3.
Hi just tried bass at Bassmerchants in colchester Darren has same model in stock and it is evrey bit as good as I expected it to be build quality superb and plays like a dream (at least to me!!) and he wants £1990 for it.
Bargain price!
 4.
If any of you Geordie BC'ers would like to have a blast with my Vintage, just PM me. As I am currently only rehearsing every three weeks so the big feller is champing at the bit to be used!! Tone-wise, it's very like the compact - just bigger and more of it (as some of you will recall from our mini-bash a few weeks ago).
Very kind of you sir! I think if there is a bass bash it would interesting to see the tonal differences between this and my current favourite Aguilar DB212. Bass is still safe as well...
 5.
Sorry to hear about the crappy financial situation I guess you've looked after the bass, now its time for the bass to repay. Regards the bass; I think I better go sleep on it. I have some crazy ideas that would get me in trouble. I'm not sure what impulsive moves I might make if this is still available in the morning... Edit: only live once...PM'd
Go for it. STUNNING colour....but I hope things get sorted for you. What a shame to let it go.
 6.
No Problems, basschat is lucky to have someone like you deciding who is worthy and who is not I am but a humble bass playing western australian reaching out into the unknown to comunicate with other bass players, perhaps to glean a little wisdom that i am lacking
Welcome Howard!
 7. Stingray or Sterling 5. Without a doubt with your love for Rays you will love the modern 5 ers they make. It took me months to choose, and wow did I make the right decision. For £1300-£1400 you can have a very sw***y model, eg HS/HH and upgraded guard.
 8. Nice playing and nice bass!
 9. My absolute limit is 8...and thats being ridiculous I realise! I have 7 (well some on order still) so room for one more Fender
 10.
Just the one for me, although I entertain delusions of getting a 5-stringer. Since us single-owners seem to be in the tiny minority here, can someone explain how they manage with multiple basses? What I mean is, how do you choose which one to use. I imagine that one of them would turn out to be the favourite, so that would be the one to always play. In which case, why keep all the others? I'm not talking about having different 'types' of basses, e.g. different string numbers or maybe an upright, but just the basic 4-stringer. Not having a dig at 'collectors', just curious.
I think its exactly that, a collection. Just like a collector of antique furniture or cars I guess, except basses are nowhere near as expensive as most of the cars people would like to own
 11.
Incidently how does the LM2 sound with TC Cabs?
I think KJung on youtube/talkass has some videos up. The LM3 sound wonderful with the RS210!
 12. Wow, thats a lot of cab problems youve had! Ive been in hardcore punks bands with two guitarists with massive guitar rigs, and found a good 4x10 can be more than loud enough. We often played without the amps being mic'd or DI'd etc. The TC RH450 is VERY good for a more rock n roll sound, as well as being a nice clean amp at the same time. Its almost like a modern version of an Ampeg, with lighter weight and a bucket load of useful features. That 450W is much louder than you'd think. It will bury most of the other micro amps on the market. Honestly, I think if you need that much volume, either they need to turn down, or you need one big beast of a cabinet, and I personally would look at something that can take a thrashing and have no problems, which means, unfortunately, expensive. The Ampeg 810E will do it, but you can get cabinets that are smaller/more high end, but again its expense. There is so much choice, you could be looking for months. Another option is an Orange or Matamp setup. They are perfect for rock. Full tube amps, big heavy cabs, and seem to retain their value better than Ampeg. Another great thing is they are UK made.
 13. Just beware of what condition they might be in. Ive seen some of their RH450 combos with so much damage on them it was crazy! I know that finish can be picky, but its in a shop, so it shouldnt get dragged about much. Hopefully its all fine. A lot of the UK stores have ex-demo TC gear like the Bass Merchant which clearly states ex-demo, but VERY good prices!
 14. Just warm the room up. If you have a cover for it, that will help
 15. Big ROCK sound? There are so many more options you should check out before Ampeg IMO, but thats just me. Ampeg do make great products, and if its the Ampeg tone/style you really want, then go for it. Is weight an issue? Is transport an issue? Do you want a big beast of a cabinet? If so, id suggest you check out: Aguilar DB412, DB810, GS412. Bergantino NV610, 412. Genz Benz Uber 212 + 410. Even though you might think they arent loud enough, check out the TC RS 210s and 212s....the TC RH450 can power 3 of their RS cabinets. IF you want a super powerful 4x10, there are plenty of those about as well! List what requirements you have and the tone you ideally like
 16. If it helps at all, I had to wait 2-3 days for deliveries on my two recent Rays, and they should have been next day. Both times, the couriers involved had problems, like a problem at the depot, and one of them went to another depot before coming to the one near me! Nightmare! But, and the great thing is, they were both FANTASTIC when I did get them. Both were flawless, untouched, and the parcels/packing were also as youd expect...no worrying bumps. This was nearer the summer so I didnt have the weather to worry about, but Im sure the bass is fine. I 100% agree to claim straight away if anything is wrong.
 17. Yep, send it back and demand a full refund. £700 isnt so bad if you can find a nice one
 18.
It is something I might do in the new year... trade/swap the GS for the BD..but I have to say the sounds I can get with my rig is my best ever by a country mile so am in no hurry. In fact, I think I'll probably run both for a while and see which stack wins out.. I think it is just likely to be that little preference. This little thing called gas... recomend the cabs in an instant. If weight wasn't the issue, I would definitely go for a 750 as well...might even do that anyway.. I would like to see an Aguilar DB amp around 500-550watts and 20 or so lbs... I don't think the AG would be better than my beloved SM400 but a DB550... love the thought of that
Sorry for going off topic Molan, but Aggie have announced a Tonehammer 500 Watt micro amp. Very lightweight! Not sure I'd prefer that over the TH pedal, but the quality will be very high. Bump for these great cabs!
 19. Id suggest a claim against the parcel company. Im not sure whether they will say the weather is something you cant complain against, but they should at least give you a discount.
 20. I expected these to be £500 or so....but £849?! Thats quite expensive...and actually I quite like the look of them. Shame...hope it gets sorted.
 21.
Each to his own but putting aside the effected tone, that wasn't a tone that I'd try and recreate BUT I stress 'each to his own'!
Is that great tube breakup that I like...I barely use it but playing Led Zeppelin at home with the Orange gain driven hard is like nothing else. Filthy yet not just 'distortion'.
 22.
I've been doing a little more research and found Matamp's main amp builders have parted company (Dave Green and John Tilley). Would you still buy a Matamp, are they still the quality/tone that they were?
Id say yes and I dont own one. Whatever you get, make sure you can try it out
 23.
This was filmed by my big bro who is matamp crazy, this was when i first got the head. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmjT_pbglZ8
Nice! Doooooooooom!
 24. That bass looks great, but I've never clicked with the G&L like I did instantly with Musicman.
 25.
Very true! We're not hi-jacking the thread, I'm sure honest and open views about the merits of the various drivers and cabs will interest people looking at a thread about the new Aggies.
Agreed!
