  1. nice, love a bit of shell pink
  2. So back in March I joined an established function/club band as their new singer. Band has been going 30 years, original singer has decided to retire. 60 to 80 songs to learn, weekly rehearsals. Having learned most of it, keyboard player retires. Get my mate in, learn it all again. Last rehearsal last night No guitar player. Someone he works with has tested positive for covid. Self isolation for 10 days, which means he can't do the gig. It's not been easy this one. I have a week to learn the guitar solos. (I already play rhythm guitar on most of it) wish me luck😂
  3. I'll be using the JMJ going forward. Sound wise, yes very similar, as someone else has said, the shorter string length makes it a bit more fundamental. Less harmonic overtones. I likey a lot
  4. Slow burn, nice who was your old singer? I'm wondering if we might know each other, (although I've not played in Faversham for some quite considerable time)
  5. Well done JHS. They are a great company to deal with. Their current MD used to be a sales rep for them back in the late 80s early 90s.
  6. Shame, I'm in Deal but too busy to do anything else at the moment. Do you have a name, so when you finally get a singer, I'll come and check you out. I like a bit of well played classic rock. good luck
  7. Seventh Son was my cutoff too. Not for any reason but my musical tastes took me all over the show. I bought Brave New World when it was released, listened to it a couple of times but wasn't really interested any more. I did go to the Brixton Academy to see them, about 20 years ago, they were really good, great energy
  8. When I was a kid, my second bass guitar was a Musicmaster. My first Fender. Sold it after 6 months and moved onto a Manson Explorer bass. I always wanted my Musicmaster back and that was nearly 40 years ago. The JMJ is black, as was my Musicmaster. Sort of replaced.
  9. does the vintera have the chunky neck of the JMJ I have a JMJ, it's fabulous
  10. That's the first time I've ever listened to Jaco play. What struck me was the drumming. Such swing. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will go and check out more of Jaco's playing
  11. it's worth emailing JHS with your string problem. They are pretty helpful actually. I had a guitar that needed a re-wire and they sorted it out, quickly and easily
  12. Indeed, push on Steve and welcome
  13. I might make a short video of it compared to my 73. I've done this before with something else comparing it to my 73. watch this space lol
  14. When Bruce first joined they flew to Italy to do some gigs. My brother was in a band in Rome at the time called The Raff. He met Maiden at the airport and asked if they could support them, Sure they said and they opened for them in Padova and Milan. The B-side to The Number of the Beast was a Live version of Remember Tomorrow recorded at the those gigs IIRC I became quite a maiden fan at this point
  15. yep me too, about 1988/89. Played to a few mates who travelled up to see us. Had a right laugh
  16. I just dont seem to get the time, I just noodle on it when I get a spare 5 minutes I might just go home early today and try it against my old 73 P bass
  17. I've still not plugged it in yet, but I've put the black pick guard on it. Looks fab The neck, though, WOW it's just so playable
  18. I have 3 Vintage 6 string guitars. They are all extremely good. I will eventually pick up a P bass copy, should one appear locally
  19. where I work, we have used DPD for a number of years. I don't think we've ever had a lost parcel with them.I have also shipped guitars and amps all over europe with no problem, using DPD. But since Brexit, we only use DHL, who are pretty rubbish to be honest and I won't be shipping any personal stuff now Still use DPD for uk shipping though and they are ok for that
  20. I still have mine, bought new 9 years ago. Went wrong and was replaced and has been fine ever since. I love the sound but have since moved to Ashdown as I wanted to support a British company But I still have the Ampeg in my practice room. It has done a lot of gigs under my ownership
  21. yep I still have my PF500. A great amp but I've switched to Ashdown now. RM500 evo II. I keep the Ampeg as a spare
  22. I'll see what the one I've already bought is like, if it's no good I'll send it back
  23. Recently bought a custom shop '62 pickup from Paul, I think he'd put it in the post before I'd even paid for it buy and sell with confidence Thanks mate
