Adam Clayton is on tonight's Gardeners world on BBC 2
police squad replied to jazzyvee's topic in General Discussion
I've just watched it wow, what a garden and what a story -
I have an HT1R guitar amp it's very good The guitarist in the U2 trib I'm in, has two St. James 50 heads, into two 2x12 cabs with neo speakers an amazing rig that weighs nothing I may, at some point, try some Blackstar bass gear but I have been extremely happy with my Ashdown RM500

I've just got home from my first U2 Tribe gig It was at The Horn in St Albans What a lovely venue, superb sound man. Had a nice IEM mix too The crowd was amazing, singing along from the start. Our singer knows how to work the audience I was nervous as it was my first gig with them, we've not managed a rehearsal either. I did really well, yes some mistakes, lost my way occasionally but sterling work from The Edge got me back to where I needed to be but mainly I nailed most of it Looking forward to the next one in Derby

In my quest for basses Neck from ebay 70 quid, its actually very pretty wood and has set up well Was trying to get the colour metal flake gold but has come out way too dark. The metal flake is nice but I was told to use a black base coat Hopeless So first gig tomorrow The anoraks should spot p bass with a jazz neck -

I've just notice this is/was 3 tone burst. Does that make it a 70s bass, I cant see a logo on the headstock -

what if it's a commision sale Steve. When I worked in a shop (35 years ago) VAT was payable on the comission fee and not the amount given to the seller Our commision fee was 20% BTW it's nice to see when someone knows what they're talking about are you still in the job? -
I'd stick some 3 in 1 on it to start with, it shouldn't do any harm

What really impacts on your bass tone?

I watched the vid and it didn't tell me anything I didn't know I really enjoyed it though, one or two superb insights -

Looks ok to me I've recently bought two more jazz necks. One from ebay, which looks amazing. Plenty of birdseye figuring etc and the other from Aliexpress. Looks good but not as pretty These are going to be used on my Adam Clayton replicas in gold and purple. atm I have no idea how good they are, they feel nice but I'm soon to be spraying a headstock in gold then attaching it to the body, to see how it all lines up, before I spray the body Also booked on a course to learn how to refret, fret level etc at Crimson guitars, which I'm really looking forward to

Are Trios the Way to go for Pub Gigs
police squad replied to Chienmortbb's topic in General Discussion
Trio works great if you have two singers, singing harmonies a lot I sometimes play the odd pub gig with my Policed band but playing general covers. We both sing and it sounds great, especially the Beatles stuff Locally there is more solos and duos, I think because of price. A lot of musos packed it in during covid here too -
i shall look into these, many thanks so far
-
Basschat massive I'm going to need a few cheat sheets for my newest gig, just to prompt me a few things like, Set List which bass to use (different tunings) and a few notes, how many bars the intro is, etc I use Stage trax for my duo but not sure what else to use I have an irig blueboard to turn pages your thoughts please
-
yep that's a corker
-
I sort of got it Like you, I've played rock music my whole life. It's what my friends expect of me but their faces when I tell them what I sing / play now are priceless. Growing up my older brother was in a (then) quite well known Italian rock band. Supported Iron Maiden, Ian Gillan, on Italian TV shows etc I loved Iron Maiden, Saxon, Motorhead etc but never told anybody how much I loved Wham! Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet

good luck to 'em all Saw Sabbath at Reading in 1983. Gillan on vocals and Bev Bevan on the drums I hope it's a great gig but I won't be there, it's too far and I don't do big gigs anymore

Phil, when they did the impressions, did you have to bite on something Do you sing live when using them? I ask this because an audioligist I spoke with said singers don't need to bite when doing the mould, but other people have said otherwise cheers
