If you like the more warm chewy mids, and like to 'feel' some bass behind you, the 2x10 + 2x12 works very well. The 2x10 x 2 is more of a punchy tone machine.

Tom purchased one of my instrument cables last week. Fantastic basschatter; buy or sell to Tom with full confidence
-
Id be interested to know if he ever thinks AC might produce a slightly cheaper range, like the Sadowsky Metros.
Thanks for the feedback dude! Sounds right up my alley. So you think the 2x10 would be a suitable replacement from the 4x10? It's a battered 15 year old peavey cab that was a gift at that, and it's the only cab i've ever owned! And potentially enough for backline-only? -Dave
If you are getting just the one cab, the RS212 is probably a better option. If you want a modular 4x10, then two RS210s would be spot on. Vertically they sound massive due to the fact you can actually hear your notes correctly
Hi folks! I'm on the hunt for a new cab to replace my dying peavy 4x10, and I've always loved the markbass 2x10 STD (but it's ouchies expensive) and I like the look of the Hartke 4x10s, but I've been recommended the TC Electronics RS210. They look excellent for the money, but has anyone actually got any experience with them? I'm looking for something reasonably light, nice and loud (for my markbass little mark ii 500watts) and punchy. Thanks guys! Dave
The TC cabs would be a very nice upgrade from the Peavey. Id describe them as tight, and punchy. The horn is nicely tamed with just the right amount of sweeter high end, (eg not brash and in your face). Id recommend the latest versions with the new smooth black finish. Only problem is they have just gone up by £100 each! They are easy to move and the covers are also a good price.

The 2EQ bass control has a lower freq shelving, but it's down to very low sub bass that doesn't make much difference. If you really cranked that area it's more likely to take a strain on your amp/speakers.
-
I agree the 2EQ is a more driving P type tone, whereas the 3EQ always reminded me of a much more aggressive and bassier version of a Jazz, (sort of). It's definitely worth listening and trying before making your mind up, as I've realised. Usually I like the original designs but with the Ray the 3EQ just works.
-
Just resurfacing this topic... Ive been listening to the clips again, and as my Classic is no longer incoming, I was thinking of just getting a new 4 string Ray, single H. At first I thought it has to be 2EQ. Now listening again, I think Id miss the complexity and sheer grunt of the 3EQ. Its a tone Ive gotten used to for years, and all the bands I like normally have 3 EQ Rays to really blast through the mix. Thanks for these clips Linus.

Over the weekend Ive had my old drummer up visiting. I used to play with that guy all over the UK for literally no money. I definitely miss the adrenaline rush of playing that type of music so Im thinking of just committing myself to the originals band Ive got going and leaving the covers scene again. Dont get me wrong id like to do it, but Im a bit wary of joining bands I dont know anything about now....Id rather wait it out and join something with people I know or join a more 'fun' outfit thats a little more honest from the word go. I joined a covers band years back when I was 15, and I was handpicked from a group of people by my tutor and he basically told them to get me in. I recorded for them, rehearsed once a week, and played paid gigs. No hassle, good lads, and they were at least 6-7 years older than me. This recent issue was nowhere near as fun or relaxed. Its Rolling Stones covers; it doesnt take more than a few moments to get upto speed. -
Do these have a Stingray or Sterling -type neck, anyone know? I like the look of them and the electronics look good but I can't get on with clunky Stingray-style necks.
Apparently its the slimmer Sterling neck profile, as per the announcement of the bass on the EBMM forums. Not sure where the link in Ill check.

SP - Yep, he appears to have just pulled a random low number out of the bag. At first he mentioned nothing apart from they have to be prepared for gigs they had lined up. They said nothing about the twice a week slots; in fact they just said as long as things are tight the gigs will suffice. That's what wound me up I think. I believe all in all I've actually been over to the rooms around 18 times in the past few months, and I had no problems with organising dates until this last few weeks. It was the guitarist who couldn't make it last time, and the vocalist was moving house, which I agree warrants time off practice. I've spent roughly £100 plus on absolutely nothing. Half of their time is spent rolling fags/smoking fags and 'other' types of fags/PA setup/trying to get vocals in tune. -
What happened to the classic ray G'? It's amazing how more vintage yours looks as well. I'd gas for that if the burst wasn't so dramatic, as in too much black. I think these share the same controls as the Relfex they just announced. But 4 band pre? Me like!!! Edit: just heard it. Now I really do have gas.
Ah, unfortunately it had some issues issues with the neck when it arrived. I decided against waiting for another as it put me off in a way. Big Al 5 and Ray 5 will be more than enough anyway

I almost started to bite again on the Ginger Pit Forum, almost. Especially when he somehow decided I was crap despite the fact he was very impressed with me when I played with them. I wont bother though. I have no doubts about my skills, I think they just want someone to be there to play the basics and be part of their clan. EDIT: Who has signed up as Shambo ? -
Thanks man, i forgot about that. It does come with cover (now edited) Will add shipping costs when i find out.
Sounds good. Padded cover included makes things easier. I always wanted one of these...always. It was my dream 'big cab' but I dont know if Id get to use it much Whats the overall condition like of cab and cover? Cheers (sorry Qs Qs!)
Not a sniff at this. Am i asking too much? Can anyone who has used berg stuff help me out a little here? Price revision possibly coming up.
Does it come with the cover? Also, probably might tempt people in, whats the shipping cost? Cheers
None of it makes sense to me, I think I have missed something. How many are in this band - the ad doesn't even say! Have you/they ever played in other bands? If they are a start up band then they should have all gone away for a few weeks and learned lots of tunes on their own, then 4 weeks of 2 practices a week should have them up and ready to gig - do a few small pub gigs to gage audience reaction and clear first night nerves - job done. Were you just rehearsing music or adding choreography too? They say they are making money - you say you are not gigging. They say you have no gear - you say you aren't willing to leave your gear at the rehearsal space. I joined a 5 piece and was gigging with them within 4 weeks one practice a week. We practice once a week and there have been issues that mean we've only gigged twice this year. I'm looking for another band to do in parallel, one that plays more than it rehearses. Be careful - some people just want to be in a band to tell their mates that they are in a band. They say they want to gig, but really only ever want to practice and do the occasional gig in front of those "mates". Move on. Work out exactly what you want to do and are prepared to do first. Make that clear to the next band before you join.
Thanks, I agree. Wise words
The statement "we earn quite good money" implies the fact and will attract a lit of bass players who wish to earn monies off this gig, and "quite good" what's that enough to live off? A few extra hundred? Or a tenner every month or so when try actually get a gig. Then they are totally hypocritical and say they arnt interested in the "mighty (pound) dollar". Well excuse me don't advertise the availabilty of good money and expect a 15 year old kid who just wants to rock his socks off. To me they are being completely misleading. I would lack effortto lug hear around after being told I would make "good money" and after four months recieve nothing. I realise a lot of people understanding of "good money" is different but I work for nearly minium wage, that's not good money. I've only been gigging since last December but have since always played for free, and have played along side a band I consider proffessional. They were cool chaps, played, gigged a lot and got paid, and even though it was operated out of the back of a transit, if I was paying them I'd be happy. Also dealt with otherwise of the spectrum on a free gig, meddly type deal. The guys showed up late, complained and spent 20 minutes effectivily plugging in and tuning up..... Not cool. Plus 1 though to TimR.
I think that was it, the first thing they said to me was harp on about money, and then it never happened for 4 months. They have cancelled the future gigs as well now as no bass and the vocalist is still not ready.
I think I know G quite well and he is an honest guy, passionate about bass and all things bass. Kit really is not a problem ( jeez..I can't believe they said that ) and to trek 60 odd miles twice a week for 4 months is NOT a lack of commitment, in my book. If they wanted to change things...for their own reasons, then that is their choice, but a quiet word like, it is not working we need to look at other options would have been the correct way of doing things. I don't know when they were going to clear this 'detail' up but they don't sound like the type of band I'd want to do business with in any sense. A name change is a very good idea because, IMV, the current one is mud...
+1 on the name change. Thanks for the support!
the 'we earn good money' would imply to me they are up and running and obviously making money. A band that is up and running doesn't need constant practices. Maybe with a change of line-up then yes to get new members up to speed. The established members should be up to speed so if they needed the practice time something is very wrong for a band earning good money. As for leaving the stuff at the rehearsal space no chance you hardly know them space is unattended, no thank you. Especially since you could get a phone call and be kicked out, then there is the possibility of them making things awkward to get your gear back. One other thing WTF is the craic with miking the drum kit every practice
I really dont like leaving cabs worth £500+ in a room I know little about. Gigs would have brought out the big guns But it never got that far. Im glad I had nothing there as id have to go and get it and bump into them. I think the drummer loves being loud, thats it.
The more I read about this Gareth, the more I think that it just comes down to incompatability. You weren't right for them, and they weren't right for you. If I was you, I would leave all this slagging behind you and put this down to experience. Dwelling on the negatives will just make you bitter. At least you will know which questions to ask your next prospective band!
+1, time to bow out with some dignity I think. Ive left them to it and im not responding to any 'digs' they make anymore. All in all I think it was for the best, and its probably best its happened right now. -
I've finally reached a stage of gaslessness, not found since selling on my Genz Benz rig But now im finally sorted Markbass SD1200 arrived today , paired with my 2 x 410's sounds absolutely amazing, and is actually shaking my house And then to top it all off, Ive just won a shroeder 2x12 for the smaller gigs And my 2nd shuker should be here next week! And as a result of me reaching this state of Nirvana, i can pass on some bargains to you Basschatters! Am Selling my state of the Art ISP rig (active cab + Preamp+cover) and my Glockenklang preamp/poweramp setup for ridiculous money, so check out the respective threads in the marketplace If anyone is considering an SD1200, do it, they are top notch
That's a LOT of power If it's like the big daddy to the F500 then it must be a winner!

It continues, he met me through joinmyband and realising I've found out he has now advertised on there with a few more digs. Nice! Plenty of maturity from a man is his late 30s.
This is just nonsense. No disrespect to anybody involved, but if I was looking for a bassist and was skimming through the 'available' ads, the OP's opening couple of lines would have me moving smartly on to the next ad. Don't want to dampen down this feeding frenzy (it's obviously keeping a few people entertained), but I can see merit in both arguments and to have the word 'Professional' bandied about while acting in anything like a professional manner (I'm having to duck the sheer quantity of toys flying around which have originated from the OP's pram) is a bit ironic. Just my opinion, but the OP's 'bassist available' ad is more concerned with getting back at the ex-band, than a serious attempt to advertise one's wares. Completely self-defeating exercise as I'm sure other bands would look at the ad and come to the same conclusion as I have. It's a team game, the OP didn't agree with the training methods, move on, next please. If the band were sneaky advertising for a replacement, then the OP's diatribe against that band and individual members on a public forum is just as questionable. They sound just like my cup of tea, plenty get-togethers and don't care too much about making a filthy profit. Just a pity I'm several hundred miles away.
Feel free to join. The last guy left due to too many rehearsals as well. I sensed a great deal of lies when I slowly realised they were no way near as 'big' as they made out. I wasnt interested in a 'filthy profit'. Ive thrown thousands at playing over the years, and played for free in the DIY punk scene across the UK countless times. I will continue to as well. I was ASKED to join their band and their terms stated they only do it for the extra money and a little fun. Thats the only reason I wanted to play songs im not really interested in; a little extra help with money, AND to get better at playing new styles. I have my own originals band which will never ever get paid as we are far too obscure. TBH, they werent really my type of band, or the type of people id go to the pub with. As soon as I discussed my background (Trainee Solicitor) they seemed a little edgy...and I think I know why. Different people im afraid, and not very nice. I dont like meeting people like this, it ruins my faith in integrity and friendship. Please dont get irritated with my attempt to earn a little by entertaining people. Some people make a living off it. -
