I'm really not sure there is 'such a desire' for transparent rigs, if by that you mean it's what most players want. There's certainly people that want that but most amps are coloured, deliberately so, by the manufacturers. Trace, Ashdown, SWR, Ampeg, Orange, GK all have 'their' sound characteristics which they market on and find people who like that sound. The end result is what matters though, and if people are happy with the sound of the combination of amps, cabs, basses, effects and technique then everything's good.

Warning.... Kappalite 3015 NOT designed for Bass!
Musky replied to skidder652003's topic in Amps and Cabs
It might be worth asking the mods to move this to the Amps and Cabs section, as some of the people who actually know about this kind of stuff only seem to check in there. -
then you can just replace the latching switch with a momentary.
Now you've beaten me to it.
Man that's all too much work... Would it be possible to mod some delay pedal, like the Flashback for example, to have a momentary switch instead of latch?
Nope, well not with most pedals anyway. The switch is a bypass, so letting go of the switch bypasses the effect resulting in no trails. It's really not much work at all. Simple A/B box with momentary switch and a two mono jack to single mono jack adaptor is all you need.
Edit: Looks like Musky beat me to basicaly the same post whilst i was typeing slowly.
Yeah, but you said it much better.
Of course, silly me...
An A/B box with a momentary switch and a simple arrangement to recombine the effected and dry signals (after the delay) should do the trick. Are there no loopers that can do this? Might not work too well in practice (depending on exactly what you're playing and any drop outs during switching), but should do the trick. Or am I missing something obvious?
I can certainly imagine it fetching that price. It's a top bit of kit.
Ditto that. They were extremely well made, sound amazing and are no longer available new. That all puts them in demand.

I think the Sue Ryder basses were designed by someone from the Shadows. Edit: Mark Griffiths apparently.

Vintage MIJ (formerly J@pCr@p) Spotting
Musky replied to Bassassin's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
My guess is that it's a Matsumoku made bass. The three piece quarter sawn neck was a characteristic of Mat instruments, and it's very similar to the Aria 1540 which was made by Mat. The thing that's throwing me off is the neckplate - Matsumoku usually put 'Steel Reinforced Neck' or 'Steel Adjustable Neck' on their early 70's basses, though perhaps someone will know if they used Made in Japan stamps at any point? Noelk27 on these boards is well up on old Arias. Realistically though, you'll never know the brand of this bass without the name on the headstock. Many factories produced identical instruments and badged them up with whatever name the importer requested, which means the closest you'll get is an ID on the manufacturer. Fantastic condition bass for it's age though. -
Not sure about this one - any thoughts

I messaged him asking if it was a V4 body. This is what I got back.
I see what you mean, I have just Google searched it and I guess I have been ripped off. The neck is great so I think I will retract the guitar and buy a genuine body.
Auction has now been pulled. -
The new one and take a towel.

Congrats guys. Promise I won't give you a hard time.

Whoa, the last one was maple? The guy must have a mini production line going. Not on at all. -
Think its a vintage v4 body ? Recall the guys userid now - used the same excuse with the last one he sold. "Bought it on eBay, don't know. Just used it for backing tracks"
You started the thread on this last year . Presumably this is the same bass, but he can hardly claim he doesn't know exactly what it is. -
If you've not had any experience using effects a multi fx pedal like the zoom B3 is a good place to start. You get a lot of effects for little outlay.
Yup, A fender Road Worn precision was my go-to bass, with it's 1.75" width, for a few years. Didn't really play anything else in that time, and found the RW very comfortable to play even though, like you, I have short stubby fingers. I had to have the action very low though. Picked up a Japanese Precision a couple of years back with a 1.625" width at nut, and suddenly everything felt faster and easier, and also less of a strain. My road worn, which I think is a fantastic instrument, subsequently (after much consideration) had a visit to my luthier whereby the neck was reprofiled to 1.625" width, and now that feels a joy to play.
That sounds like quite a big job. May I ask how much it cost?

Pulled already!

A thumbs up from me as well. An immaculate pedal, immaculately packaged. Cheers.

Back in the dim and distant past Morley made an Echo Volume pedal, that you could control the number of repeats with the foot pedal. You couldn't simultaneously control the volume though, it was one or the other.

I wonder why there's not much interest in this Roadworn Jazz ?

As mentioned above, these auctions aren't actually 'cancelled' as such but are stopped because the seller claims the item is no longer available (stolen, destroyed by fire or other BS), or in Prime Bass' case sold to the highest bidder. That last one seems to be a particularly pointless way of going about things, as the end result is the same as refusing to sell it at the auction's end. -
Yup. 5 1/2 lbs to be precise. When I play it, I barely notice that it's there.
I'm sure I've got straps that are heavier than that.
-
I'm not going to tell you about my '64 Hofner 500/1 Violin. You'd get jealous. Assuming you believed me.
Go on Jack, don't keep us in suspense. Under 6lbs?

Congratulations, that's a great price.

I always turn off tweeters if at all possible so perhaps this post is of limited use to you, but depending on your set up with the HF the difference might not be huge. Treble is very directional so if the 410 is sat on the floor and not tilted towards your ears the tweeter will be firing at your knees, particularly on smaller stages. Same deal if you wander off to the sides.
