1. I have left a band because of a drummer, I've also joined a band who I wasn't keen on because I enjoyed playing with their drummer so much. I can put up with plenty but I can't play with a bad drummer. Those buggers are just so crucial to a good band, can't live with 'em etc etc
2. One of the best looking Jazz basses I've ever seen, very, very nice! *edit* is it the pics or does the string alignment look a bit off?
3.
Mike Starr on 'Rooster'. Fat, Spectory awesomeness.
Good shout, fantastic tone and a fantastic player!
4. Dont normally like though neck basses that show it on the front but in combination with that gorgeous finish it really looks sweet. Always fancied trying a twin split pickup setup as well, congrats!
5.

What does this have to do with the thread? Anyway, Faith No More's covers of Easy and War Pigs, love the originals but prefer the FNM versions Also Nirvana's cover of Love Buzz, love what they did with that tune!
6.
I was actually impressed with the PA in the Wolves civic hall, no idea what it was but it was generally very clear, particularly for lead vocals.
Always been one of my favourite venues the Wolves Civic, seen so many bands there over the years and I've honestly never heard a band sound bad there, well, they may have played badly but the sound system was never to blame. It's the perfect venue for me in terms of size and sound quality. Love the place!
7. My experience was two used basses passed off as new and they couldn't have given a crap. Clearly the majority of people have better luck with them but I'd rather pay a bit more and use a retailer I can trust.
8. It certainly does look like a quality bit of kit and even including a small outlay with a luthier it seems look you got it for a good price!
9. I'd say the drummer and particularly the vocalist are bigger issues than the bass player. There isn't a player around that will make the singer's shouting sound good
10. If the head gasket didn't go then yes, you were clearly one of the chosen few, hopefully the imitation wood trim trim softened the blow
11. Cass Lewis, I knew how good a bass player he was but it wasn't until I was dragged along to see Skunk Anansie live that I was just floored by his tone and playing. This vid isn't the best quality but gives an idea, he really did blow me away. Awesome taste in basses too! Matt Wong, always seemed to play a 5 string 'Ray, no longer with Reel Big Fish but I just fell in love with his tone and playing, fantastic feel and sense of melody and really inspired me to get out of a rut my playing had been stuck in. And basically anything off the debut Rage Against The Machine album, tone is just flatout badass! Never occured to me before that so many of my favourite bass tones were from Musicman basses.
12. Heh, you know I thought the second I posted that I should have reread to make sure that hadn't been suggested
13. What about a Gibson Ripper or Grabber? they seem to go for affordable prices and personally I love the sound of them!
14. I was thinking the same having just listened, certainly not as good as I've heard on other live recordings it but I though it was pretty nice. Was within a few feet of him when he was playing with Them Crooked Vultures a few years back and that was a bass sound to remember, just fantastic and he was clearly having a blast playing with those guys.
15. Went over to Germany for chistmas last year, for the price of the flights, the quality of the food and drink I'd highly recommend a trip to one of the more traditional christmas markets over there. Haven't felt so much in the christmas spirit since i were knee high to a etc etc
16. So fed up of him gurning over his piano in that christmas ad, wish someone would run in and slam his fingers in the bloody thing! I don't watch much tv but I'm already sick of the supermarket christmas ads and it's not even December. Christmas is my favourite time of year and these money grabbing *$&! bags really do make it that much less special when it finally arrives .
17. Sounds awesome, were you support or crew?
18. I was pretty surprised to get to the end of your post and see the price, seems like a hell of a lot of bass for that kind of money. Looks great as well
19. I love that the blurb contains more information about wear and dings than the fact its been set on fire! I think an unburnt pickguard would really make it look a lot better.
20. The two I had were in a poor state but I'm certain that was down to the retailer not Sandberg. The first VM4 I received, quite easily the nicest bass I've ever heard, sounded huge in active mode and had such a great fat mellow sound in passive mode and despite it's issues I still kind of regret returning it. Will definitely be looking to get another in future.
My problem is that I see more for sale second hand than anything else. The second hand market is flooded with Sandbergs. Bass Direct posts a second hand one almost every day it seems!
I'd noticed this as well, several resold within weeks of the owner getting them but I am still jonesing for the sound the VM4 made. You could order from Thomann, they offer a money back deal (less shipping) if you're not satisfied with the instrument. I'd say I see more Warwicks going second hand than Sandbergs though and the owners in general seem to be taking a bigger hit on price. Amazes me considering what great quality basses they make.
21. Ernieball.co.uk are great for parts, they have covers and everything else you could want. Good prices and service as well.
22. I think £20 for unlimited 12 month listings is a great deal compared to ebay. Plus your ad will be seen by a load of bassists, rather than sticking it on gumtree or ebay and hoping someone stumbles across it, I think that also has value.
23. I like scanning the range of sub forums there, some good people over there as well and some pretty entertaining threads every now and then. The luthier, band management and gig stories threads are often worth a look. I suppose it's natural that a site of that size lacks the community feel that makes BC what it is though.
24.
Brody Dalle will kill it too - great voice!
Just thinking exactly that, her voice is awesome, might go to this
25. No.1 Pino would be my guess, both sound very nice though and I'm very interested to find out which is which!
