1. Personally if this was going to be a good old hoot of a road trip and festival with some good mates, playing music I enjoy and I was getting fed and watered, costing me only what I was to lose by taking a day off work then I would go for it and have a rum old time making new memories. If it was looking like it's going to be a chore that was really going to cost me then not a chance I would do it. My 2d worth.
2.
Nice view of Google Earth there - those pickups must be huge
It will be a shame to see them go. They've become quite the landmark 'round these parts! 😁
3. Just as the title says. Bareknuckle rewind, comes with vintage cloth hookup wire (from the factory, the American Standard P5 pickup comes with plastic covered hookup wire). GREAT full sounding pickup which suits the low B nicely. Only selling as I want to try a Nordstrand NP5fv so I'm raising funds for that. Times is tight so it's one out, one in. *Edit* - £45 posted. (just realised that £45 is what I originally paid for this pup from our very own Molan. It was originally a custom wind for his pal Dave Swift, of Jools Holland's R&B Orchestra fame no less. Only fair I pass it on for the same). Cheers, Simon.
4. Squier VM P5 pickup with original wiring harness and knobs. Hardly used, never gigged. £30 posted
5. New unused tuners that came on my Squier VM P5. They come with the ferrules and screws which also are unused. Edit: £20 posted
6. I personally ordered this lightweight select alder '64 P-bass body from Martin Sims about 4 years ago. It's an exact CNC clone of a genuine '64 P-bass so the shape is correct. It weighs a titch under 4 and a half pounds, the lovely alder looks like it's bookmatched at the end grain, and it cost me £240 as a bare wood body (yep). I put it together into my dream P with equally tasty bits for my 40th bday treat... Just before I moved onto 5 strings and soon found I'd never be going back to 4 strings (as you do) Sooo, I parted out the tasty bitsa.. except this body, which was really resonant (that P sounded amazing, Fralins et al ..)and a fantastic platform for another build one day. Never going to happen with me now so I just want it gone to release some funds but also to free my mind from umming and ahhing what I'm going to do with it! BTW I had it drilled for a Fender HMV bridge (with no strings thru on the body) so you could put another straight on, or indeed if you wanted a regular 5 hole Fender bridge etc. the centre hole is there as a guide so that should be straight forward too. I was going to refinish it natural and only got so far in rubbing it back until the project finally stalled for good. So. Yours for £50 posted. Cheers, Simon.
7. I say just let it go and keep quiet incase it ends up stuffing up the deko joy for us all!
8.
I've never really been a fan of Precisions, but after installing a P pickup in my Jazz bass and then borrowing an old Japanese Ibanez Precision copy for a month long tour...I developed a taste for them! Hence my newest purchase, this 1988 MIJ Fender 57RI (in my favourite colour).
Lovely P. Nice pooch!
9.
Ahh.... ok. Thanks. So we're not looking for a faulty component or dry joint then. I'm sure it can be fixed with a capacitor across the switch, or the battery. It's just a matter of finding out what size that needs to be. The other solution could be to make it passive and take the pre' out.
Yup mine does it too. I just turn the knob down, then pull (fnarr).
10. It does actually say on the product page just under the string gauges that Dunlop strings can't be shipped outside the USA. Same goes for Ernie Ball strings. Most others are OK. It's not BSO fault, it's the particular manufacturer's trade contracts with their overseas dealers that rules it out. Had a couple of PMs with Jason of BSO about it once.
11.
Cheers Keith & G. it would be a 5-er I'm interested in.
My Prog fretless 5 weighs in at 8lb 5oz in old money.
12.
This is excellent though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alhbjjD_4-4
That is absolutely feckin' fantastic!! 🙌
13. When the lightweight head vibrations became unpleasant for me, instead of turning to further medication I just quit smoking the bongs.
14.
That's a fair point, but I would estimate that every performer who releases a music video of their single, is not playing live on it, unless stated.
Yes that's true. Because of the busking-like nature of this one, I probably missed that it's their "official" DIY vid if you will. Anyway, who are these girls? All I've read is that they're talented and French. Does anyone know the band's name?
15.
Get out! Ya joking!.....well i never! i was wondering how they made that cello sound like a double bass near the end, and how i could hear that shaker despite no mics! You'll be telling me that they mime in music video's next!
They mime in music videos. 😝 Yes, Lord Sausage, of course it's obvious. It's just that from the comments above, some people seemed to be missing that bit.
16.
So what if they are miming? It's not like they are miming to someone else singing !
Well anyone can mime to their own perfect studio track with a few different takes punched together. I'm just not into miming. If they're going to stand/sit there and mime sing and play, they might as well just sing and play. I do like the track but I'll reserve my judgement of how talented they really are until I see them doing it live.
17. Erm, they're miming, not playing live though y'know. Very good track though.
18.
As much as I love Wal basses I do agree the headstocks are less than pleasing to the eye. Still want one right enough.
Wal headstocks are one of the very few that I do actually like. Bucket list bass... One day it will be mine... Oh yes.
19.
Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was 17? No, its because your in Scotland
Classic! 😂 Now for a serious question.. Does Humor Belong In Music?
20. https://m.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_b_550_black_progressive_series.htm?o=14&ref=mal_a_14&search=1440005315 I have the fretless version of this bass. It's blown me away and feels and sounds so good. £105!! 🙌 (and it's black. \m/)
21. The USA subs are wide like USA Stingrays (same bass but with a slab body and cheaper to manufacture finish) If you want a slim jazz neck 'ray it'll have to be a SBMM SUB ray or plump up the dough for a USA SLO special.
22. Yep. Got so much GAS still for an unlined fretless P since I discovered the YouTube vids of yours WOT, so much that I'm going to get an ebony board fitted on my Squier P5... Crazy? Who cares! (all your fault though 😉)
