1. "Hey! Im new to here! Im currently looking at buying a new cab (s). Ive just sold my old ones, and I need something thats going to take no more upgrading! The SVT 810E seems to be where it at! Ive tried one a few times, and boy does it sound massive. I like tight punchy growly bass. I use Precisions and Stingrays. I play in hardcore bands at the moment..until Im too old. Ive got a great Trace Elliot SVT12SMX 400Watt Head. Anyone know of any other good cabs?! Ive tried a fair few. I dont think two 410 Ampegs do it right...and it works out more expensive. Retailers im looking at are GAK, GuitarGuitar, Electro, and a few others like Dolphin Music. Anyone used these places before? Anyway, Ive never had much experience with connections other than the cheap peavey connection I had with my old cabs. Head is max load 4Ohms. It has TWO speaker outlets. One is the standard jack to jack type outlet, and the other is a 3 pin style. Im not sure of the technical names sorry ... Anyway, I want to get the right leads. What connections do I need to cater for with the 810E? Im guessing its the Speakon connection I should use? Do I just need one lead from the Trace to one Speakon input? And can you buy a three pin to SPEAKON lead? Want decent quality. Or do I need two?! Just to sneak this in...best Sansamp? Im probably getting the non prog cos its smaller and more lightweight. Is there any need for 3 channels on the prog version? A few places are selling the standard at £160 which is awesome. Lastly, covers for 810E....where can I get a decent one from in the UK?! A lot to ask I know! Thanks Gareth" The old days when all I wanted was an 8x10!
2. To the OP, both pickups on, Sansamp BDDI as pedal. Play with a pick. Done
3.
How to get a punk sound? First, practise room - got to be cold and damp with hard walls (garage, cellar) Second, drummer - needs to be crap but insaneley loud Third, equipment - got to be borrowed and crackling and sh*tty Fourth, drown a crate of beer or sniff some glue or both or more Fifth, crank up the volume that should do it worked for me i mean come on, is punk the new classical music???
Lol, whilst I agree the stereotype of punk can be seen as bad musicians, check out Matt Freeman from Rancid and Brian from a Wilhelm Scream. The genre has changed a lot.
4. Have you considered a lightweight 2x12? What is your budget? What style are you playing? Ive gigged that same amp with the BF Compact and it wasnt that good a match, but it depends on what you need, volume etc.
5. What a shame. Hope you eventually get your cash for the dodgy bass. I can see that thread now for the GS112. I was tempted to make an offer but I wont be bothering now. Sorry to hear it didnt go well.
6.
As for the Walkabout thing, one of the things that makes the Walkabout what it is is the tube that drives the power stage (in addition to the pre-tubes). It's a fairly unique thing.
Aye, I think the talkbass crowd might be expecting too much out of it. Its probably more voiced towards a market contender against the RH450.
7.
I did however my experience with them in the past hasn't been favourable, plus I don't have the full amount to pay ASAP. Just got off the phone with the ever helpful Darren at The Bass Merchant and I've put my deposit down for : Big Al 4 string White finish Black pickguard Rosewood fretboard Triple singe coil pickups Should arrive in febuary. Can't wait.
Mint setup. Not only is it classy, white w/black and rosewood is rather 'punk' which I always like. Glad you went for the rosewood as well, just because I sit firmly in camp rosewood
8. Any UK prices as yet?
9. If you were closer id be down for a test drive!
10.
Indeed.... he used TC Electronic RH450 bass amp as well as two RS410 cabinets
Bloomin heck....not the choice id expect. If you want the more thumpy vintage meets modern funk tone, this amp has that tone for sure. Personally, the whole super pingy 80s slap tone sounds like nails down a blackboard, so the amp works for me. It definitely works excellently with a Musicman bass.
11. Come to think of it, havent seen you much on here Linus! Hope all is well and you are playing more than I am!
12. If this is basically the Genz version of the MB Walkabout, I can see it selling very well. We shall see. Despite my initial reactions with a Shuttle 9.0, im tempted by one at the moment.
13. If you like very crisp and super pingy top end (Marcus Miller slap tone) the RH450 isnt suitable. Its more lo-mid focussed. There is PLENTY of definition and treble for me.
14. Excellent taste Prime_BASS; White is awesome.
15. Actually, I was wondering where he was! Hope he is well etc
16.
Indeed it was, turns out the drummer is a premature-advertiser!
Thats exactly what happened to me. Idiots. Makes me think practicing at home is actual more fun and less hassle.
17. Withdrawn. Unplanned house move means I really don't have the time for changing or messing about with my amp collection. Thanks!

19. Is it neo? Id like to view it, but Im a little LoWw on tIM.
20.
Well it has happened again, after an extremely bad (on all sides) practice on monday the band have decided it's just not working with me as a bassist. Gutted? Yep! On the plus side, the music wasn't as heavy as I would have liked so this gets me the opportunity to go looking for something 'a bit more my style'. On the down side, they had their own practice space and would have been gigging early next year Oh well, NEXT!!!
Gutted. Welcome to my world (well half getting there, but not satisfied). Just found out my old band are touring four times next year....severely annoyed with myself for trying to move and further my career only to be met with crap landlords, crap bands (although the lads I'm with at the moment are great we just need to get going, the bands before have been crap though!) and a job I dont like.
21. The Markbass is super clean, but very 'warm' due to its design and Class A/B poweramp. This makes it often sound like a 'faster' tube amp but without the actual overdrive tubes make. The Shuttle amps, (the 9.0 is what interests me) are very very clean and quite 'precise' in their sound, and you can have a bit of tube overdrive type tone if you set the input gain up like that. The Shuttle amps dont have that inherent warmth like the MB amps IMO....although the 9.0 is much closer. Thanks chaps! After my news yesterday of having to find a new apartment asap (landlord has sold it) myself and the missus are going to be VERY busy, so im probably just going to keep this instead of messing about and selling. Few more days, then ill withdraw.
