ah ok, I have seen contoured Mustangs and didn't know that was a 70s thing. I'm quite liking the look and what I've heard of the JMJ. It could be a possibility

I'm 5ft 11. My hofner violin bass looks fine. maybe a short scale P bass? One of the problem I have is shoulder pain. Just standing with my bass and playing it, open's both my shoulders and gives me pain. I've really noticed it since lockdown1, when I stopped playing at all, for 3 months

why did you sell it?

mine was late 70s and black, r/w board. I would like another like that, if I could find one for reasonable money

yeah agreed, I woudn't buy an old guitar blind. I did do a blind trade on here last march, my XL-2 for a 1980 P Bass special but that turned great. I like the idea of an older one because they were contoured. I used to have a Musicmaster bass when I was about 16 and I remember it being quite good. I played another musicmaster a couple of years ago and it was very good. Great neck

I'm really interested. Are they much better than the modern ones, in the way that old Fenders can be. My mrs had a made/crafted in Japan one. She used it on one gig and didn't like it, so sold it. I never got to try it live but I thought it sounded great on the gig. Your thoughts BC collective

crikey, Hope n Glory, originals, rock won the battle of the bands at the Southern Belle about 1989/90 Then a band called Scandal, classic rock and a bit of glam. Lasted till late 96. Played the Woodlands Tavern quite a lot After the Woodlands closed I didn't venture up there much more

Gillingham, Southern Belle and Woodlands tavern. Played these places a lot, always good gigs? I cant say I remember your band but we probably crossed paths at some point

I had a silverburst one. Stuck some picato flats on it. Thumpety thump it went. enjoyed it for a while then went back to my P basses

The vintage guitars and basses have been very good. I bought a bass, for my brother, some 14 years ago. I was gobsmacked at how good it was. Then I bought a 6 string 'Geoff Whitehorn' signature guitar. Again a mighty fine instrument for not a lot of money. I now also have a 335 a-like and an SG a-like with virbola trem. I was gigging these guitars in a Paul Weller and a Stereophonics tribute before lockdown, they are totally stock and sound really good. If they would make a Sting like P bass (reliced of course) I would definately buy one for my Police tribute

Heavy Aria SB-R150 Bought from Peter Cook himself in Hanwell Voc white shadow This was black with red binding and fretless. Tremendous bass Aria XRB Another great bass Fender P black/maple My first P bass. Swapped a Manson 335 for it. Light for a late 70s bass. Found a video of a gig from 1988 with this bass. Guild B301 As somebody else put, Meh!! Hamer Scrarab Looked great, played great just didn't get a great sound Hohner B2A Again, Meh! Fender P bass white Awesome. Late 70s, found in a loft. Finish was cracked and crazed. Swapped it for the Hamer Scarab JD Mark King Amazing quality. Couldn't get a decent sound from it at all Wasburn B2V Can't remember what this was like Fender P 62 USA Another cracker. Sold it to go on Holiday to Zimbabwe. Had an abelone tiger inlay. Refinished it to candy apple blue and put seymour 1/4 pounders in it Crocket 5 string Hand made by Andy Crockett. Warwick streamer shape, mad quilted top, fretless 5 string Fender Jap P bass E series. swapped it for a video recorder in 1990 Status 4000 Awesome. I also have a video of this being gigged. sounded and played great Squier 62 Jazz bass Sunburst. No idea if it was good. Didnt like sunburst so sold it Blue rick 4001 Paid nothing for this. about 200 quid. Sold to the Swinging Blue Jeans in 1990 Fireglow Rick 4003 Looked great if Fireglow. Got bored and moved it on J&D bros 5 string Actually a very good bass, sold it to my future wife before we got together Musicman Sub great basses. Gibson EB-0 Awful sounding POS. Looked great though, no idea of age Squier (sting) Jazz A samick or vesta factory one. Stripped to look like Stings. Sounds like a P bass P Bass Lyte weighs nothing, 30 years old in CAR Ibanez MC940 Fretless, again because of the Tribute Bravewood Sting A replica of Sting's 57 Red Sting bass A red, maple boarded fretless, again Police related. Great sounding alder body Rockinbetter RG4003 Genuine higain pickups on this. Bought for the Jam tribute

RM500 EVOII here. Had it 2 years. Moved over from an ampeg PF-500 which I loved. i wanted to join the Ashdown family because I think their ethos is excellent. I simply love it and it weighs 2.5Kg and it is certainly more than loud enough, I should really get some matching cabs but with no gigs, there's just no point
