  1. thanks everyone, perhaps that's why they've never worked for me. I had too much relief. I shall embrace the clank
  2. I've read that some people set their Rik basses up with no relief in the neck My HW has little relief and rattles a bit. Is this part of the clank that we all desire It plays really nice but if I dig in, (and I do, especially playing Jam songs) it gets a bit messy The bass is literally brand new ( I only ordered it 4 weeks ago) and will probably settle a bit, I have no prblem adjusting truss rods etc your thoughts please
  3. if people ask me, 'can I have a go' and I tell them 'no' and they get funny, I tell them, 'it's like me asking to have a go on your girlfriend/wife/boyfrien/husband/partner' they usually get the message
  4. I remember selling basses like this in 1990/91 Always prefered them to the soundgear things there were some lairy colours too
  5. if that was the reason (a very understandable one) why did they just not give it their answer was evasive
  6. yes I've got to go back and listen to Blue murder too. Sykes was one of my guitar heroes
  7. Just having a listen to some stuff by The Firm Great bass work from TF. I've never really listened to him before Any fans here?
  8. when I saw him at the bass show, someone asked him about flats. He scoffed at the idea so it'll be rounds on his bass
  9. we support each other. We are a team I'm lucky in that my wife adores me and also is a musician she has 3 pianos, two acoustic guitars, 2 Ibanez 6 stringers, 2 P basses, a bass collection thing me I have about 30 assorted guitars and we have rooms to put them all in I fancied a Rik recently, for the Jam tribute, she said get it, so I did we don't hide anything from each other, as we've discovered again recently Life is short (Bro-in law RIP 56 years old and dog walking friend, 63 just the other week) Be kind to each other
  10. this is a particularly nice example
  11. is that an HW or real one? They look good in this colour
  12. indeed, well spotted
  13. agreed. most of their stuff was recorded using a p bass. I have lots of them but this is the look lol
  14. It's happened again Another tribute band has been joined and it needs one of these They're called Total Jam and I've played with them in the past, they're the Andy and Stewart in my Police tribute
  15. yep so did mine. It was always fine and I didn't notice it, but since I had covid, it's definately worse
  16. Who is suffering with this dreadful thing Mine seems to be the worst it's ever been and I'm worried about gigging with IEMs. I make sure that they're not loud but I fear it's still getting worse. It's affecting my hearing too
  17. active mate bass boost and cut treble boost and cut pan pot volume
  18. I've always gigged them all, even my '59 Les Paul jr got a good thrashing in the pub But I'm playing cheaper instruments these days, my two Warwick Adam Clayton basses were 2nd hand and not that expensive I have a 4003 made by HW incoming and can't wait to try it in the Jam tribute but it was cheaper than any 2nd hand Rick I could find
  19. it is still almost immaculate. A bit of a case queen these days. I think we did the deal just before/during lockdown 1
  20. and I have one of your old ones Utterly superb bass and mine's very light too This blue one is a bargain
