  1. I dig him. Check his playing on Theo Katzman’s version of Just The Way You Are.
  2. CMD102p here. Excellent combo. Loud as hell, portable, angles back if needed. I always do that.
  3. I find most commercial modern music insipid and whimsical. Gimme the sixties, seventies and eighties, mostly. My dad hated the stuff I listened to in my teens, which was mostly what we now call rock. I used to play Cream at high volume on my Dansette, drove him mad. Guitar solos! He loved his Glenn Miller and his Slim Whitman and his Karl Denver. But everybody he liked, and that I liked, could really PLAY. So, maybe for me musicianship shows through, and I take comfort in that. (To be clear, I know lots of musicians nowadays can really play. I'm not saying it's only old guys.)
  4. I’ve got TWO now, bwahahaha! Fretted and fretless. See me, I rule, so I do.
  5. Here ya go: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-BBG4AII-Green-Bass-Guitar-Used-1127866/333291484147?hash=item4d99b873f3:g:pGYAAOSwnopdTBy9
  6. There’s one on eBay right now, the greenish blue with photo flame.
  7. I’ve just bought a lovely Yamaha bass from James. I am very chuffed:a great bass at a great price, and James is an absolute pleasure to deal with, plus he is an expert at packing items to military specification. Deal with confidence. Thanks, James ! Stuart
  8. Ew. Consider me grossed out. Skank, I think you’ve been at the poteen.
  9. Al Jarreau, yes!! I drive my wife and daughter bats, replaying Roof Garden and Boogie Down. Dated, yes, but punchy playing, tight arrangements, and wallopingly funky bass parts. Eighties rule ok!
  10. Ah, the Dan. It truly gladdens my heart to hear the love for them on here. They are my biggest musical influence.
  11. Great points above, thanks guys! Very useful. And, yes, I do know what kosher means. Here in UK it’s also a colloquial term meaning “seems to be okay.”
  12. I’m checking the Eurosender site now. Looks kosher.
  13. Thanks for the various responses. I was toying with the idea of asking them to organise their own courier, but I can see some possible pitfalls now. I appreciate the precautions Deedee has taken to ensure correct process. Keep the input coming, folks, much appreciated!
  14. Can anyone advise? I have a classical guitar on eBay right now, and a guy in Germany wants me to send it to him. Does anyone know of a safe reliable courier to Germany? Or is that an oxymoron or something? I have a case for it, and I would box it. (I have had very bad expensive experience of sending an acoustic guitar by DHL.) Any Basschat wisdom gratefully accepted.
  15. Very nice looking bass. I'd have that away if I was looking for a Jazz.
  16. Second hand Ibanez SR500, if you can find one. Frequently to be found on Gumtree. Very ergonomic design, plays great, got the mid control for maximum versatility.
