  1. When I started playing, I was a 2 x 4x12 or 4 when I could afford it. Then when speaker technology improved, went to 2 x 4x10. Bought the first 6x10 that BF made and was astonished by how good it was. I was forced to sell it due to poverty but have since bought a BF 2x10 and am truly amazed that this little cab is so good. I don't need anything else, it's mighty and I'm not a quiet bass player. Anyone that doubts that a BF 2x10 is not enough to gig with should try one, you'll be amazed!
  2. I've got some, a P and a J. They're OK, not bad by any means and certainly value for money.
  3. In the 60s / 70s and 80s, a hundred watt Pa amp and a pair of 2 x 12s, or if you were rich enough a pair of 4 x 12s, was more than adequate. Don't worry.
  4. That's an earth loop. When two pieces of earthed equipment are connected together with a lead you can form an earth loop. The ground lift breaks the earth connection between them eliminating the loop and stopping the noise, all the equipment is still earthed through it's own earth so no safety hazzard.
  5. It depends. Are you thinking combos or head and cabinet? If you wants to go with valves, a 100 watts will be plenty. Transistors, 300 watts will be enough. If you want class d then at least 500 watts. I know people will come along and say a watt is a watt but real world experience says different.
  6. I think that EL34s sound the best.
  7. Ah, memories. I had one and it was the loudest Superbass in history. Bass, treble and presence on full, middle right off and volume to taste. Tone heaven.
  8. As soon as they release a left handed version I'll let you know.
  9. You don't live that far from the postman though. The price includes 24 hour postage via Royal Mail.
  10. I did say pluck.
  11. It also depends where you pluck it!
  12. The power amp input impedance is relevant as well.
  13. A few years ago my amp died, I didn't have a spare but had a Traynor 300w poweramp available. I plugged my bass into a Behringer bass graphic EQ pedal and then into the Traynor, it worked a treat, infact, it sounded great with plenty of headroom. You could always get a small mixer and use that as a preamp.
  14. I ummed and ahhed for weeks before deciding to sell this as it is a great amp but it's better being used rather than being looked at and admired.
  15. My Streamliner 900 is up for sale and if you’re reading this you know what a great amp it is. All working perfectly, including the blue LEDs and in good condition. The carry bag is a bit tatty but still does the job it was made to do. £395 posted. The manual is available here, https://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/106530/genz-benz-streamliner-900.html
  16. Strangely enough I have the same problem which means I can't play any bass without a body cut and even that is now swinging out of sight. My answer, go on a diet. I know, it's hard but I'm 'doing' the Fast 800 diet and it actually works! I've lost a stone and a half since 19th April and apart from my jeans now falling down on their own, it inspires to to carry on. Slab body basses here I come!
  17. The manual says, 300w into 8 ohms. Are you running risk of blowing the amp?
  18. I bought one new lefthanded in 1970, from Bell's catalogue and if I remember correctly, it wasn't bad. Apparently, they are going to make a lefthanded Saffire. If they do, I'll have one.
  19. No left handed so not me.
  20. How about just getting another van?
  21. Indeed, it is in St Leonards. Payment can be cash on collection, Paypal, bank transfer, I'm easy.
  22. Excellent!
