1. The best head / cab combination that I've ever played was a pair of Marshall Super Bass hundreds through 4, 4x12 Sound City cabinets. The sound was clean with just a bit of valve 'edge', not overly loud but consistent wherever I went on or off stage. High highs and low lows and incredibly responsive. It looked amazing as well.
2. A Wem ER40 and Starfinder cabinet for me along with a left handed Wem Sapphire bass in sunburst. All from a Bell's catalogue and easy payments.
3. Why thank you kind sir!
4. £300 for a small wooden box? Having a laugh aren't they?
5. I couldn't EQ the mid out with the passive EQ on the Traynor or the Mywatt. It was better with a graphic EQ pedal but I couldn't EQ the bass in to my liking. Also it sort of lost the reason for having Jacks in the first place. This is of course very subjective as I know others are more than happy with the sound of the jacks. I should also add that the rest of the band commented that they could hear what I was playing clearer with the Jacks.
6. I built a pair with 3015HOs and used then stacked with a Carvin B1500, a Traynor 300w valve head and a Mywatt 200. They do exactly as BFM claims. The sound that you hear is the sound that the audience hears and they hear it everywhere in the venue. Each note is loud and clear and the cabs are also very efficient. But, there's always a but, I didn't like the sound that much. There's not a lot of deep bass. Plenty of mids ands highs but not a lot of depth. Don't get me wrong, the bass isn't missing, it's all there but it's not the sort of bass that comes out of the cabinet rolls across the stage, falls onto the floor and then up the trouser leg of anyone that's listening, if you know what I mean. Our very own discreet came and tried them out and preferred the sound of the Jack 12s, perhaps he'll pop in later and can give you his opinion as well. If you like a well balanced sound then they're brilliant, but if you like a bit of rumble then they're not for you. I've still got mine actually, all sad and lonely and looking for a new home. Not quite sure what to do with them. I might just take the speakers out and sell them separately.
7. Sorry for the slow reply but only just seen your question, the answer to which is, yes it is.
8. Still sounds like a guitar to me.
9. I like the look of that Schaller.
10. A Burns Bison. Lusted after one since the 60s. Being left handed, there's no chance of try before you buy so got one on the www. How disappointed was I. Didn't like it at all.
11. Also done. Good luck.
12. I think it's because our Vince just can't sing, which is a bit of a disadvantage if you're the singer. Personally, I think poison is the best song he's ever done. I have the same problem as mentalextra but with Meatloaf.
13. An EB3 is only an EB0 with an extra pickup. Have a look at Danelectro as well.
14. I didn't find out about it 'til it had finished. Great work though.
15. I used an old power tool case that I had laying around. That and a couple of sheets of foam and I'm good to go. It's also free so even better.
16. Never have. Perhaps that's why I'm a poor person.
17.
ive just noticed loads of spam emails from ebay recommending enrgy saving monitors thing is i only searched for them on google i dont actually recall searching for them on ebay at all although i may have clicked a google link and landed on an ebay page but even if i did it was just the once - they then grab this and bombard you with it ! PITFA
Noticed the same thing with Amazon.
18. The Barefaced 69er is a very light weight 6x10.
19. When I started playing bass in 1965, the only strings available were tape wound, flats to you and they were horrible, horrible things. Horrible sound, horrible feel, just horrible. When I tried my first set of swing bass it was a life changing revelation. I saw the light. I heard the sound that was in my head but never in my amp. My memory of flats means that I would never use them again under any circumstances. Did I use to many horribles there?
20. Have you thought about ethernet to wireless then back again. Might be worth looking into. http://www.netgear.co.uk/home/products/wireless-adapters/
21. Another vote for the Yamaha. Great mixer with a small footprint.
22. I'd use a 2 ft spirit level with some fine wet & dry double sided taped to it myself.
