1.
You Sir, are a star. Just ordered a copper set from Bass Direct.
Pleasure, enjoy!👍
2. Labella Gold white tapewounds. They do Copper white tapes too.
3. http://youtu.be/ZX-pBCyNu20 Here's what one sounds like up against a USA Fender P. I can't imagine there being any difference rockin' out live with a band where you can eq it however you like.
4. A Fender classic 50s lacquer. http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/series/classic/classic-series-50s-precision-bass-lacquer-maple-fingerboard-black/
5. A Rickenbacker 4001 (seems to be a running theme!) Got a Fireglo, was so preciouss about it I never actually gigged it... Gollum! Bought a MM Stingray to gig with and never played the Ric again. Sold it then forgot about it. If I had the cash I would buy a Mapleglo 4003s though, just because. Never gonna happen now unfortunately.
6. Andy Rourke was the one and only bass player on all the recordings. Freaky musical skills for someone so young at the time.
7. I voted "get a proper job" because I had to buy my own bass at the age of 19 as no one else in the family played an instrument or even played records in the house. I knew I needed to do it so I did. I actually hid my bass and amp at a mates house for six months as the money used was supposed to pay for driving lessons! Turns out that I actually had a Grandfather who was a singer and quite tasty with a ukulele. Also an uncle I never saw is a great classical guitarist. I felt 'The Quickening' in my veins and had to obey! 😄

I think they're the same just this one has the logo printed, the other has a chrome logo stuck on. I had the chrome logo jazz pups on a Vintage fretless. Sounded really good. I picked the logo sticker off though.
9. I found these two vids helped me immensely : http://youtu.be/8F0pVPr4VYw (@2.22) http://youtu.be/VRkSsapYYsA Check 'em out!
10.
I bought the fretted version for the same price and it is a cracking bass. We both got massive bargains with these.
Nice one 👍. Interesting that some have found Harley Bentons to be heavy - my Prog 5 fretless weighs 8lbs dead. I also have a HB shorty P that only weighs 6 3/4lbs! That was a bit pricier though and cost a princely £70 delivered 😁
11. I had a Fender American jazz with a maple fingerboard (posiflex graphite rods) which I played for a decade so I knew it well. I then put a MIJ 62 Precision neck on it. Sounded like a different bass both acoustically and amped up. I voted 100% yes obvs.
12. Harley Benton HB550fl deko - £46 all in delivered. I just added a set of D'addario tapewounds and it's bloody brilliant! Some people have thought it's a 'boutique' bass and think I'm taking the pi$$ when I tell them how much it cost.
13. It's mind blowing what he (and the rest of the band) achieved so young. They were still pretty much kids playing way beyond their years weren't they?
14.
The strings of a dove, wah ho wah ho . The strings of a dove, wah ho wah ho...
Very good 😀
15. I heard Baggy Trousers for the first time in ages yesterday and was blown away by the tone of Bedders' P bass. Even better than I remember. Anyone know what strings he was using back then? Can't find much about his gear on't'web.
16.
I resisted the temptation to add Mustang Sally... Added a few of my faves, including Millionaire Waltz by Queen, which used to be my preferred warm up. Can't for the life of me play it now, though. Clearly the version on Spotify isn't at the original tempo. Ahem.
Barbarism Begins At Home.... Great choice!
17. I played TJ's once. We were supporting a reggae/rap band from London whose name escapes me now. The PA was bass heavy anyway that night and I will never forget the panic on the faces of the sound guys as they desperately tried to find the right slider when I stepped on my Sansamp for "extra dub" during our one reggae tune. I feel like I may have added to TJ's structural damage that night! Amazing what you can do with a little pedal and a 9v battery these days. 🙉
18. Couple of glaring Jaco omissions added
19. Out of the two you mention in particular, the answer is the new American Standard. They are very very good quality P basses right now. You know that you love P basses. If you try one and it feels really good to you then resale value probably won't come into it. It's hardly going to be a leap into the unknown.
20. Dave bought a nice set of Sadowsky flats off me and was super cool on the PMs as I couldn't post right away. He was very patient, a great chap to deal with. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again, either buying or selling. Many thanks Dave.
21. DR Hi-beam short scale 45-105 would suit you I reckon. Round core, so flexible and easy to play. Decent gauge for a sensible action, great string to string balance also. Best thing is they sound bloody fabulous! (short scale P bass user here) http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/strings-c1/dr-handmade-hi-beam-stainless-steel-bass-45-105-short-scale-p1208
22. Anvil! is definitely worth a watch. It's genuinely heartwarming. Although I'm not into metal I loved it.
23. Wow this is brilliant!! I've added Fine Flow by The Entrance Band. Paz Lenchantin on bass. Can't wait to wade through the whole playlist. Plenty there I've never heard of before.
24.
See you there at 11
I'll bring the tequila \m/
