  1. But, how many who have played it, played it correctly?
  2. I couldn't get the old ones to stay in my ears either so never bothered. Are the new ones that much better? Thanks for the review.
  3. I've done it and I was happy with the result. There are many ways of doing it but the safest way is to just use sand paper. Start off with something like 60 grit and when you get it to where you want it, start using finer grades to make it really smooth. Finish the neck in your choice of finish. Oil, varnish or leave it as it is.
  4. I don't know which is louder but my 2x10 is truly amazing! keeps up with 2 guitarists and drummer no problem at all in all venues and even outdoors. It defies the laws of physics!
  5. The sockets can get dirty with no use and the amp can stop working. Using a short lead between the sockets can negate the problem.
  6. I bought one of those new in, surprisingly, 1972. Left handed, it cost me £220 in sunburst. I don't like sunburst but a solid colour would have been 10% extra and I couldn't afford it. I had to order it from my friendly, local music shop and when it eventually arrived, it was rubbish. Yes the neck was out of line and when straightened up, soon found its way back again. The bridge adjusted itself constantly and the neck was really thick and hard to play, for me at least. I was a tad disappointed. 1972 was not a good year for Fender!
  7. I'd love to try the vast majority of basses but being left handed, they just don't make them. But I live in hope.
  8. I've tried and use Newtone short scale strings. Just as good as their long scale. They are excellent! Just remember to go up a gauge if you don't want a floppy E string, because nobody wants that.
  9. Eleanor Rigby, 62 Stone, The Dolphin pub in Hastings, A bass I made through a Genz Benz Shuttle with Behringer BDI21 and Barefaced 2 x 10.
  10. They do look nice don't they.
  11. But with the doors closed you can't see them.
  12. I always go up a gauge on short scale basses and ended up with 50 - 110. Works for me.
  13. I've mounted a Genz-Benz shuttle 6 to my pedal board and plug my preamp, a BDI21 into the effects return and it's brilliant.
  14. Many thanks for all your input. I’ll have a look and see which I can get everyone to accept.
  15. I've seen this mentioned before but I can't find it. My question is, we need a band diary that can be accessed and edited by each band member. The problem is, iphones, android phones, Mac os and windows. Band members who won't use facebook because they don't want the government to know where they are. Other member who will only use their phones. I think you get the picture. Personally, I like a little book like thing with pages with dates on each page, it's called a diary but the aim is to go digital. Any ideas for a digital, cross platform diary. All help / advise gratefully accepted.
  16. Fishman fission bass powerchord f/x pedal. Superb bit of kit but you have to treat the fx output like a separate instrument. Separate amp and pedals, job done! This is it and while they don't have them in stock there are plenty around. https://www.hotroxuk.com/fishman-fission-bass-powerchord-fx-pedal.html
  17. As I started playing in 1965, nothing is really vintage and seems quite new and I can't believe the prices that are being asked for 'vintage' instruments and amps.
  18. got this through from NewTone. https://mailchi.mp/3a804555dc00/15-discount-code?e=dd489637a4
  19. Superb strings, 50-110 Diamond and stainless steel for me. The strings I've been trying to find for 55 years.
  20. If play fine with a pick, just use the pick and adjust your tone controls to the desired sound.
  21. I like the look of that but surprize, surprize, no left handed models. I won't be getting one then!
  22. Sounds like the speakers are out of phase to me.
  23. Most songs when the drummer gets excited!
  24. Apparently his violin bass has no side dot markers which means that he has to look at the front of the neck to see where he is on the neck making it more obvious that he's looking.
