1. anyone know much about these? Ashdown ABM RC EVO 3 500, Limited Edition just seen one for sale locally. its a uk made one with limted edition blue face as opposed to the chrome face I guess? I just want to know before I go any further is there anything to look out for? any fans? is it worth a few quid more for being blue and uk made? I can see various chrome ones have sold for between £210 upwards and a blue one did appear on bass chat 7 years ago. this one is apparently mint and shy of 300 quid. I'd like to put in a offer but dont want to offend them if its too low !
2. all this hate ! I'm more drawn to to it than ever. Still yet to meet someone who has tried one. will pop over to offset forum to see what they say! I reckon its got potential to be of value in a few years time considering no one seems to have played one and from what I gather are discontinued.
3. sometime around 99 -2000, my setup was a borrowed laney dp150 4x10 combo (tonnes of dials, has put me off graphic eqs and the like ever since then) and a borrowed a white bc rich bass (asian made, I think a gunslinger). I bought the amp but never bought the bass, bought a mim jazz bass in 2000 and its been the main one ever since
4.
Got to wonder, given the chance of a signature bass, the guy could have had a double P pickup setup, could have had a bass with 3 pickups, maybe a J/P/J config, Series/Parallel switching, active eq etc, theres a whole lot of possibilities............................................................ And he decided to not only stick with the most common pickup configuration but to make the bass as ugly as sin too, nothing against P bass configurations but if I was to have a signature P bass it would have double or maybe even triple P pickups, something interesting anyway
I see where you are coming from but reading the blurb about the bass he mentions him and his brother have always loved the weird shaped fenders (I'm surprised they didnt go for a fender performer http://proguitarshop.com/andyscorner/the-fenders-youve-never-heard-of) From what I can see he wanted a different shaped fender with a precision type sound that has a mid scale neck. Personally its a style I'm quite drawn to- I think it should have a jazz pup at the bridge.
5. I saw one of these recently in GAK and completely forgot that I'd seen one here first. Anyways, sorry for reviving this post but did anyone buy one or try one out? I didn't have time but just keep thinking about it!
6. I've never liked pearl Jam's ten. Always hated it. Too me it always sounded over produced. But I've loved everything of theirs from Vs up to Binaural (the last album of theirs I bought I think).
7. used to be one in the claude in roath? Heard people mention the Earl Haig in whitchurch but looks like its a monthly thing on a weekend https://www.facebook.com/pg/earlhaigmemorialclub.co.uk/events/ I've never been interested in them so cant vouch for them. may be seek out some other newbies and go to one of the rehearsal rooms? (eg musicbox)
8. Very sad news. I'll be raising a glass to the motorik beat tonight. I can listen to it for hours!
9. Never seen or heard of this company before. Been lusting after a plain eb2 or rivoli type bass for years.out of interest, how much was it?
10. Jessica Simpson by Adam green " Jessica Simpson, where has your love gone, It's not in your music, no."
11. thanks for all replies. much appreciated and now fixed!
12.
You need to have a ground wire in contact with the underside of the bridge.
I have this wire already threaded through from old plate but I'm guessing a ground wire should have been connected to the loom? would this normally be soldered?
13. Hello, I've been given a jazz bass wiring loom. I understand how the pickups connect to it but where does the ground cable go? Looks like I have to solder it which to to me defeats the object of having a loom?
14.
You could well be right about those amps, i didn't really know my arse from my elbow back in those days!
I had the same head with a 4x10 as a combo. its put me off all amps with graphic eqs! I had no idea what all of those dials did, I just tried to get it as loud as poss.
15. seems like a really good price. over a grand new I think. I've been borrowing one from a mate for the last year for practices in sound rehearsal room. It's heavy compared to the class d type heads around but not too bad taking up and down stairs with handle if you havent any injuries. I like the control panel dimming option for gigs. GLWTS
16. totally agree and I also think its a bit weird that fender now have a chinese range. It should be a squier as well! But my epiphone sg has a big truss rod cover saying gibson on it and I also owned an 80s epi explorer that had both an epiphone and gibson logo. I'd never say to someone its gibson but made by epiphone.
17. I've had an absolute tonne of emails from his record company in the past few weeks. They are putting in the hours in the promo dept. I'll be honest, I saw his name and thought nope, I'm not having any of that. (in a noel gallagher voice). Should give him a chance really!
18. I saw him live about 6 years ago at camp bestival . He had his son and daughter with him in the band. From what I could work it out, he wouldnt wear any in ear monitoring and had the monitors full blast causing all kinds of feedback issues. other than that, he played a solid show with some hired players who had never played with him before. We all enjoyed anyway. I heard the festival organiser mention he still gets paid in cash in hand as well!

Gibson ES175.

Didn't the new gibsons go up loads retail wise a few years back hence the generous second hand values? A brand new epi version of the 175 is going for around £700 new, saw a s/h one for sale around the £400 mark yesterday. There cant be masses of them around the uk either - by there being less of them does that increase their value or decrease due to being less desired? I dunno! I'd have a look at the ebay sold prices to make a judgement.
20. I've not heard of this album before. I'm guessing you've seen it's streaming here? http://es.musicplayon.com/Clutch-The-Mob-Goes-Wild-Live-At-The-Corner-Hotel-Album-Music-Video-777957.html?mobile=N Clutch are doing a uk tour in December and playing Cardiff again. Cant wait!
21. I've got a British sea power Kendall mint cake bar. I won an absolute bundle of merch when radio 1 still did comps. I've got an oasis tracksuit in man city colours. Must get round to selling it at some point.
22. Never heard of him but I share the same surname! Will be checking it out later
23. One of those bands I always liked whenever they were on the radio a few years back. I saw the album sound dust in this beautiful pink book type case so bought it. Alas still the only album of theirs I own
24. I hate listening to reggae . A couple of times I've had to play Bob Marley stuff and it's been so much fun. I guess it's the locking in with the drummer
25. I remember the name of your band quite vividly. Trying to think If I own any singles or saw you in Cardiff?
