    Hello and welcome to BC Geoff, As you don't have any bass gear yet, as others have said - take a look at the marketplace on here. BC members are happy to let you try out a bass. So see if there's anything reasonably priced and close to you. You don't have to spend a fortune to get a decent, usable bass. Buying used here on BC is definitely better than buying blind from the likes of eBay. Most of all, try several basses out, and see what factors feel comfortable for you to play. Also, enjoy BC 😀

    For sale (no trades please). Collection from Barry PRICE DROP: NOW £180 Final drop to £170 This Kala Journeyman ubass is strung with metal roundwound strings, rather than the usual rubber strings. (This is how this model is supplied). Which I prefer. In really good condition, as I've hardly used it. It just came along with me to a few gigs, as an unused backup. Really like this bass, but I bought an extra short scale Jabba bass, and I'm not using this Kala at all now. Comes with a case, which isn't a hard case - but more padded / protective than many gigbags. No trades please as I need to thin the collection. I'd prefer collection or a meet-up but if you want, you can arrange a courier.

    Really lovely colour on this bass. That red tort plate is just the perfect colour combo too IMHO. If I needed a reasonably priced 34" scale P bass, I'd be considering this - especially as its pretty lightweight too. Moreover, sorry to hear of your arthritic issues. I'm playing short scales more these days - mainly to ease weight on my left shoulder, plus to head off any potential finger joint problems. So I hope you find a similar solution - so you can keep on playing. GLWYS

    Sorry I missed your 10th anniversary on BC, and by a couple of weeks too.... But I just had to say "hi". My last vehicle was also a Mazda Bongo, which I replaced with a Berlingo - well, actually it's the Peugeot iteration (Partner). So happy 10th anniversary, from someone with a coincidence or two thrown in 😀

    Oh Wow. Since I got my Dano Longhorn earlier this year, I have absolutely loved it. With the f-hole and colour of these, I must say I have been tempted (even though I don't need it, and am trying to thin the collection). If I lived closer to you, I just know I'd be popping in to try it.... and am sure I would succumb to temptation. These new ones look so good. I'm sure this won't be around very long. GLWTS

    Stunning basses these. I had a Roadworn Jazz in sunburst, and I wished it had been Fiesta Red... for some reason! Lol. These basses, look, feel and sound the real deal. GLWTS

    Definitely walk...or even run away. Several things looking decidedly fishy there. As others have said, it looks a lot like an NS, and they sell for much more money than that. If you really want to spend as little as possible on an EUB, you could wait for a used HB or Stagg on here. My first upright was a Stagg, which I bought at the Cambridge Folk Festival. It wasn't great - but there are improvements & upgrades you can make to them (there's a useful website somewhere). Mine didn't put me off playing upright at all - it encouraged me! Plus, when I sold it on, I got what I paid for it. It seems there's always someone out there wanting to dabble with upright.... and for the sort of money you'd expect to pay - I think it's worth it. Even if you decide it's not for you.... you'll pretty much get your money back. Good luck with your search, and hopefully with your new adventure (do it, do it - I've never looked back)

    I now have a decent gigbag I can chuck in with this bass - so you can take it away safely. Also, I may be able to meet up somewhere, to hand over and let you check this lovely bass out before buying. I have a battery powered amp and bass amp headphones, so you can hear it too

    I've not seen one of those before. Nice bass to rescue. The structure of that neck looks lovely. Bet it's stable. Can't go wrong with an old DiMarzio pickup. Happy playing and hope you have some great gigs with it

    The cheapest I've seen these is £151 online - this set is effectively brand new and unused, bar 1 string which was just put onto a bass. Someone must surely need a new or spare set for their NS Design EUB? This is a crazy saving for a new set of strings. They're sat around doing nothing - unless there's another bass I can use them on.... any suggestions anyone?
