I live in south east London, near Greenwich. You can come have a look if you want, I'm only selling it because I don't play anymore. I only played casually with my mates, and stopped playing when I went to uni.
Bloody hell that's a nice bass you bought for casual playing! Be careful... if you hang around long enough you'll eventually withdraw the sale, start playing again... And end up buying MORE basses
Did the local Carnival again yesterday lunch time. Despite the weather poor mis-management as always, and our set going down from 45 minutes to 15 because of late bands rocking uop when they want and taking for ever to set up a frigging keyboard. The actual show was decent, nice turn out and we played well, sound on stage was good, sound FOH was good, no masive mistakes on anyones part. The likely hood of going wrong with 3 songs is slim though. Wish we could have done a few more though. It was also the first outing for my dual MarkBass TRV102P rig. If I'm honest I've been a little dissappointed with it's performance in my bedroom, but as we all now it's on the gig where it matters. And this does exactly what I wanted it to do and sounds excellent and massive. Didn't need it balring out and the sound guy was happy enough to have it as the only bass monitoring oinstage. I had nothing in my wedge and could still here everything perfectly mixed. sound on stage has definitly made my mind up about keeping this, and even though one is heavier than the amazing Barefaced compact, the small form factor more than makes up for portabality. I managed to get from the house to the van iin one trip. Just need to fine tune the effects department. Very happy being a markbass fan boy right now.
Awesome I found this with Markbass cabs too, when it sounds perfect to you onstage it's perfect for everyone out front! I rarely have any bass in the monitors or even PA support of any kind
Markbass heads push out the lows more and more as the volume goes up!
Yeah! I've nearly fallen over onstage before because my feet vibrated to the point where I couldn't feel them anymore

... You have tinnitus and a bad back.

First gig with our new drummer last night! Apart from a couple of slip-ups with song endings the whole thing went without a hitch. Got a great reaction and I even got complimented on my bass playing and tone by somebody who normally doesn't take much of an interest in the instrument... Result! It made the night shift in a boring office that followed very manageable

Welcome Dodfather! That's a mighty fine setup you've got yourself there

Anyone tried a 5string and not like them? And why?
chrismuzz replied to Marvin's topic in General Discussion
it's just practice. Time on the instrument sorts most things. I never found the B string a problem, more for me was the D and G strings with right hand plucking.
Same as. Plus when I first migrated from a 4 string to a 6 I would constantly pluck the wrong string -
and if that Hartke cab really does this: Frequency Response: 20 Hz to 17 kHz I'll sell all my bass gear on here for £1
It'll still reproduce it, as will a lot of other cabs... Just VERY little. And you wouldn't be able to hear it anyway!
You maybe have a hidden-undeveloped phobia of odd numbers, I believe that's why I can't get along with 4 or 6 strings...
I hope not! I'll never be able to play in unnecessarily complicated time signatures -
When I think of a crap bassist I think of someone who plays out of time, out of key, or really sloppily. As unexciting as a lot of mainstream music's basslines are I find it hard to say that the person playing them is crap. I prefer solid root notes with a great tone, than sloppy scale running farts any day! And that's coming from a prog metal 6 string bass w***er

Weirdly I prefer 4 strings and 6 strings to 5ers -
Majority of what we hear isn't the true fundamental, it's more second and thrid harmonics, that are well within the range of any decent cab. You'll hear just about any note in the range fine with pretty much any cab. A cab probably has the ability to produce 30hz but 30hz when it's full pelt, and keeping up wioth the mids. Not likely. The answer to the OP's question is really, what ever takes your fancy mate. BUT! if you really do need that super dooper low end, because you are relying on the cab for all the bass sounds ina room, and the music really does need a power true bottom(synthy dubstep stuff a la' Our Helical Mind) then barefaced is the only cheap and viable option, but you also have to have the power to push that low end too. the maths suggest you need a good 1000watt power amp into a big twin to get decent SPL out of lower than 50hz or so.
This. The way I read the frequency range specs are that the lower the number, the more BASS you get out of the cab! I often have to turn the lows down a little bit because mine throws out so much!

Another reply from them!
Hello Chris, Hearing your experiences, it seems that you indeed have a faulty system. I do not want to claim we are faultless, it is just such a rare phenomenon and it ‘sounded’ like an occurence some time ago where the bass power amplifier had such a ‘dirty’ power supply that it interfered with the system. The stageclix itself was not the problem, and split power supplies solved the issue. Now we need to determine if it is the transmitter or receiver. Could you test to ‘short’ the input, that is short circuiting it with a wire or tin foil and switch on the transmitter? When the noise does not decrease, it is probably the receiver. When it does, the noise surpression of the transmitter migth be broken. We will replace the transmitter and you should be fine! Thanks, ******
Interesting, I never knew the transmitter had a noise suppressor in it! Does anybody here know how exactly I can short circuit the input? I'm not very tech savvy. Thanks in advance!

It's absoutely fine as both will be getting 250w... I would prefer NOT to run the Aguilar on its own though as the head would be running about 300w at 8 ohms which will be over its limit. It shouldnt be a problem unless you're playing at full blast but as always its better to be on the safe side, and use the Ashdown

My Markbass 104HF can handle a low A with ease, and they sometimes go for £500 or less used. It says on the specs that it 'goes down to' 30Hz which is about a low B ... but as above it doesnt actually matter so much! I've got a low A out of a 60Hz cab and it sounded fine!

"Real bass players don't use picks"
No. The guitarist equivelant usually complain about guitars not being in standard tuning. Or breakdowns.
Don't get me started on drop tunings! -

Nobody rips on guitarists for using a pick OR fingers, funny that! -

This is ridiculously true. It's a review of the bass not a review of how many clicky sounds you can make on it. That's why Ed Friedland does the best reviews because he does a variety of finger/pick/slap style -
