1.
There is something about the '69er that is quite special. It must be the combination of sealed punchy goodness, added harmonics from that top right driver, and the roll off at 40Hz - it just works really well. All of those elements have changed - I hope this cab hasn't lost what makes the '69er so special.
This, plus, I love my 69er and have no desire to change even if the new 6x10 is a little louder. I'd guess that the new 10s are 24 ohms each.
2. I think what you are trying to do is more simple than what you are trying to do it on. Perhaps all you need is a hard disc recorder such as one of these, http://www.thomann.de/gb/boss_micro_br_br80.htm or even an old portastudio. Not as versatile I know, but a lot easier to use.
3. I don't mind as long as lots of them.
4.
Can you Bi-Amp the Thomann amp to do something like 2 x 500w at 8 Ohm?
Yes. http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tamp_d4500.htm http://images.thomann.de/pics/prod/c_218916_en_online.pdf
5. We use a couple of these for our PA. Very impressed. http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tamp_d4500.htm
6. Slow blues in E chaps? No jamming for me thanks.
7. No, just a lot of grass to cut. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV8RF45n0BY
8. To get in the way.
9. When discreet and I got together the other day, he brought his MB Fusion 500 with him so had a chance to compare my streamliner 900 with that. Not being a fan of the GK sound I was suprised to find that I actually liked the sound of the fusion and we both agreed that with a bit of twiddling we could get both amps to sound pretty much the same.
10. I use easily, www.easily.co.uk, always been good to me.
11. Why thank you sir. I have to admit to being a very happy bunny. A superb cab. Buy it and be in bass heaven.
12. Yep, that's the place for big ones and 69ers.
13. Once did a gig with a band that had a sax player, not just an ordinary sax player, oh no, but one that liked to make electronic gadgets. He made an octave generator for his sax. All the way through the gig I was constantly told to turn down as the bass was too loud. Getting well pissed off with this, I actually switched my amp off and pretended to play anything other than the song we were playing making it very obvious that the bass wasn't me. I was told to turn down again. After going to great lengths to explain that the bass wasn't too loud as the amp wasn't even switched on, they realised that the sax player was playing bass with his sax. They never apologised though.
14. Trace Elliot originally made P.A.s. They branched out into bass amplification with the introduction of the GP11 preamp, I think that's what it was called. This was married to one of their PA power amps. The speakers were the same PA speakers that they were already building. I remember going to their factory many years ago and spending a few hours playing around with GP11 and various combinations of cabinets. Eventually I managed to get a sound that I quite liked but as it was pretty close to the sound that I already had there didn't seem a lot of point in changing to TE. 15. A bumping we will go.
16. I've decided to sell my Eminence Kappalite 15s, 8 ohms. They are not the LF but the HO models, ideal for a 2x15. I had them mounted in a pair of Jack 15s and only used them a few times so they've probably only had up to 10 hours use, they are however fully burned in. I didn't like the sound of the Jacks so these have just been sitting in the studio unused but not unloved. I'm never going to use them so here they are for sale. £210 for the pair posted or I will split them and post them for £110 each. Info and current prices from Blue Aran and Lean Business below. Bank transfer is good or paypal gift. 17. Where are you playing in Ashford? We and my 69er are at the star . It would appear that Ashford may well be a Barefaced only zone tonight.
18. Always wear on stage what you wouldn't wear on the street. Mind you, trying to get a dressing room to change in is a different story.
19. +1 to the BFM titan39's, brilliant cabs.
20. Had this same problem with our drummer a few years ago, just couldn't get the level with an SM58 so got one of these, http://www.samsontech.com/samson/products/microphones/dynamic-microphones/q4cl/ Twice as much level before feedback. Not the only mic to look at of course, but the right mic is out there somewhere.
21. Nothing to do with John Entwhistle, just the same surname. I've fitted a P and a J to my bass and use them all the time. I thought that at that price what have I got to lose? The answer is nothing, they are seriously good, good output and no noise and sound just they are supposed to, oh, single coil as well. I'm impressed if that means anything.
