1. I usually play with fingers but if I decide to mess around with a pick I prefer them to be thinner than a credit card
2.
Anyone want to split??
Hey dude, I will if it's not too late!
3. Slightly OT...Did they ever make a passive-only version?I know they had ones with an active/passive switch but...I refuse to own any active basses because i'm a little odd like that
4.
I do every rehearsal, sounds amazing. It is a shame the ampeg weighs the same as a baby elephant.
I've been playing bass 9 years and have never actually had the displeasure of lifting one! The fact that my ridiculously massive 104HF weighs less than my old Laney 2x10 combo tells me I'm not exactly losing out here
5. I get the impression that they're trying to overcompensate for the fact that they're too sh*t to actually play the original song.
6. If it's a good store, you also get informed opinions and advice, and the opportunity to try out a bunch of other stuff while you're there.
7.
T-40s are incredible basses. I have two (one blade one toaster). I really don't know what to say about them other than incredible. I favour the blade because of the sculpted body shape, it has more bite too, while the toaster is warmer.
Thanks for this, I was wondering what the difference between the two were. Sounds like the blade is much more up my alley, looks the best too!
8. Played guitar for a few years, but always was interested in bass due to my uncle being a long time player... My best mate needed a bassist, and I no longer needed an excuse!
9. Quite possibly the best sounding bass you will ever get for £400! I played a ltd edition one with two gigantic single coil pickups. Makes a Stingray sound like a child's toy
10. Peaveys have great B strings.. even my International Series that I picked up for £100 and thats a 34" scale! Depending on your budget there's a pretty decent variety right up to the top of the range US made Cirrus series (with 35" scale). They're all wonderful to play, solidly built and sound pretty damn cool too
11. I've got an old Squier Strat, no plans to change it as it's still wonderful to play
12. Orange basses can look so so wrong... Not this one!
13.
I've tried one of these and it was as clear as a bell without a trace of hiss at all. I was able to make it distort with a very powerful active bass with all the onboard tonal options whacked on full. I'd never do this in actual playing situation though so it wouldn't bother me.
Cheers for the input buddy, a small ray of hope that i might just have received a dodgy one! Though part of me is hoping it's just my wireless router interfering with it... That's the one variable i forgot to test...
14.
Ever tried a zodiac dude or a T40? Both are perhaps the only Peavey's I'd own
Heard both, never played them... I'd love to get my hands on a T-40 though!
15. Who's Ken? Does he like Peavey basses too? I do, I own three basses and they're all Peaveys! EDIT: Not Ken Smith I take it
16. I've been extensively googling and it seems there are one or two others out there who have had the same issues as me, which were identified by Stageclix as faulty units. They said they'd been sent replacements, but stopped posting before actually saying if the replacement unit actually worked properly. Bugger! I've fired an email off to them anyways to see what they say! Looks like I'm gonna be wired for some considerable time
17. Well, mine finally arrived this morning.... The first thing I noticed when plugging it in was that there's a constant INCREDIBLY LOUD hissing sound through my cab. I tried the unit daisy chained on my pedalboard power supply with pedals after it in he signal chain. I then tried unplugging all pedals from the supply, and just running the wireless to the amp, and then I tried using the power supply that came with the Stageclix... Both with AND without pedals in the signal chain. No change! This is with a passive bass too! I A/B'd with cable/stageclix and there is no noise at all when using a cable... Also, I'm not sure if i'm imagining it or not but the bass tone seemed a tiny bit thinner than when using the cable? Really disappointed with this as I'd been GASing for this thing for as long as I can remember, and after waiting a month for it I find out it's pretty much useless... Have I got a faulty unit? Or are they really this bad?
18. Thanks for the insight anyways!
19. Even though I always loved the sound and the look, Ive never played a Warwick that I liked... All of this is making me want to find one!
20.
Just thought I'd give you guys some insight on this.....
Hey Mark, hope my last post didn't look like I was complaining about the store. You guys have done everything you should have done and more. And hey I should get something awesome in the post tomorrow! I'll be happy to order from Andertons again sometime
21. Ernie Ball used to be my nickel string of choice, even back when they were £25 a set! Newtone strings are highly recommended too
22. Congratulations dude! Just don't play it through your Ampeg 6x10... You'll want to keep it!
23. PMT Northampton are definitely the worst. They try to sell you damaged gear that you don't even like in the first place, while telling you that your favoured brands are crap and their staff are quite happy to make up cock and bull stories to try and look cool
24. Called up Anderton's today because my Stageclix Jack delivery date kept being changed, and it was supposed to arrive at the store today. I had it on back order which I was fully aware of before paying for it btw it seems like it was all due to their supplier messing them around (I came to this conclusion, I wasn't given this as a half arsed excuse!). Anyways Jon investigated and it had actually arrived today! And since I had ordered it just over a month ago, I was assured that my order would be upgraded to next day delivery.. Result! Definitely pleased with the service, however I would advise against ordering any out of stock items if you're in a hurry
