1. seems like a really good price. over a grand new I think. I've been borrowing one from a mate for the last year for practices in sound rehearsal room. It's heavy compared to the class d type heads around but not too bad taking up and down stairs with handle if you havent any injuries. I like the control panel dimming option for gigs. GLWTS
2. totally agree and I also think its a bit weird that fender now have a chinese range. It should be a squier as well! But my epiphone sg has a big truss rod cover saying gibson on it and I also owned an 80s epi explorer that had both an epiphone and gibson logo. I'd never say to someone its gibson but made by epiphone.
3. I've had an absolute tonne of emails from his record company in the past few weeks. They are putting in the hours in the promo dept. I'll be honest, I saw his name and thought nope, I'm not having any of that. (in a noel gallagher voice). Should give him a chance really!
4. I saw him live about 6 years ago at camp bestival . He had his son and daughter with him in the band. From what I could work it out, he wouldnt wear any in ear monitoring and had the monitors full blast causing all kinds of feedback issues. other than that, he played a solid show with some hired players who had never played with him before. We all enjoyed anyway. I heard the festival organiser mention he still gets paid in cash in hand as well!

Gibson ES175.

Didn't the new gibsons go up loads retail wise a few years back hence the generous second hand values? A brand new epi version of the 175 is going for around £700 new, saw a s/h one for sale around the £400 mark yesterday. There cant be masses of them around the uk either - by there being less of them does that increase their value or decrease due to being less desired? I dunno! I'd have a look at the ebay sold prices to make a judgement.
6. I've not heard of this album before. I'm guessing you've seen it's streaming here? http://es.musicplayon.com/Clutch-The-Mob-Goes-Wild-Live-At-The-Corner-Hotel-Album-Music-Video-777957.html?mobile=N Clutch are doing a uk tour in December and playing Cardiff again. Cant wait!
7. I've got a British sea power Kendall mint cake bar. I won an absolute bundle of merch when radio 1 still did comps. I've got an oasis tracksuit in man city colours. Must get round to selling it at some point.
8. Never heard of him but I share the same surname! Will be checking it out later
9. One of those bands I always liked whenever they were on the radio a few years back. I saw the album sound dust in this beautiful pink book type case so bought it. Alas still the only album of theirs I own
10. I hate listening to reggae . A couple of times I've had to play Bob Marley stuff and it's been so much fun. I guess it's the locking in with the drummer
11. I remember the name of your band quite vividly. Trying to think If I own any singles or saw you in Cardiff?
12. My old band was offered something like 10 grand about 12 years ago for a song of ours to be used in some Eastern European mobile phone ads. I said no as it was selling out- very much influenced by bill hicks. things are a bit different now- as long as company is something I don't agree with then I'd sell all my songs. And we could have had a chance playing gigs out there! The super furry animals turned down a 6 figure sum from Coca Cola for hello sunshine. Instead they went to Columbia and campaigned for Coca Cola workers rights.
13.
Appalled that my license fee was used up by Rhod and some mate driving around in a number of Splitter Vans when they could have fitted into a Fiesta and avoided seemingly crashing into a number of obstacles. Did the voiceover in the Eddie Stobart programmes drive to the Depots in a 40 ton artic?
Excellent budgeting tv wise I thought. Usually you have to pay taxi and train costs for presenters or get them in the car with crew. And skip having to pay camera, sound, director and others to drive to location, stick them all in one van!
14. One I thing I took away from the programme was that I wanted to hear more from all of the acts. And that it's meant to be fun! The voodoo groove boys are a great bunch and spent many a gig watching them. And check out their Fb page where they have basically spent the last day being nice about the other bands. Too often I practice at the local practice rooms and play gigs with other bands and there is an element of suspicion. I don't even get as much as a hello from them.
15. Will attempt to watch. My wife and I like to watch with an open mind and score it. I don't tend to like the vast majority but can see what constitutes a good song which gets the grey matter working
16.
I'd forgotten that! I got the Give It Away single with a couple of remixes and it was on there IIRC. Still have it buried somewhere..
. It was a two cd single. Remember them? The only chillis single I ever bought. My fave song of theirs. Not listened to anything post californication though
17.
Watched it last night. It fell short for me because a. it was only an hour long (surely a program about concept albums should be a double hour ) and b. for exactly the same reasons we've been discussing on this thread; when is a concept album a concept album.
I agree. You wouldn't believe the stuff that was cut to get to duration!
18. Well this programme goes out on Friday at 10pm on bbc4. Quite a beast to work on- lots of people will be wondering where is so and so etc. I wish there could have been more time to nail down some more interviewees (some declined, many were too busy) and gain access to certain archive. Thanks for everyone's input. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03t1rmn
19.
Another Bridgend here (well Kenfig Hill, but let's not split hairs)...
You're meant to say from in between Bridgend and Porthcawl! (cefn Cribwr boy, living in Cardiff for last 10 years)
20. thanks both - its pretty new so I guess must be one of the peavey ones. I've yet to find one sold to be honest even on ebay. there's one on reverb selling for 800 which is what I'd expect at least if I was selling. Its a nice amp and sounds good but I really woudn't want to pay more than £300 for anything. I find I sound pretty much the same on whatever rig. Its got too many bells and whistles for me (ie - I don't understand compressors or graphic eqs!).
21. Hello, a friend has kindly been letting me use his trace Elliot ah1200 12 to rehearse with. He paid Round 1200 quid new for it. Has anyone seen one come up for sale secondhand? He wants to sell it to me but I can't seem to find any that have sold secondhand.
22. I was loaned a bass from a friend for the first year I played. an off white/ cream bc rich that looked a bit like duffs from guns n roses. Horrible thing to play but did the job until I saved up for my first bass- a mexican fender wine red jazz bass. its still my number one. A bit like triggers broom though where I've changed the pups, pickguard and bridge.
23. I may have some smart media cards knociking around. let me know if you still need one.
24. Loving that feature stripe. And loving your work. Thanks for this thread!
25. my band were asked to play an oxjam all dayer last year. alarm bells should have rung when I heard it was in multiple rooms on a sunday. first band over ran (we were second on) so had a stressed out soundman telling us to hurry up before we started!no crowd so we played for 20 mins and went home. Such a shame. I'll never do another charity event unless myself or band member is involved with it.
