1.
Possibly worth mentioning at this point that I am looking for a Westone Pantera Deluxe X790 bass. Just in case there actually is someone out there with one going spare who just so happens to be reading this...
There's one here but it'll cost yer AND you have to get it shipped from the 'States. Looks pretty good though, I only wish Westone had made a 5-string Thunder or even a Superheadless 5-er..*sigh* EDIT: I should put the link in shouldn't I! 2. I was talking to someone I hadn't met before at a friend's party when he mentioned that he's like to be a Mayor one day. At this point I noticed that his hands were shaking. I GENUINELY thought that he was doing a Michael J.Fox impression and told him I thought it was in poor taste. ..Whereupon he informed me (and the 7 other people standing round us) that the shaking was due to the medication he had to take for a serious illness. Scheiser! Another time, while working on the door of a club I told a guy I wouldn't let him in as he'd obviously had enough already, being unable to take the change from me easily and wobbling a bit. That was when he told me he was registered blind, so it was tricky for him to see me offering the change in the dark corridor. I should've spotted the clues as I work supporting people with disabilities! D'oh!
3.
friends are more important than music.
In which case he'll understand that you need to replace him and remailn friends with you both. ...Unless he's a prima donna idiot who'll get massively offended and not speak to you for the next 6 months EVEN THOUGH IT WASN'T YOU WHO WANTED HIM OUT AND YOU ARGUED HIS CASE. Move along now, nothing to see here.
4.
Ugh, pure cheese. I don't get the James Taylor thing. Americans love that brand of mush. Makes for a very dull song, IMO
Ooooh someone's cranky! You know what you need? A lovely big hug!
5. What's the best technique for getting a hard, short, pull-off (as heard in Luther Vandross's 'Never Too Much? I can't seem to deaden the note enough. And you, Jones, at the back there - stop sniggering boy! EDIT: And after all the innuendo, what I actually meant was the hammer-on pop towards the end of the phrase in the verse.
6.
I think my heart broke when I read project 2
Actually, now the photos are up, it's not too bad. Having a little think about this one....

There's a place called Vogue Gyratory? In Brighton? No wonder it's so bloody camp!
9. Beautiful headstock on this Thunder...... http://www.ebay.co.u...ME:B:SS:GB:1123
10. I don't normally dig big bass solos but Bootsy's off the hook on this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZECQCQjP38
11. Loving this by The Brothers Johnson which no doubt has been posted some pages back http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbxUtFDKz8k Rather annoying that it's in Gminor and the tape has been sped up so it sits somewhere between G and Ab though....
12. Westones are beautiful and amazing to play! I would really like a Thunder IIa, the version with 2 precision style pups and the xlr output if anyone has one to sell...........
13. I think it's Vintage One who put up the ad.
14.
There's any number I could have picked, but plumped for this seeing as it kicks off with the bass. Great playing/tone. Allen McGrier, I believe? http://youtu.be/FEFw_EnCuNE
So good! There's too much good funk in this thread - I'm getting a funk overdose!
15. Massive bargain! I already have one and not enough cash for another.. ....But I'll by the hardcase from you!
16.
Sultans Of Ping FC - Give Him A Ball (And A Yard Of Grass)
Great song and great band! Used to play 'Where's Me Jumper?' and 'S-t-u-p-i-d Kid' many years ago.
17. Loving Quincy's version of Superstition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3teWjVPNmQ
18. Oh wow this looks nice! If anyone wants to buy by Thunder II Fretless I'm in for this
19. Found this lurking on my iPod when I went for a run earlier. What. A. Groove! Ps. The voice sounds a lot like Tracy Chapman-Stick to me!
20. First, seperate body and neck (only for bolt-ons!) Wrap body in bubble wrap and a layer or high density foam (bought as off-cuts from my local haberdashers - 50p for all you can carry!) Place neck in cardbard tube also from haberdashers for the price of 0p Wrap head in bubble wrap and more foam and place in shoe box. Gaffa the shoe box to the tube. Place tube inside box you've now put the body in and gaffa the lot together. Stick on address and draw on moustache, smile and eyes with Tipp-ex and voila! One very well packaged bass at a total cost of some bubble-wrap and a roll of Gaffa.
21.
the body of the guitar was made by now non existent luthier in Poland and I replaced the neck with a fretless one last year. The whole guitar was given a respray at the same time.
He made the bass and then simply ceased to exist??
22. After reading this topic I booked tickets to see Vintage Trouble in Cardiff last night. And........ they had a few good numbers but waaaaaaay too much filler material. It sounded like a lot of the songs were written for Middle America and I was blanded out by halfway into the gig. It wasn't helped by the fact that me and Mrs pup were told to f*ck off by some nice respectable-looking chaps who obviously don't like dancing at gigs!
23.
Absolutely no flexibility with my employer whatsoever. A real pain working saturdays as well. If I were to work through my break all that would happen is I'd get knabbed to still work to the end of my shift. Booking days off is a real nightmare, last week I had to book my leave for next year, up until April 2013, and there is talk of limiting availability.
Limiting availabilty to take your holidays that are stated in your contract? Tell them to pi$$ off!
24. This place is supposed to be quite good - http://www.cardiffguitars.co.uk/
25. Free bump for a GREAT bass!
