1. Mavericks don't seem to be very well known, but the guitarist in Generations uses one and they're bloody nice guitars! Pretty damn cool looking too
2. FWIW the Markbass Classic cabs look f***ing cool. Not ported though, and i haven't tried one before
3.
Mate, I remember a few years ago a bloke in the states was going to build a 24 string bass (no double courses or anything, 24 single strings) but had to scrap it because he got a $1000 fine for drunk driving lol.
Presumably the same night he had this brainwave
4.
this makes me happy! is the cab an easy lift? andy
I'm a bit of a weakling but I can easily lift it above my head! It's very large which can be a bit awkward, but the worst I've ever done is bounced a corner off a wall
5. As far as wattage goes... My markbass rig consists of a 500w head with one 8 ohm front ported 4x10. I have never had to turn the volume up to halfway on a gig before
6. Great review! I'm surprised to hear you didn't get an email response from Markbass though, their always been great to me even when I feel like I'm pestering them! When did you send it?
7.
That's what I hate about bass amps- you want to show them off and put them through their paces at gigs but you always end up having to use whatever crap is at the venue lol.
Luckily sound guys always let me use the DI on my head
8. Looks like a bass, sounds like a bass, plays like a bass, played through a bass rig. That's good enough for me
9.
i personally quite like the yellow/black scheme Markbass have going on. i'm not one who usually falls for aesthetics when buying bass gear but the black/yellow was what made me take notice the Markbass stuff. like a bold Lamborghini if you will.
I like it too! Someone once referred to my rig as 'the wasp'. I think with the amount of 'sting' you can get from the upper mid and treble presence it's a pretty good name
10. Dude just whack the VLE and VPF up, instant Ampeg sound
11.
He was that good, eh?
Compared to the other guy he plays quietly enough to sleep through, so yes!
12. Yeah the video basically summed up everything it's taken me 9 years to learn And I'm not too heavily into the solo bass world, but I do like to learn tips and tricks from the guys who are and then use them myself badly
13. The usual blisteringly awesome stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noZiEJgwQrc
14. Finally got the video embedded! not sure why it didnt work... Enjoy!
15.
Hahaha! Thats great Big Stu! As we say at Warwick & Framus: If you can dream it, we can build it! lol. Today we're things more along these lines...made for Devin Townsend Thanks for the laugh!!
WOW! When was this made? I thought Devin had a Peavey endorsement? has he moved?
16.
PS, and before the pedants chime in... ... but I fully expect a row over this to thunder on for at least a week. Let's be 'aving ye...
Thanks for clearing that up. "Here Here" really grates me
17. If cabinets are provided at a venue and you have a seperate head and cab, it makes your carrying job even easier
18. If you're moving around a lot maybe a good sounding budget combo would be a better choice
19. Maybe Bass players are more obsessed with music/bass/gear than, say, guitarists, who are more interested in impressing non-musos with their newest pointy thing
20. Why not combine the best of both worlds and have a niche metal drumming forum called BassDrumChat? EDIT: Or even DoubleBassDrumChat?
21.
Bypass mode on a Boss TU maybe??
Yep those things are a godsend! I had a Korg Pitchblack before I got my Zoom B3 which also has a silent tuning mode
22.
f*** 'em. They're just jealous. I mean what have they got? General guitar forums are mostly pants, so they have to traipse off to sites like MyLesPaul where they can argue about bumblebee caps and long-tongue neck joints. Just as 'geeky' as here, if not moreso. But do they lend each other gear? Do they look out for someone if they haven't posted for a while? Do they get together off-site for organised beers and bashes? Do they bollocks. And I stand by my earlier post. If someone takes the piss out of someone else for what they like, they're in line for a (metaphorical) fat lip, afaic.
This is a very angry post for you man! Very true though this is the only website I ever recommend to fellow musicians whether they be bass players or not
23. Considering that just a 2x10 cabinet will cost you more than £600 new, this is a wicked deal! My first experience with Markbass was with one of these too and I fell in love immediately
24. Falling asleep during the audition for our new drummer
