Gak sold me a guitar with rusty strings, dodgy finish, awful action and minus any of the tools and proper box, I complained and they promptly swapped for a brand new one which came with all the case candy and nicely set up. Good customer service in that they responded and dealt with the problem but its a shame it had to happen in the first place. 75 quid cheaper than buying local though.

The lady still has amazing timing, no music was played to her during the interview. They were able to overlay the music in the edit a few weeks later!

this happened with me recently. my lady bought it from an online retailer. guitar just wasnt right, really old dead strings, nasty action etc, tarnished tuers, and didnt have that new feel or smell but definately not played in. I sent it back and they sent a replacement. turns out this one had case candy (spare acoustic saddle and pins, allen key etc.)that was missing from the first one. And there I thought it had come straight from their warehouse!

Stay tuned for a Nile Rogers/chic documentary on bbc4 next year my work mates have made. Its all finished, just waiting for the transmission date. Absolutely beautifully shot.. Nile was interviewed also- I've been told they could have had a 3 hour doc with just him talking.

shameless plug, had the pleasure of working on fairport doc for beeb, it's being shown again this coming friday after Sandy Denny tribute concert. Dave is a fantastic bassist. I absolutely love his playing on Fullhouse, especially Dirty Linen.

just an update, they've been very apologetic and are replacing like for like so fingers crossed this one will be fine.

Hello, anyone had any experience of gak returns policy? My wife lovingly bought me a sigma acoustic (the exact model I wanted which I had tried elsewhere) It turned up in tune but pretty filthy (could have been cardboard box dust I guess) with really mucky strings, a couple of rust marks on the frets and a slight blemish on the side of it (looks like a finish fault-barely noticeable under natural light ). It doesnt play that well either.Quite difficult to play in fact. I'm guessing its come straight from warehouse. Should I be paying for its return/collection and am I right in requesting that if they send another one that they have a look at it before its sent out ?

Hello, I've been after an acoustic for almost a year and found the one I wanted. A sigma 000 R-28V. I tried one of the cheaper versions and loved it and then tried this specific model locally and loved it also. My wife very kindly surprised me with this model yesterday. She bought it from GAK as it was over 60 quid cheaper and being pregnant she didnt have to carry it home. I excitedly opened the box yesterday but there is something not right about it. It came pretty much perfectly in tune which I thought suggested it was recently looked at but everything else suggests its straight from the warehouse. It was pretty dusty. a couple of the strings have blemishes (quite nasty feel to them considering they're meant to be martin ones) and there are one or two rust blemishes on the frets. there's also a very slight imperfection the finish on one of its sides (you can feel it, barely noticeable without putting it under a light). It just doesnt play as well as the ones in the shop, it could probably do with a set up. Would these things make you consider sending it back or should I just pay the difference on someone looking at it? Being a new guitar and over 350 quid, I want it correct but am I just being picky?

I'd buy one of these if I had the cash and space. I've got an american jazzmaster reissue but all I have to do is look at it and the nitro finish picks up a ding! What I really want them to make is a squier Bass VI. they'd make an absolute killing considering the price of 2nd hand japanese ones. (a japanese neck went for nearly 500 quid on ebay the other night) Very unlikely but I live in hope.

He came back with copies of her books (signed) and cds of her basslines for me which I was pretty chuffed about. From what he told me she does a lot of online tutoring via skype these days and I'm sure you can find this info on her site. this is my fave pic of her- totally surrounded by blokes, not a woman to be seen and no doubt they all respected her for what matters- musicianship. I've just realised I've never played: a fender precision (played plenty of cheapo chinese copies) any rickenbacker any musicman any ibanez Any Gibson or epi bass probably every conceivable boutique or custom bass. I'm interested in trying others but not really had the opportunity I suppose and the fact I've owned my Mex Jazz bass for almost 12 years now and not felt comfortable with anything else. that old chestnut if it aint broke, don't fix it I guess!

Loving the minimal set up. And not a monitor in sight! I am in awe of how well they gel. They epitomise the importance of gig fitness!

a colleague of mine has a gibson les paul axcess model. reduced heel, belly contour and its lighter. His one is a non floyd rose model (why it has a floyd rose I don't know and its the only model I can find a link to online) and i got the impression he didnt pay mega bucks for it. Its the first les paul I've played that I've ever felt comfortable with EDIT oops didnt read the post clearly linking to the axcess. doh!
