  1. would look cool though lol
  2. I am actually going down this route with Phil Starr it was just an idea, but if the cab really is 30Kg then it's still a bit heavy
  3. I agree it does look great I am thinking if it is 27Kg, I have a couple of eminence neos that would probably save 6Kg in total, bringing it to 21 ish Kg that might work
  4. I've read a review of the cab and it says it isn't as heavy as Ampeg quote. The review says it weighs 60.8 pounds 27.6Kg Ampeg say 66 pounds 30Kg Can anyone confirm this please?
  5. yep horrible isn't it. I have a plan though
  6. I've been focussed on lightweight for so long that I never really looked and as I carry PA most of my gigs I didn't need anymore weight But I have a couple of gigs where I don't carry PA so am happy to lug this
  7. absolutely blown away I'll spend more time with it this week. Plug the other cab in and see how do As you say it feels different, it's more dynamic and organic gigs coming up will need Mustang with flats (blues/rock gig) New wave/ ska / mod dep (4003 with rounds) P bass with flats Police gig 50s style P bass with rounds I know its going to smash the new wave gig with the 4003
  8. This arrived this week at PS towers Ampeg V4B. It is simply incredible 100 watts. Simple to set up Absolute ampeg delight. I just didn't know this model existed or I would bought one ages ago It looks cool and isn't remotely back breaking at 18kg Gets its first Policed gig next week Then a blues/rock gig Then a ska/new wave gig
  9. wowser wowser wowser words fail me on just how good it sounds bass flat mid about 10 o clock treble flat ultra bass in ultra hi in mid swith in the middle gain just on the edge with a mark bass club 1x15 cab with my 4003 it's amazing I didn't even spend that long on it and found the sound I have a couple of interesting gigs coming up in August so it'll get a proper work out truly fat
  10. Im waiting for @walshy to have a look at his, the super dude that he is
  11. I'm still thinking to stick with the ampeg sound. All the people that have the rig love it. So there must be something in their cab design that gives the classic sound I've tried the V4B thru a small Mark bass 1x15 and that ampeg sound and grind is there in spades so if their cab enhances the amp, so be it I think
  12. Ill try a squirt of deoxit as suggested
  13. Yes I'll try that. I have a can in the music room
  14. Not clear enough picture to tell
  15. Yep agreed I just tried it thru my mark bass cl115 Sounds epic with my HW4003
  16. I haven't got the ampeg cab, only the V4B I have other cabs to use but I have these neos that I'd like to use
  17. L serial is correct for 1964 veneer board also correct
  18. it depends how tall it is I suppose
  19. I never realised how complicated cab design could be I'm trying to save a bit of weight over the Ampeg SVT212 which is 30Kg and as stated in my original message, I have a couple of Eminence neos I'd like to find a home for
  20. bloody switch! I have to press it in and out a few times otherwise it sort of cuts out/crackles Great amp though
  21. I love the last bit The rage is quite a joy to behold!! brilliant My Andy Summers tele has a Jap fender body and a WD neck with a Fender logo
  22. a Tele for all things there
  23. 600 quid. You get a discount on the tools too My luthier that I've always used has retired now, although he still does a few jobs for his mates (I have a neck reset that needs doing on my hofner) I have decided it can't be that hard I understand how to level frets and know that they have to be crowned after levelling. May as well learn to remove frets, plane the board and fit new ones etc you can buy tools that show you when the neck is dead straight, so you can start levelling etc Crimson guitars down Dorset way
  24. I have done this too 2 x ebay necks and one from Aliexpress of the two I've fitted both nuts were cut well and they set up really well I'm going on a Crimson guitars course, to learn how to refret/ level and set up etc and will take them along to level the frets (but I don't think they need it, they play great) I've got some unknown bodies from an auction and used one. Turned out ok Bought Northwest guitars own brand tuners and bridge and a tonerider pickup, it gets gigged in the U2 tribute I'm in
  25. I hope so. I've played thru a couple of full fat SVTs and loved them. I'll try and get plugged in later today and give it a whirl Any settings to start with?
