1. One advantage of pick playing is that you are less likely to be a snob about it
 2. The BDI21 will by far be the cheapest option, and they sound ace! Even if you don't like it you haven't spent much finding that out and they're dead easy to shift Theres a bit of a mid scoop built into it (I actually like the voicing though), and also a clean blend!
 3.
Chrismuzz if that really is your Mrs, all round yours for dinner sometime!!!
I fear not for much longer now Louis is on the scene
 4. And my reply:
Hi ******, thanks for getting in touch! In the video as you could see I was testing the unit with my pedals, sharing the power supply with them. I also tested the Stageclix using the power supply that came with it (with no other units sharing the supply), directly from my bass and directly into my amp with no change unfortunately. The level of noise when running through my pedalboard with all effects disengaged is usually zero if I use a cable, and the amount of noise WITH the Stageclix system was identical on and off the pedalboard. I even tried running the signal through an audio interface, and through a pair of AKG Studio Headphones. The level of noise was not as high as they did not have a frequency response of up to 20kHz like my bass speaker cabinet does, but it was still very much there. I also tested the unit at a band rehearsal studio a couple of days ago and the results were the same. I purchased the unit on the strength of the many positive reviews I have heard and read about, and even since getting the problem I have spoken to other bass players who own a unit themselves. All three of which are overjoyed and have said that their Stageclix systems are 100% silent. This is what makes me wonder if I have been unlucky enough to receive a faulty unit. is there anything else you can suggest? Thanks, Chris

 5.
Hi Chris, This is *****, one of the designers of the system. Hope I can do something to help. Sometimes, noise can be transferred in the effect chain by coupling of power supply lines etc. Also, some effects still have circuitry active even when they are switched ‘off’. Could you please check the stageclix set – without- any effects, so straight from the jack receiver to the amp? Also, remove power supplies from other effects. Sometimes the power supply or power supply wires are the source of interference, so really just the set, away from any other equipment. When the noise is still present, we will take it from there. When the noise is gone, we can start adding effects and power supplies untill we determine which part is causing the noise. Sometimes it is just the way systems are interfering with each other. One more thing: bass amplifiers themselves can generate a lot of noise too as modern amplifiers contain switching power supplies. So the amplifiers itself or the power cable going to the amplifier might be the noise source too. I have seen this kind of issues with equipment not being compatible with each other. Sometimes it is as simple as re-routing power cables or change power supplies. Please let me know if this helps! Best regards, ******
6.
I'm always amazed that relatively intelligent people, when asked to pick out instruments on a recording, sometimes can't tell a bass guitar, from a banjo, or a saxophone from a piano . They just know it's music and have no idea where it comes from and have very little understanding that human beings are responsible for the end product coming out of their hi fi or radio. Try it...... ask a non musician friend or relative to name the instruments they can hear on a tune on the radio you'll be amazed at the answers you get.
When I was a teenager I had no idea what a bass was
 7. Done it too! Hope it goes well
 8. The material doesn't matter as long as it's strong enough not to break on you, and doesn't feel like broken glass on your shoulder
 9.
I use a pick and have never had any complaints over my playing. Surely what matters more is what the player is more comfortable using?
Definitely! I love the sound of a Stingray played with a pick through an SVT stack... Instead I play a Peavey with my fingers through a bunch of pedals and a Markbass rig (gets me pretty close, with a little extra personal touch!) My rule of thumb is to play what feels right, then work on the sound!
 10. It definitely helps to keep 'good posture' when playing, as you're essentially carrying a big piece of wood for an extended time! Keeping your back straight/upright as much as possible is pretty much the best advice to give here. And of course, make sure that sitting/standing with your instrument is comfortable. I used to get sharp pains in my right shoulder when playing for long periods of time but after trying to teach myself good habits, and building up muscle they eventually faded Also if your bass is particularly heavy you may want to invest in a wider strap, makes a big difference actually!!
 11.
IIRC in a completely hypothetical world, a 500w amp at 4ohms would run 250w at 8ohms. In the real world though it's not that simple. I can't remember why though.
Yeah it's weird! Because surely when you have two cabs they both 'get' 250w each
 12.
I pick my nose
You must have MASSIVE nostrils
 13.
I would like to add that or beloved seller has been posting from a domestic cable connection from a well known media company. Not a 3G connection as one would expect in a pub.
Maybe he owns the pub! That would explain how he's making a profit there on a Friday night If they have live bands on that might explain how he (dodgily or not) got hold of such a lovely bass
 14. It's very demanding, expensive, and difficult to make a living from... even if the actual playing live part is a hell of a lot of fun!
 15.
I think a lot of people just assume because they use one they can't play with fingers, which is just silly
I can't play with a pick
Does anyone really believe that? Seriously?
Yep, as I said above I genuinely did for ages
 16.
Finally got my board together this week (apologies for poor quality iphone pic...) Signal chain is: Volume pedal > OC-2 > Sansamp > PH-3 > DD-6 > CS-3 > Whammy > Meat Box Tom
Great board! The OC-2 and meatbox together must be terrifying
 17. hey Louis, my missus has been peering over my shoulder and she's decided she's sick of living with some sad lowlife bass enthusiast... She thinks you're really awesome and cool. Thanks a lot
 18. I used to think pick players were inferior. I've grown up a bit now though... Still play with fingers though, and i'm NOT a real bassist
 19. This is actually really cool! Have a bump purely because I've never seen anything like this for guitar before!
 20.
+1 Always stick compression at the end of your chain...
I always stick compression at the start of my chain. It's not that difficult to ensure that your pedals are running at unity gain... plus how are you gonna get an occasionally needed volume boost?
 21. nothing wrong with having different channels... But two EQs in a row?
 22.
You've made a [s]temporary[/s] permanent repair to [s]clothing[/s] your car with gaffer tape.
Yep thats more like it!
 23.
...you pretend to like all types of music and refuse to give an opinion on a recent pop record preferring instead to make a non-committal remark on the production standards. Fiancée: "Tinie Tempah's amazing" Me: "yeah, I really enjoy his syncopated vocal style and I like the drum volume." Truckstop
Yay! I do this
 24. Saw this ages ago, this kids got crazy skills whatever your tastes are. Hopefully as he gets older his ability (and taste/feel/musicality) will only improve!
