This is my current rig, which doesn't see action outside the flat these days Fender MIM Precision with a Wizard Thumper, straight into an Ashdown EVO II ABM 300, with an Ashdown ABM 210T. I love it!
Sweet setup! Has someone sanded off the Fender logo though?

Mine's 4mm between the fret and the string Maybe I play with more force than I thought! It seems on the low side to me... EDIT: Thats on my 4... On my 5 string the B string is about 6mm and on my 6 string my low A is about 8mm ...Maybe I should give em a bit of a setup

Daisy Rock - How bored does she look?
chrismuzz replied to KiOgon's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
She's bored because bass is a boring instrument, DUH -
Sold Stevie an EHX Bass Big Muff recently, super smooth transaction and a proper nice guy. Cheers!
-
Cheers Stevie! I do pretty much pack stuff with whatever I can find... If I'm lucky there'll be some bubble wrap, but it's usually boxes from Lush with that nice girly soapy smell and multicoloured polystyrene 'wotsits', and wrapped in Christmas paper with a bunch of sellotape! I'm a friendly guy most of the time but not THAT friendly
£56? You spent £56??? You could buy two rounds of drinks in a London pub for that ...
Only if half of your mates are tee totallers!
My mate has a Caddilac - not the one with the classic "Dean" V headstock. It is a very nice guitar I'm sure my wife would disagree at length with you. Worse thing is just bought a neck from an old Jap Precision copy, and it's actually a Jazz neck.. you can see where this is going...
The more basses you own the less chance there is of you wanting to spend more of her shoe fund on extending your collection.... Maybe?
I'm getting this all wrong though - i sell two as I have too many, then buy three...LOL
If you end up with more basses you're definitely moving in the right direction

For that price you can't go wrong, even if I do hate Deans

Markbass disappointment..............ok, but not great.
chrismuzz replied to EmmettC's topic in Amps and Cabs
The cabs are definitely more 'middy' than any others I've tried. With some basses it can have an unpleasant effect but in the mix it always works nicely. Still, I prefer to use a little VPF filter to smooth out the offending frequencies and I always like the sound before adding pedals to the mix. BTW the piezo tweeters in the combos are different to the HF drivers in the standard series cabs. Many say they're fizzy and unmusical! I still turn mine to just above halfway anyways and it sounds great to me! I must say the sound of MB heads through Ampeg, Ashdown, or other more organic sounding cabinets is much nicer (when soloed). But in a band mix that lush sound nearly always vanishes -
I like the sound of the string hitting the frets when I pluck hard. it's part of my sound, so I like a lower action so that I don't have to play every note with maximum strength! I don't have it THAT low though because otherwise I'd get choking and rubbish sustain... It's probably about 4mm
-
I usually turn up before the guitarists and I'm always the first to set up, so it's first dibs for me! I always stand to the right hand side of the drummer (far right of stage). No particular reason other than personal preference!
Before we know it, every bass player will be a little weedy skinny dude with an ipod amp and a plastic bass as the proper pro gear is just too heavy waaa waaa.
I'll have you know I was skinny and weedy way before I could afford my Markbass rig I think my main bass weighing almost 20lbs makes up for it though!! -
5 string players - what gauge strings do you use?
Oh and a random note...also cause of hand pain? Too much Vitamin A...True story. :-P
+10000 I was on acne medication that was basically high amounts of Vitamin A and it made all my joints ache incredibly. It also causes muscle breakdown. I was advised not to exercise or even play bass for about a year! -
Anderton's do! I got my Stageclix there on the 9 months 0% interest thing. And you don't have to be under 25 either!
-
Haha, if only! Most I've ever taken home from a gig wa £40 and I was there for 5 hours in all!!

chrismuzz replied to TRBboy's topic in Bass Guitars
I actually use 50 - 110 on my 4 string and have never encountered any pain. I do however on my 5 string with lighter gauge strings because i haven't set it up properly! Most of the time you get more pain due to the action being too high, than using too heavy a gauge... Remember, on a properly setup bass you can achieve a much lower action with heavy gauge strings! -
Recently strung my Viger Arpege with the DR DDTs heavy gauge which is 55-135. It works fine for tuning a whole tone down. I would have thought that they would have at least had a 140 or more for B, but the 135 works fine for A though, which is as low as I need. Still the 55 and 75 are fairly tight at F and C respectively but eminently usable. Personally I think something like 50 - 70 - 95 - 115 - 140 would have been a lot more balanced but I have found it difficult to source many five string sets with anything bigger than a 105 on the E string. I might stick with the DRs as the tone is way better than what I was using (even when I was tuned to standard), but the cost is seriously offputting. Before that I was pretty much a 45 -130, with it usually being Rotosound or Ernie Ball.
I got Newtone to make me a custom balanced set for my bass in A. The bottom string is a .152! They would probably work out a lot cheaper than DR's too so theyre definitely worth a go -
My first guitar was an old Squier Strat that was given to me in 2001. Never fancied a change!

You should kick all their arses (or asses ) by makin an all maple bass with a maple fretboard
Ahem, back to pedal boards for a sec, go get a room chaps.
Very nice dude! Don't think I've seen a Boss pedalboard case used so well! Didn't notice the Polytune Mini for ages!
The first 3 are ascending, the last one descending. That's it, isn't it?
That's what I got too, took me a good few listens though!
