Is there a viable pedalboard poweramp for Bass?
bertbass replied to Zim's topic in General Discussion
I've mounted a Genz-Benz shuttle 6 to my pedal board and plug my preamp, a BDI21 into the effects return and it's brilliant. -
Many thanks for all your input. I’ll have a look and see which I can get everyone to accept.

I've seen this mentioned before but I can't find it. My question is, we need a band diary that can be accessed and edited by each band member. The problem is, iphones, android phones, Mac os and windows. Band members who won't use facebook because they don't want the government to know where they are. Other member who will only use their phones. I think you get the picture. Personally, I like a little book like thing with pages with dates on each page, it's called a diary but the aim is to go digital. Any ideas for a digital, cross platform diary. All help / advise gratefully accepted.

Fishman fission bass powerchord f/x pedal. Superb bit of kit but you have to treat the fx output like a separate instrument. Separate amp and pedals, job done! This is it and while they don't have them in stock there are plenty around. https://www.hotroxuk.com/fishman-fission-bass-powerchord-fx-pedal.html

As I started playing in 1965, nothing is really vintage and seems quite new and I can't believe the prices that are being asked for 'vintage' instruments and amps.

got this through from NewTone. https://mailchi.mp/3a804555dc00/15-discount-code?e=dd489637a4

Superb strings, 50-110 Diamond and stainless steel for me. The strings I've been trying to find for 55 years.

If play fine with a pick, just use the pick and adjust your tone controls to the desired sound.
-
I like the look of that but surprize, surprize, no left handed models. I won't be getting one then!
-
Sounds like the speakers are out of phase to me.

Most songs when the drummer gets excited!

Apparently his violin bass has no side dot markers which means that he has to look at the front of the neck to see where he is on the neck making it more obvious that he's looking.

When I started playing, I was a 2 x 4x12 or 4 when I could afford it. Then when speaker technology improved, went to 2 x 4x10. Bought the first 6x10 that BF made and was astonished by how good it was. I was forced to sell it due to poverty but have since bought a BF 2x10 and am truly amazed that this little cab is so good. I don't need anything else, it's mighty and I'm not a quiet bass player. Anyone that doubts that a BF 2x10 is not enough to gig with should try one, you'll be amazed!

I've got some, a P and a J. They're OK, not bad by any means and certainly value for money.

In the 60s / 70s and 80s, a hundred watt Pa amp and a pair of 2 x 12s, or if you were rich enough a pair of 4 x 12s, was more than adequate. Don't worry.

Ground lift to cancel humming - how does that work?
bertbass replied to bassbiscuits's topic in Amps and Cabs
That's an earth loop. When two pieces of earthed equipment are connected together with a lead you can form an earth loop. The ground lift breaks the earth connection between them eliminating the loop and stopping the noise, all the equipment is still earthed through it's own earth so no safety hazzard. -
It depends. Are you thinking combos or head and cabinet? If you wants to go with valves, a 100 watts will be plenty. Transistors, 300 watts will be enough. If you want class d then at least 500 watts. I know people will come along and say a watt is a watt but real world experience says different.

100W Stoneham valve amp - small footprint, lighter weight
bertbass replied to Merton's topic in Amps and Cabs
I think that EL34s sound the best. -
Ah, memories. I had one and it was the loudest Superbass in history. Bass, treble and presence on full, middle right off and volume to taste. Tone heaven.

As soon as they release a left handed version I'll let you know. -

I did say pluck.

It also depends where you pluck it!

The power amp input impedance is relevant as well.
