1. Got the replacement through yesterday and I have to say I'm getting pretty annoyed with the retailer - Thomann . Bass isn't damaged this time but clearly isn't new, no manufacturer packaging, scratch plate film peeled and an entirely dead set of strings with obvious signs of wear/grime with some wear on the frets. It's clearly B stock but I'd swear it's had more than 30 days of use judging by the fret wear and grime on the board. Getting in touch with them now but I have to say that I'm very surprised at Thomann's very poor service in this case.
2.
I've only ever played in originals bands but I found the first song we gigged way back from 1995/6: https://soundcloud.c...ve-killing-time
Like the bass on that, sounds a lot like Bill Gould from Faith No More Mine was Territorial Pissings (Nirvana song), we were all 16/17 and blagged a gig at our local. We packed the place with people we knew so it went down very well despite us being ropey.
3. Liked everything about my Stingray but just didn't love anything about it. Great looking, well built and sounded good but since selling I've never missed it. Tried a Sandberg VM4 and was instantly in love with the sound and feel, unfortunately that bass had some QC issues and I really hope they do a better job with the replacement.
4.
This is a friend: http://www.laney.co..../daniel_pugsley He's made it to quite near the top in the genre
Seen them a few times and always liked his playing, fantastic front man in Benji as well. Really a great live band.
5. Really love the flats with full volume and tone sound, sounds bloody lovely! not normally one for the relic look but I think that really does like like a great bass.
6.
I listened to that all the way through - that's rare for me when it comes to YouTube bass demos!
Same here, I usually get bored by them but that was thoroughly enjoyable. great song and great playing!
7. Great job! must be a lot of fun to play around with those sounds
8. Had it a few times, lists a lefty mike lull, I wouldn't mind but I keep forgetting about it and then getting disappointed all over again when the error repeats
9. Thanks for the replies, really appreciate the advice, will get in tough with the retailer. Hopefully they'll be able to do a straight swap because this bass sounds great, it really is one of the nicest sounding and playing basses Ive owned, really surprised and how much oomph these pickups have between them. Getting a replacement without these issues would be ideal. Thanks all!
10. Got my Sandberg California delivered today, would really appreciate some opinions on the neck pocket though. Had a number of good quality basses and never noticed a gap like this on any of them, just wondering if it's reasonable to return or exchange it over this? Theres also some sloppy work on the output jack as well. Anyhow, here are a few picks of the issue ] For a new bass, these issues are disappointing, am I making too much of it? the gap seems pretty wide on both sides of the neck.
11. That 75RI is just about Jazz perfection, had my eye on one at Ishibashi, beautiful looking bass, would be drooling over it even withnout the b&b neck which just makes it look amazing .
12. It does seem a bit much, the old thread wound up with a lot of piss taking but some how that wasn't enough?
13. I'm awaiting delivery of a new lefty bass from Thomann, of course I tried my local retailers, and several national ones first. None of them stocked it, or were prepared to order one on my behalf, I'd have happily given one of them my business if they were in any way interested. Instead I had no choice but to go with Thomann, who also went back on a recent price increase on this bass in order to make the sale, if my local music shops go, I really won't miss them.
14. Very sorry to see the place go . Saw my first proper live band there, and was always fond of the place. When myself and a couple of mates decided to learn to play we couldn't wait to play there ourselves, have a lot of great memories of playing and seeing bands there!
15. Still have mine, very heavy bass, plays well enough when setup properly. Main thing to do will be to get a decent pickup in there, the stock one in mine is extremely weak.
16. Loved Faith No More, wish they'd had a longer set but it was really great to see them. Soundgarden playing Superunknown in full was just amazing for me, one of my all time favourite bands and they were on great form, loved every minute. Sabbath were as dull as always so headed off not long into their set.
17.
Well done to the easily offended...
Indeed, a great victory for those with far too much time on their hands
18. "Single Genuine Ernie Ball Machine Head. " Interesting choice of mod, missing at least one screw as well
19. Watched them live yesterday and they sounded amazing, wasn't the longest set but all of their material was good, with three or four stand out tracks. Was also great to see/hear how it all worked. Definitely worth going to see!
20. I've parted with various basses, a stingray and a few US fenders that I haven't missed remotely. There was a Japanese Fender 62 replica Jazz that I still miss though, eyeing up a few possible replacements through Ishibashi, I've just never stopped missing that particular bass. At this point I don't even know if it was really as good as I remember it being or just nostalgia.
21. Listening to Have You Ever, always loved his tone on that track. The riff from about 2:45 onward really sounds fantastic!
22. They're the main reason I got a friday ticket, though I'm hoping to see some Royal Blood and maybe Temperance Movement as well.
23. Long time fan, think he's responsible for long time ATK gas as well, only ones I can ever find lefty are the Paul Grey ones . Heres a link to their set a Rock Am Ring last weekend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syHg5teWj-o&list=PLsI_UGt8HTt_YUkHwG2eAAgGpNA5C5anb&index=5 Going to see them at Download this Friday, can't wait! it's been a good few years since I've got to see them live.
24. As much as you haven't had a sign or something telling you to keep doing it, you don't appear to have had one to tell you not to. On that basis I don't understand why you should stop, if it brings other people and yourself happiness then stick with it!
25. Can vouch for GAK, have used them a few times for online orders and would happily use them again.
