  1. I've only just spotted the Ginger one
  2. agreed, they were incredible
  3. I do like the 3D bridge. My original black P bass had one but I swapped it out to a BBOT. Then when I bought the '73, I put the 3D on it and have grown to love the profile. I have no idea how it affects the sound because I changed it 30 years ago and back then, I couldn't really tell
  4. that looks fab
  5. yep I hoped she'd look up but she didn't
  6. personally I'd keep the MM and the '73 as the '73 will continue to go up in value. Or just keep them all, if you don't need the money and have the space, keep 'em
  7. just finished putting this together. jazz neck, custom shop 62 pickup. 3D bridge. Flats Haven't plugged it in yet. my first p bass looked like this, includinf the schaller bridge. It's a nice weight, about 4kg I reckon. Northwest body and neck, sourced from here
  8. message sent 😁
  9. Welcome to you from River in Kent. No question is a silly question here (except when someone says 'do I need another bass'...................YES) obvious really
  10. Good luck with the move, going anywhere exotic? Addisham, Aylesham, Wingham perhaps!!😁
  11. can you take the other screws out? Then lift the bridge away over the broken screw. Then clamp the screw and remove it. if it it still unreachable, drilling maybe the answer
  12. I'm going to build 2 in my new music room. I've just moved house and have all my guitars in cases, in wardrobes atm. 😎🤣
  13. https://rexterguitars.co.uk/pages/refinishing just googled this. No idea who they are but it's a start
  14. There's even a gold schaller 3D bridge for sale on here, in other items for sale. £55
  15. this is superb
  16. my wife has the white PB70 US in white and I can vouch for it being a fabulous bass
  17. I'm doing a similar build atm. I've used 2nd hand Northwest Guitar parts body and neck (£200 ). 62 custon shop fender pickup (£70) 2nd hand schaller 3D bridge (£45), Kiogon loom (cant remember), ebay scratchplate (£10) Got my usual luthier putting it together, this is a tribute to my first ever P bass. Approx 1980, black with a maple board. I found a video of my band from 1988, with me playing the black bass. It looked superb and sounded great, so I thought I would recreate it I just to go and collect it, as it's made now
  18. my first bass was a 2 pickup version, which I bought in 1981. It was actually very playable. I learned a lot in the 3 or so years I had it. I even learned how to slap on it. It was new years eve and my older brothers got me drunk on Gin (I was 12/13) and I learned to play My Own Way by Duran Duran.
  19. i went from a pf-500 (which was dead reliable actually. The first one I bought went wrong but its replacement was perfect) I then switched to The Ashdown RM500 EVO II. It's superb, I love it and highly recommend it
  20. welcome Rob. I have a '73 p bass. Owned it for nearly 32 years. Best sounding P bass I've ever had. Ampwise, defintaley look at the Ashdown RM stuff. They do loud combos and heads and lightweight cabs. Not too expensive either, there's a lot of love for the RM stuff onhere
  21. its a really good quality bass, as you would expect from Fender Japan
  22. Unlined for me, looks way cooler because it looks different. A lined fretless looks fretted I have 3 at the moment The natural P-bass is a jap fender that I found for sale in Essex in 2009 for £500. It was mint (it's not now, its done quite a few gigs) The red one is a Bravewood body (alder) cheap EY guitar parts neck. It's awesome Ibanez MC940. Lovely it is. mwah to die for
  23. many many times when I drop D my bass, I forget to tune it back up and end up bluffing my way to the end (it's not difficult to play 2 frets higher but the muscle memory doesn't like it)
  24. I'm in a function band that played at a wedding reception. Did the first dance, families didn't get along Complete riot. They all started fighting, Police came, people arrested. Band didnt even finish the first dance but the barman had the money and they still got paid
  25. looks like we've all had some great experiences. I have 2 of note. Back in '95, I was due to play at my mates wedding, with my (very popular) rock band. He was a biker and the gig was in a biker pub. However, I was at the wedding breakfast and got absolutely plastered. Proper out of it. We ended up in another having some dinner (before the evening gig), I was asleep in the pub whilst they ate. They carried me to the car, drove me to the gig. Then I literally woke up, 'let do this' I said. And did. I have no idea how I got through it but it was ok The other time We had a recovering alcoholic on the drums. Lovely guy and a superb drummer. Turned up to the gig, set up, all good first song, Walk this way, Aerosmith. Drummer drops a stick, stops. Starts up again, and drops the stick again. 'I can't play he said' What to do? Singer says, I can play drums a bit, as can I ( a bit). The drummer is plastered We take 5 minutes to try and assess what to do. Barmen comes over, I play keyboards but can drum a bit too. Bugger me, he wasn't brilliant but he held it together really well. Punters didn't even notice
