Beatles First US Gig at Washington Coliseum
Stu-khag replied to EssentialTension's topic in General Discussion
Loving the minimal set up. And not a monitor in sight! I am in awe of how well they gel. They epitomise the importance of gig fitness! -
Great service from Mark. Buy from him with confidence as I certainly would again!

tis really sad. totally underrated bassist. Absolutely love his playing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAhyAh7IzIs Acrimony! described as the pioneers of uk stoner metal. Gotta put in a bit of taint as well. Saw them play loads with clutch back in the day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNCoMeei28k&feature=fvwrel

Music as a force for social and political change.....
Stu-khag replied to Bilbo's topic in General Discussion
this thread just reminded me of this song, described as the first great mainstream protest song in years by the old guardian paper. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8GvLKTsTuI&feature=branded http://www.guardian....an-b-ill-manors -
a colleague of mine has a gibson les paul axcess model. reduced heel, belly contour and its lighter. His one is a non floyd rose model (why it has a floyd rose I don't know and its the only model I can find a link to online) and i got the impression he didnt pay mega bucks for it. Its the first les paul I've played that I've ever felt comfortable with EDIT oops didnt read the post clearly linking to the axcess. doh!

I bought it around '99 and it felt it around 10 years old so yes!
-
absolutely gorgeous! Can I ask where you got the neck from? I'd suggest posting this over at http://www.offsetguitars.com Muchos love for beauties like this!

I used to have an epi explorer with gibson and epi logo on it similar to this. http://www.promenademusic.co.uk/epiphone-by-gibson-strat nasty piece of wood and probably only managed to get rid of it due to it saying gibson on the headstock

what bass player is is inspiring you right now?
Stu-khag replied to fiatcoupe432's topic in General Discussion
Ashley Hutchings on Liege and Leaf by fairport convention is inspiring me at the moment. The drumming is pretty amazing as well. I wish I could find a band to lock in with like that! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1it7BP5PckI rediscovering Dead Meadow as well and wanting to play some filthy and grooving bass like that as well! some new jap fenders- bass VI, hollow jazz and mustang
Stu-khag replied to Stu-khag's topic in Bass Guitars
I've started saving for the VI as of today. fingers crossed it'll be sensibly priced (compared to the old jap reissues that seem to be going for crazy money!) -
anyone seen these? apologies but cant see a link on here to them. saw them a few weeks ago on offset forum, I've been waiting for the day they reissue the jap bass VI's! http://fenderjapan.co.jp/blog/?p=749
Would love to see it, but it's only being shown in the south east region. Living in Hertfordshire, I don't think I can get it, so does anyone know how I can pick it up. I have Virgin Media TV, and obviously Freeview.
it'll be on Iplayer.
Tim Buckley & Jeff Buckley... Bearing in mind that (by all accounts) Tim had no part in his son's upbringing - maybe a good example of inherited talent?
I'm pretty sure I read his mam was classically trained and immersed him in music

Is that both instruments since September? I'm currently working with a lot of classically trained kids at the mo who are all ultra talented and a lot of them play other instruments to really high standards. Surprising how many have had no training on that instrument whatsoever and have just kind of transferred their skills.A lot of them have very musical parents also and being in that kind of environment must do wonders for their creativity. But then a lot of them have parents who admit they have no musical background either.

Stu-khag replied to Bo0tsy's topic in General Discussion
spiritualized live at royal albert hall. Absolutely love the dynamics and sounds. Always restores my creative mojo during dark days and the bass playing is solid with some great groove -

To refret my '63 Precision - good/bad idea?
Stu-khag replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
I'd like to think I'd refret if I was in your situation but I was thinking, if you were to take into account how much money the neck could be devalued by and the cost of a refret, could you get a nice substitute neck? But then again you'll have a vintage neck hanging around collecting dust with no use to anyone apart from it being sold and then it'll just be another old bitsa bass. just thinking about it gives me a headache! Good luck with whatever you do!
