  1. I think it embodies the spirit of the beatles really nicely. It certainly wouldn't have been released as a single but a good album track. Technology.
  2. Perhaps a wrap might do it(no idea if it can, I have seen wrapped guitars though)

  4. I got my first P bass in about 1988. Swapped a lovely Manson 335 type guitar for it. It was black and maple, late70s pssobly early 80s (the later, slightly smaller TV logo) It just had that sound. I also dabbled with other basses at the time. I was gigging 4 somtimes 5 times a week, all over Kent and East Sussex. A Hamer Scarab came and went, JayDee Mark King. A couple of other P basses came, a 1962, an american re=issue 62, a 70s, immaculate white one that had lived in a loft. The paint was all cracked and crazed but clean as a whistle. Then in 1991, I bought my '73. Still got it, along with 2 awesome bitsa P basses. Fretless maple, Fender ''62 reisuue pickup and fretted maple, custom shop '62 pickup with flats. This black one is particularly amazing sounding thing. I'm on JMJ Mustang now, easier on my aching body but when I need a P..............
  5. contact tonerider, I hear they have very good customer service
  6. yep a shame for sure. Played there a couple of times with The Policed
  7. I recentley depped fpr @spongebob whilst he was recovering from a detached retina. I did about 2 months and 15-16 gigs. I hadn't played bass for nearly a year and it did get the juices flowing again. I am depping for him again, tomorrow and looking forward to it. Give it time Andy, it may come back to you. The break is nice. I didn't touch anything during lock down for over 3 months and really enjoyed the break
  8. steer clear of the Vintage Jerry Donahue JD58 then. I love mine but it does have a chunky neck. Great range of tones from the 5 way switch though
  9. I used one for ages, hundreds of gigs with it. A great workhorse
  10. ive only really seen/played with dots on the fret line until I bought a neck from EY guitar parts. fretless maple board. I got my local luthier to put new dots on it, in the right place
  11. agreed. I tried to sell on there and an expert told me I'd never get that much money. I did!!!
  12. mostly rotos swing bass did elites when they were the thing I had a trade account with Warwick 18 years ago and used their Framus branded strings. Very cheap and very good. Also had an account with rotosound and used swing bass and their guitar strings. Very good guitar strngs actually Now as a JHS endorsee, I use Dean Markely guitar strings on my 6 strings but Fender flats on my basses I've also used, Dean Markely Blue steels, they were great Optima Gold strings, awfully expensive and rubbish really, didn't last vey long despite the hype Rotosound Spacers for a while, they looked good, felt weird but seemed ok
  13. graham in Whitstable is very good. He will get back to you
  14. agreed mate. I love the small and light gear. My mrs is made up with it though
  15. great service from Ashdown and Status.
  16. I'll be honest, I dont think it's that heavy. Sure it's not class D weight but it's certainly manageble
  17. Picked this up today. Ebay 125 quid and local collection Flight cased its whole life This is the 3rd one of these I've had. This is for when my wife decides to start gigging again. She doesn't really like my Ashdown RM500. She has done hundreds of gigs with one of these and knows how to get a good sound from it
  18. yes the nut width is quite wide. Neck size doesn't really bother me unless it's too narrow or too shallow (or both) I have quite big hands I think
  19. They are a very good, versatile instrument. I don't try to get the BM tone, it's just a great sounding instrument. Plenty of interest free deals about too (well Andertons usually)
  20. Here's my new Brian May RS It's neon pink. Purely for my 80s duo and band. It's a great guitar (my third Brian May guitar)
  21. yep, my wife. Not in a band with her for a few years now, but we do talk a lot about music
  22. thanks mate, I have four different Vintage guitars and they are all really good, I just don't use the SG at all and someone else should
  23. I'll be honest, I don't really like it. I'm not a Kiss fan but I certainly respect them and their catalogue I'll be passing on that bass.
  24. I had all my diaries from when I started gigging. All the venues, how much we got paid etc. 1986 to 2000. They got lost in a house move which turned into a divorce. We still got on but it was a long time before I discovered they had gone to her and in the end I didn't aske her for them. I still have everything from 2000 onwards though
