I bought today that thing - http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1497.l2649 Anyone know what it might be? There is no logo and i have no idea.
I was after this! So apologies for bumping the price up....... It's a matsumoku I think, given the "Made in Japan" plate on the back. Let me know how it plays when you get it! -
So here's the story. The band goes to a new studio Friday night for a couple of hours. Very nice too, big room and good kit. Rehearsal was good, we pay our twenty quid and off we go. Happened to go out without my mobile yesterday and when I got home 8 missed calls and a text from said studio "ring me back ASAP". I phoned back to be told "a Shure 58 has gone missing and you were the only band in last night, so you must have nicked it" "Whoa" I said, hang on a minute, where's your evidence? "You were the only band in so it must have been you" says he. Now I haven't been with this band long but we all work and I can't imagine for a minute that anyone's stolen anything. Unbeknown to me, he's also texted our guitarist, full of swearing and accusations of theft, gonna get the police involved etc etc. Anyway, long story short the band knows nothing about a nicked microphone and we phone him and tell him so. An hour or so after this, I get another phone call from the studio - he's discovered that his mate had taken the Mic home with him without telling him! To be fair, he did apologise, and so he should I reckon - just handled it all wrong! Question is do we go back? LC
+1 to a free practice. Which rehearsal rooms is it?

You send the bass before you've been paid for it?? You're the lovely chap not him...
I'm great at meeting famous people because i never know who they are. I was at Glastonbury, in the beer tent on the edge of the pyramid stage, we was laughing at the P*ss police when a big fella opened conversation with me & a mate. we chatted to him for ages offering pointers at the lesser known bands & just basically having a laugh with a stranger. As we walked away my mate gushed at how cool i was when talking to him........i had no idea what he was on about. It was Jonah Lomu. Being from a Yorkshire thats a big deal......i just never recognize people until later. but i stand by my comment. people are just people But it was nice to meet such a friendly warm guy, who just happened to be talented at what he did.
My ex came back to the tent one morning at Glastonbury saying she'd had a lovely chat with a guy called 'Cyril' who'd played the guitar and sung a bit. A few months later we're watching the telly when she goes 'Oh wow! That's Cyril!' 'It's not Cyril' says I '- It's SEAL!' -
Coming up to renewal time for insurance and checking the small print some interesting things pop up with Mu&£@*uard. For theft from home you need a 5 lever mortice on all external doors AND the same on the internal door room where the equipment is stored,
......IF the equipment is worth over £15,000. Under that and NO security arrangements are required.
Withdrawn, but not pulled by ebay. I hope nobody took him up on his call for offers of around £200.
I emailed him and pointed out that what it was. He replied saying he's relist with the correct title.
The only time I get narked with the punters is when they invite themselves onto the stage. Partly because it's a distraction, but mostly for their safety. They can do whatever they like off the stage...dance, sing, fight each other...whatever makes them enjoy the evening. We had a bloke strip infront last year whilst playing a Curtis Mayfeild song. We saw a white shoe fly over our heads and when we looked down to the dance floor there he was on display. He had a great night out! We continue to play that song in his honour.
A Cardiff band doing Curtis Mayfield? What band are you in? In response to the OP, I don't hate the punters for having a good time, but when they just stand and watch a funk band I either think that we haven't hit the groove or they're dead from the waist down!
By way of trades I'd be interested in Daion (PowerMax guitars), Ibanez (Artist, Musician guitars; Musician, Stagemaster basses), Tokai (Talbo guitars/basses), Washburn (Falcon, Eagle guitars), Yamaha (SA, SC guitars; SA, SB basses; MIJ BB2000 - fretless, passive), and early Status Empathy four-string.
If you check his other items and plow your way through the kids toys, he's also selling the neck, £19.99 so far. It looks ok from the pics
From the listing for the neck:
Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe V Neck. This item has a cracked truss rod thar needs replacing. The neck is also warped and fret board is held on by a poxy resin.
-
