'm now GAS-free - MarkBass, Schroeder and Sansamp

There is possibly going to be a dealer for the north very soon. -
Birdseye maple neck, thats it. Not keen on flame/quilted bodies, but thats just me

I still personally like having a pedal; I don't really want my phone on the floor

There is a few updates on the 'Schroeder' front. Are they still quite popular in the UK? -
It seems like a lot but its because of the exchange rate! The NYC i bought 2 years ago when it was $2 to the £1 cost $4085 (just over £2000) now at today's rates the same bass would be £2800 ahh i remember the days when a metro 4 string was about £1400 im so glad i bought when i did
£1400 seems much more reasonable!
-
They do have some high end basses in stock, but I think the pricing, especially on Metro Sadowskys, is insane! Almost £2100. Its a shame most of their prices across the whole bass range is quite high.
So I'm guessing that the Rotisserie ovens and tumble dryers didn't give him the tone he was after. However, who would have guessed that he'd start endorsing Orange!! http://www.bravewords.com/news/140090
This is quite cool.

I was going to say rosewood, but the colour of the bass and the pickups in this instance means the maple just tips it!
