1.
Personally I'm starting to feel a bit uncomfortable with the amount of slagging of that we give this bloke here. I'm not in anyway defending what he does, but some basschat members are starting to act like a flock of vultures fighting over a not yet dead carcass, or a gang of playground bullies, in their eagerness to get in and give the bloke kick when he's down. Not very edifying, and In my opinion this is not basschat at it's best.
I can see where you're coming from but the man in question is making money by conniing budding musicians into believing the tat and butchery he pedals is worth their money and for that he deserves all the sh*t that can be reasonably thrown his way.
2. Sorry, I think I can see what you're going for but to me it just looks bad .
3.
(I saw this band at the Hammersmith Odeon - with the future Mrs. Baggins
Wow indeed, if she's willing tp put herself through that level of trauma for you, then NEVER let her go, she's clearly a keeper!
4. Some nice playing, vocals really ruined it for me though!
5. Apart from the headstock I think thats a pretty nice looking bass.
6. Thanks BC, can be such a pain finding lefty basses and a continued lefty thread/sub section is really helpful. I've searched all over the web and BC has by far the best one I've come across. Thanks for taking the time to help us out, it really is appreciated!
7.
What's not to like?
Everything bar the music I'd say, the sort of movie that should never have seen the light of day .
8. Yeah, it is a lot of fun, not a teaching tool as such but definitely a fun way to learn some new stuff. As Dr M says the dynamic difficulty is pretty good, starting you out with the basics of a track and ramping up to the full song as you nail phrases along the way. It also lets you pick out sections and slow them down which can he handy. They've been supporting it with a regular stream of downloadable content as well, bit pricey but some prety good bass stuff in there.
9. Punched a wall after a family argument.and broke my fretting hand, not sure which was worse the embrassment of having done something so stupid or not being able to play for a month . Also (and I've no idea how I managed this) got a set of very deep gouges that went right underneath the pads/fingertips on the same hand whilst posting a dvd into a rental drop box, lot of blood, must have puzzled the poor sod who had to collect the films as well.
10. What bugs me is that so many of the entrants go on about how music is their life, all they've ever wanted to do was perform. Do they go out and find a band? go to open mic nights or do anything to further their dreams? no they wait for a 'talent' show to turn up on their door steps before they'll do anything. Obviously this isn't true for all of them but seems to be the case for the majority, I can't work out how they really want to do this but have never got off their arses and tried.
11. Has to be the '65 for me, great colour combination, the wear gives it bags of character and from the description it's the sort of sound I'd love.
12. I really hope this guy does the decent thing and gives you your cash back. If you do end up having to take him to court though, go through https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome. It's a pretty straightforrward process and with his gumtree ad and an appraisal from a reputable luthier he wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
13. congrats, looks bloody lovely! Would have been all over that myself if I'd been quick enough. Enjoy! .
14. I'd prefer block inlays but other than that I think it looks fantastic!
15.
Hmm! Maybe their roadie has been demoted to drummer?
Fixed that for you
16. Picked this up today and it's actually pretty great. 50 odd songs to learn, mini games and technique exercises and a dynamic difficuly level that keeps ramping up until you're playing the song note for note. Pretty tricky to get the hang of the notation/note highway but I'm getting there. Just been added to Steam so it'll be out on PC soon as well as the consoles.
17. I'd never really noticed the bass guitar much until a friends dad played us that song, inspired me to get my first bass .
18.
Do 'righties' look wrong to the cack-handed, do you think..?
Even as a lefty the variety of decal placements Fender use for their l/h models just dont look right. The stack knob jazz linked though is jaw dropping, don't like that guy's prices but I'm always keen to see the exhaustive pics .
19.
When I play it I find the trick is to keep the picking hand going continuously through out and to concentrate on the fretting and muting, if that makes any sense!
That approach really helped me with Detroit, may give Maxwell Murder or Axiom a go next. Really love some of Matt Freeman's bass lines, been messing about with Roots Radicals and Journey to the end, so much fun to play . Forgot they were touring and £22 for the Nottingham show seems pretty reasonable, looking forward to seeing them again!
20. Mentioned further up the page but I thought I'd give Guitar spares and repairs in Birmingham a shout. Did a great job sorting out and setting up my Jazz, couldn't have been happier with the service. http://www.guitarrep...rmingham.co.uk/
21. Had an awkward rehearsal with a guy who said he was into and could play all the stuff in our set. I though things were looking good when he whipped out his vintage Gibson, unfortunately the only song he could play was a shaky version of All right now. Pretty bloody annoying and fairly awkward when we asked him to leave ater twenty minutes. Still the one song he could play was better than the drummer we auditioned who couldn't actually play at all. He really couldn't and I'm not convinced he'd ever actually sat at a drum kit before. Christ knows who was playing on the tape he gave us but it certainly wasn't him. He also brought along his other half, presumably to impress her with his drumming prowess. He walked out in a sulk when our guitarist took the sticks off and tried to show him how to keep a beat in4/4 time .
22.
Am I allowed to do insufferable Dad bit and drop a vid of my lad playing bass in his band? I know I'm biased but I love this song
I can see why, really enjoyed that. Very interesting song and some really nice bass going on .

The six hours of sanding was clearly time well spent, that looks great!
24. Damn! must remember to have a look and see how much human kidneys are going for at the moment .
25. Just looking over those pics for the umpteenth time and I just love that bass, gorgeous from every angle! Genuinely think thats one of the nicest basses Ive ever seen.
