  1. you've even got the correct 'Andy Summers' spec tuners there. Nice
  2. I change only if I break one. Then I change the whole set
  3. Lee Pomeroy also plays with the strings the wrong way up, as does the guitarist in Vanity Fare (Eddie Wheeler IIRC)
  4. and I got married in a replica of the shea stadium suits (but in black, not tan)
  5. I think I've got one somewhere!!
  6. Cheers Pete I'm very right handed too but, for a laugh, it would be interesting. We know all the notes, so we're half way there. I fancy a Harley Benton PB shorty. £75 plus 8 quid delivery, can't really go wrong Then join a covers band that playes beatles songs and a lefty Hofner!!
  7. on my list of things to do actually. I was going to buy a left hand hofner and try it. Would be a very visual thing to switch at a gig
  8. I feel that I should chime in here as a tribute thingy myself. Of course the music has to be good and sound like the band but in the case of the Police, they sounded rockier live than the records and a bit different depending on the era of their live shows. It has been said that I look a bit like Sting, so that does actually add to the show. I've also studied how he moves on stage and was given the greatest compliment by Billy Kulke (Letz Zep) when he said, you've really nailed that Sting thing. We use the correct instruments (replicas) and I always try to wear an appropriate outfit, depending on what bass I'm using. I saw Wrong Jovi and they did the lookalike thing really well, Ritchie was a touch short but musically they were spot on. Horses for courses of course but the punters do like to see a look a like (I think they do)
  9. likey😁
  10. I had a dark metallic blue one, fretless about 1990 Lovely bass but sold to fund something else
  11. Hi guys what's it like? How does it work thanks mart
  12. I haven't no. I had a trade account with rotosound from when I was making valve amps and stocked up on RS66 then. I rarely change my strings now as I only do about 10 gigs a year on bass. I still have 2 or 3 sets in stock, which will last me a good while yet I have a cheap set of Olympia flats to try on a p bass bitsa I'm putting together
  13. I know what you mean but I have to remove the guard because of the tribute band😁
  14. @marleaux62 get that pickguard off!! Here's my Bravewood
  15. this I must try, bit calorific but worth a go
  16. again, this sounds delicious, can you post a recipe please
  17. please........this sounds delicious, have you a recipe I have some pain in my left thumb, lack of grip and it makes thumb on back the neck stuff painful
  18. I take it they cut them down to fit. What tension do you reckon they are. They seem to work really well
  19. No I only really use roto RS66. I like em new and I like em old lol
  20. I am mighty impressed by this JMJ. When I unpacked it I thought 'meh' But when I played it, wow. I can't recommend it highly enough
  21. The flats really work for me atm. I usually have very knackered rounds on these days, looking for a good thumping sound. I'm putting together another P bass, which will have flats. That will be interesting to hear too, as I haven't done flats on a P bass yet
  22. nice, love a bit of shell pink
  23. So back in March I joined an established function/club band as their new singer. Band has been going 30 years, original singer has decided to retire. 60 to 80 songs to learn, weekly rehearsals. Having learned most of it, keyboard player retires. Get my mate in, learn it all again. Last rehearsal last night No guitar player. Someone he works with has tested positive for covid. Self isolation for 10 days, which means he can't do the gig. It's not been easy this one. I have a week to learn the guitar solos. (I already play rhythm guitar on most of it) wish me luck😂
