1. PS - WOT - Do you need me, WH and Conan to be your roadies? I dont care what I carry as long as I can come to the gig!
 2.
(I actually like to hear a nice regional accent on a woman, and the Geordie accent is one of my favourites).
+1...half the reason I moved here. The best 'accents' always seem to surprise me on women who are incredibly intelligent and/or have a very high profile position in a company, then as soon as they speak, you suddenly realise all is well, and you can have a normal conversation with them. Geordie or Scouse accents on nice ladies are the best!
 3.
Hey, quality review, found it on my travels, after your post on my thread. GAK are doing what seems like a good deal on this set up, and it's very tempting, but along came Matamp. Th Orange cabs seem very solid, I'm wondering how Matamp's cabs match up. Oh, and there's nothing wrong with how things look
Cheers!
 4.
Strikes me as extremely good business sense? So you own a Mesa, Genz, TC or whatever, and it blows. You go back to the shop and they tell you it'll be two to four weeks before they can get in a replacement. However, in the meantime, here's Markbass to the rescue. It's advertising for sure, and it'll be costing MB a lot of money to do, but unlike most advertising, it'll be helping out a few bassists (and retailers), and on that basis they should be applauded for taking the initiative. C
Its a fantastic business idea, +1 PS - I really like that front plate!
 5.
Birmingham might be a good shout. It's fairly central, good transport links, lots of hotels etc. What do you think? Truckstop
Probably a good idea!
 6.
If you love the Orange, get it. I would not advise you to buy the Matamp without trying it out, that's the whole point with their amps by the way.Try it,have them tweak it to your liking. I had about the same thoughts you have.I tried an Orange AD200MK3,loved it.Then i heard about Matamp being handbuilt,no circuitboard and so on.And that the Matamp would be insanely loud. I bought a Matamp in standardversion without trying it.(I live in Sweden)It sounded very different to the Orange, more like a Mesa/Boogie.It was a bit louder but with 2 cabs the Orange is loud too. Yes the Matamp is VERY well built, compared to the Orange, but the Orange might be good enough. In the end it's all about what it sounds like IMHO,so try the Matamp, you know what the Orange sounds like.
Excellent advice from a bassist who has been there and tried them all! I agree, its down to your tastes. Personally, I bought the AD200b because the tube grind is best IVE personally had the chance to hear. Not only that, Ive experienced excellent customer service and help from Neil at their Head Office. I was given the chance to go and test all their new amps last year around this time, and that was brilliant. The engineers came in and said: 'Sorry, there is a problem!' At this point I thought I had been too loud. Then he said: 'we can't hear you upstairs, you need to turn up a LOT more to appreciate the tone', and laughed. I will, at some point, go and try a Matamp properly and not just for a few moments. I may even custom order one in a few years, who knows. But, at this stage Im really happy with my Orange setup. Another point, whether you choose Orange or Matamp, they are both stupidly loud no matter what. Ive used the OBC115 with the AD200b Mk3 at full volume rehearsals against a drummer, vocalist, and 2 guitarists with 4x12s. I had the gain on approx. 2/3 and the master on 1/3.....awesome dirty tone but you could really 'feel' it coming out of the 1x15....which was elevated.
 7.
However Sheldon, your contributions here are much appreciated.
+1
 8.
It did sound nice, I am used to playing with Marshall JCM2000's hence the huge Ampeg head, it was nice to just blend rather than fight for once.
I am currently quite happy as the one guitarist we have uses the new Orange Thunder 30, so I only have that and a 4x12 of some kind to be mindful of with volume. Yes, 30 watts in guitar valve wattage is VERY loud through a 4x12, but the tube distortion is much smoother, organic and warm compared to the hi-gain Marshalls and Peavey amps Im used to. Plus he uses a lot of clean compared to what Im used to...again its a nice change! I dont battle with volume at all now, in fact a few times Ive been asked to turn down!
 9. National Bash in a central location would be great!
 10. The AD200b is hand made in the UK, as are most of the cabinets they offer. If you like the tone of the Orange, go for it. If you aren't sure, check Matamp for sure! Most of the actual parts to virtually all amps are from overseas. Regarding mixing speakers, I personally don't care...the 4x10 sounds fantastic with the 1x15 and both work well on their own for different flavours. They sound, IMO, much better than the Ampeg 810E I used to own. It's all down to personal taste.
 11. Cool! Thanks!
 12. In addition, the new Genz 212T is vinyl covered.
 13. Man that was a cheap price...Im shocked it didnt go before. I think its just a sign of the times...for the next year im going to try not sell anything
 14. Im guessing we are talking £1500+...is the fliptop a system where the actual cab is part of it? If so, make it more like £1800+. Nice gear though, im glad Ashdown are taking new amps on. Basically, they are giving us what Ampeg havent for a long time...and Im guessing it is UK made?
 15.
All round?
I think I meant best value/low weight/tone ratio...eg you cant beat the LM2/3 for a nice warm, clean and easy to use amp, esp for the price I just wish Markbass has the customer service levels of Genz Benz.
 16. How cool is that?! Tbh, the LM3 is probably the best value 'all round' amp on the market still.
 17. IMO, the 10" will be a worthwhile upgrade. No doubt the 12" is the best if you want to gig the combo, and Id add the same 12" extension cab or a Neo X112T.
 18. Im late to the party! Sorry. Sack him, if you really cant get on. Keep the drummer. Guitarists are everywhere, as are vocalists (when it comes to the punk/hardcore scene anyway). Hope it sorts itself out.
 19.
Than new 3.8lb 500w Aguilar looks like it might be interesting, too...
+1, and if they keep it as high quality and MIA as usual, it will be very popular! Also it's listed as $699 approx so it's going to be a competitive price.
 20.
About that.
Cheers. I need to hear one before I consider it as i expected it to be no more than £750 but I'll await the reviews etc
 21.
What kind of situation is going to need 900 watts?!
Tbh it'll be more like 600-650 from something like a MB head.
 22. Bargain, alas if I were closer id be much more tempted.
 23.
Cheers Gareth. I cant decide what i want to do. Im selling the LMII as i dont use it at the moment and could do with the money. I will need a small head at some point next year though. If i go that route then i dont want to spend much as it might only be used 3 or 4 times. The other option is to spend more but get rid of my SA450 as well. If i do that then something like the Shuttle would be perfect as ill use it every week and can also carry it around. Im also interested in Clarky's TC classic but i need to look in to that and see what the pro's and cons are, and aslo how it will differ tone wise from the MB heads.....and find the money of course.
Ah, got ya. If you fancy a change, the Shuttle 9.0 would be different, as would the TC amps. If you sold the SA450, the 9.0 and Classic would make a nice, but different sounding, pair of amps. Of course, thats if you still want two amps, and if you want to sell the SA450!
 24.
Hi Clarky. Do you have any thoughts on how the tone of this compares to the MB LMII? Im selling my LMII as its not used but will still keep my SA450 as my main head. I do quite fancy this TC head but if i brought it i would probably want to use it as my main amp. As i use my BDDI all the time now i think im ready for something with a bit more character, and this looks ideal. Its just a thought at the moment, i still need to move the LMII first. Cheers.
Hi Dave I can chime in. The Classic/RH450 seems to have a really nice thick low mid 'meat' to it. It does sound quite different to the LMII/III. Id say its got a little more character to the tone, less 'flat' and more like a tradtional old school amp. It can also do the 'quick' sound of modern amps as its Class D, but with a different slant on it. The tone is warm, and the whole 'tube' amp idea is pulled off very well. BTW - It does sound stunning with a Jazz/Precision. You may find you dont use your BDDI as much as the onboard grit is quite nice especially at the sweetspot of about 10 o'clock.
 25. Hmm....personally if you want uber light and pretty powerful, the Shuttle 9.0 can be had for the Nov price drop price of £615 ish....if you ask nicely. That way you have the power of that amp, or the full amp itself, plus its super light. Or, SWR 400W power amp?
