  1. used to wear contacts for gigging all the time. I sweat a lot and it gets in my eyes, so by the end of the gig I was ready to take them out. I used to carry my lens case and pop them in the fluid and clean them when I got home, then I went to disposables and used to take them out at the end of the gig and chuck em away. Just over 20 years ago I had lasik surgery and didn't need anything at all. Wonderful it was. Now I need reading glasses but that's no biggy either
  2. yes plenty of times, I was being sarcastic really. It's very rare that I like the support band. Some of the best gigs I've been too are the ones without support. Main act on about 7.30 and on my way home before 10.00
  3. Last night at the Cambridge Corn Exchange a band called Barbara supporting I hate support bands, I'm not there to see them BUT THEY WERE SUPERB Fantastic song writing, I loved every song, I wished they could have played for longer. Look out for them https://www.facebook.com/barbaratheband
  4. nice boots, where did you get them
  5. Got our debut gig with The Americana Revue https://www.americanarevue.com/ coming up in 2 weeks, so I went shopping with my wife for some new clobber. The gig is completely sold out, which we are very proud of. Anyway, here's the gear Anyone else buy gear exclusively to wear at gigs
  6. more than happy with my rig Ashdown RM500 EVO2 into either a Mark Bass club 15 or Ashdown RM410 cab. Usually the club 15 though Basses mainly used are a JMJ with flats and a bitsa P bass with flats, although my old 73 is still wearing rounds
  7. even if its a small hole, my original Sting bass had a hole, I just put the finger rest over it. it's no biggy either way arrives next week, first Policed gig is Dec 2nd
  8. I've just seen a video of one being taken apart and there's no routing under the pickguard. This pleases me as I need to have the PG removed to keep with the Sting vibe hundred quid, it's mad
  9. hi folks what's it like under the pickguard please. Also is the sunburst a 50s sunburst or does it have red in it, like a 60s Fancy one for my Police tribute which is re-starting in December As you can see nothing under the pick guard Great neck too. Nice n chunky Flats on order
  10. I use this Lekato 5.8 thing for my duo gigs. I stand right next to the receiver and it has been excellent so far. I use it because it gets rid of one more cable. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07TWQL2JS?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
  11. I think it embodies the spirit of the beatles really nicely. It certainly wouldn't have been released as a single but a good album track. Technology.
  12. Perhaps a wrap might do it(no idea if it can, I have seen wrapped guitars though)

  14. I got my first P bass in about 1988. Swapped a lovely Manson 335 type guitar for it. It was black and maple, late70s pssobly early 80s (the later, slightly smaller TV logo) It just had that sound. I also dabbled with other basses at the time. I was gigging 4 somtimes 5 times a week, all over Kent and East Sussex. A Hamer Scarab came and went, JayDee Mark King. A couple of other P basses came, a 1962, an american re=issue 62, a 70s, immaculate white one that had lived in a loft. The paint was all cracked and crazed but clean as a whistle. Then in 1991, I bought my '73. Still got it, along with 2 awesome bitsa P basses. Fretless maple, Fender ''62 reisuue pickup and fretted maple, custom shop '62 pickup with flats. This black one is particularly amazing sounding thing. I'm on JMJ Mustang now, easier on my aching body but when I need a P..............
  15. contact tonerider, I hear they have very good customer service
  16. yep a shame for sure. Played there a couple of times with The Policed
  17. I recentley depped fpr @spongebob whilst he was recovering from a detached retina. I did about 2 months and 15-16 gigs. I hadn't played bass for nearly a year and it did get the juices flowing again. I am depping for him again, tomorrow and looking forward to it. Give it time Andy, it may come back to you. The break is nice. I didn't touch anything during lock down for over 3 months and really enjoyed the break
  18. steer clear of the Vintage Jerry Donahue JD58 then. I love mine but it does have a chunky neck. Great range of tones from the 5 way switch though
  19. I used one for ages, hundreds of gigs with it. A great workhorse
  20. ive only really seen/played with dots on the fret line until I bought a neck from EY guitar parts. fretless maple board. I got my local luthier to put new dots on it, in the right place
  21. agreed. I tried to sell on there and an expert told me I'd never get that much money. I did!!!
