I love using it too, very dramatic!

As above, see what types of effects you like by experimenting with the Zoom first of all, it'll save you a lot of money and hassle on things you might not dig. Personally I could not do without a tuner, compressor, and overdrive, but everything else i mostly give or take... I use a bit of chorus sometimes on quieter passages to fill them out though. Octavers are fun too!

That is really weird!! I had to listen to them over and over again individually to get them (what I think is) right!

I dunno... Jaguargate was pretty good

Stageclix. Even though I've had some issues with mine it's the most convenient and transparent sounding bit of kit on the market. Their customer service guys are great too, very helpful. Same for their UK distributors, MTR Audio!

Is an '8 X 10' equivalent to a '1 X 80'?? Eh??

A square speaker? Would that even work? -
Depends on the pedal's original price, the availability, and the popularity. Sansamp's always seem to go for about 60% of the price, but EHX pedals are a bit more, and you'll be lucky to save 10% on a Korg Pitchblack!
I hope the guys at Stageclix will get it sorted to your satisfaction
They seem to be trying their best to, same goes for Tony Reeves up there! Cheers
Chris - this is Tony Reeves from MTR Ltd, the distributors of stageClix. There is absolutely no way that you should be getting the hiss that you describe. You are either using it wrongly - which I very much doubt - or there is a fault. I am surprised that you have not been back to dealer from whom you bought it. However, please send just the transmitter and receiver (no need for the rest of the kit) back to me at MTR, very carefully packed, address on the website: www.mtraudio.com I'll check it out, and if I find the same thing I'll send you replacements. Best, Tony Reeves
Hey Tony, that's really cool of you thanks. I didn't go back to the dealer as I wanted to speak to somebody from the company first instead. They have been quite helpful in all fairness and I have managed to reduce the problem significantly. Also because it took me well over a month to receive this one, I didn't fancy my chances of getting a replacement any time soon! I'll send it on to you in the next few days so you can have a look at it anyways, cheers!

Very Expensive - but rare as hens teeth.

That looks pretty badass, very fitting name! -
Hello Chris, When the noise level stays the same with and without transmitter powered on, it is the remaining noise of the digital circuitery and/or power supply noise. Power supply noise can come from various sources. Especially with bass amplifiers this can be the interaction between the power supply amp en the effects chain. There will be a residue of the stageclix inernal circuitry noise but this should be close to nothing. When you know anyone with a stageclix system, you could try swapping the receivers. Then it is important to have the same version ofcourse. This way you can verify if the behaviour of your receiver is ‘normal’. After this, you can check your wiring. Does it make a difference where you put your cable and does the noise change when the setup changes? I had a case once where it would actualle make a difference when the bass player was facing the amp, because of the interference coming from the amp. Let me know your thougths. Best regards, ******
Phew, that was a mission! So um.. Anybody got a Stageclix Jack version II that isn't noisy?
You've been incredibly patient with this.
Haha thanks man! I'd always wanted to go wireless but I was put off by the limitations like frequency range, interference, changing batteries etc... This seemed like the PERFECT solution on paper, truly the only wireless kit I'd be fully comfortable using. I guess the reason I'm being so patient is because I'm desperate for it to be everything I hoped! I've actually managed to use it on gigs using a gate aswell! Hope all this sacrifice pays off

I thought this thread was going to be about 5 string basses -
5 string players - what gauge strings do you use?
chrismuzz replied to TRBboy's topic in Bass Guitars
When using light gauges my fretting hand goes all over the place, bending strings and making a huge mess, can't do it! Serves me right for using a .152 for so long EDIT: In hindsight... my fretting hand going all over the place, bending strings and making a huge mess is actually pretty normal for me -
Anyway, *real* bass players use bows ;-)
A group of us should start playing electric bass with a bow, that would upset some people -
Im the only person who voted for 0.125" so far then, pink Ernie Ball super Slinkys
I used to use those tuned down half a step on a 34" scale bass... How the hell I managed that I'll NEVER know! -
If the noise stops completely when you turn the transmitter off, then it's that, and not the receiver causing it... Apparently there's a noise suppressor actually built into the transmitter!
-
I compared the difference simply by turning off the power to the reciever
And theres noticeably more hiss than with a cable right? And if you are running from Guitar > Stageclix > amp: does the noise subside when you press the button on the transmitter to turn it off?
-
... going direct I was still getting problems.
When just going direct would you say the hiss is still loud? Mine isnt but it's still noticeably more so than using a cable at anything near gigging level
-
Just for the record I'm not using mine with a bass. Just a standard 6 string passive guitar.
Sent you a PM btw mate!

I got my one from Anderton's. They had to order it in for me as they'd run out so it's brand new. I got it at the beginning of June. I discovered that the majority of the noise is actually coming from having my Zoom B3 on the same power supply daisy chain as everything else... I'm going to get a Virtual Battery to isolate that and sort it out However there IS still a noticeable degree of noise coming from the Stageclix, even when on its own power supply and without pedals in the chain. It's not loud but you can definitely tell its there. Been troubleshooting with one of the designers and we've found out its the receiver and not the transmitter making the noise. Shep, didn't you say using a True Bypass pedal right after the Stageclix causes loud popping sounds? That might be what's happening to John. Sounds like he's having even more hiss than me though! If you say yours is quieter than a cable then I must have a duff one too!

chrismuzz replied to TRBboy's topic in Bass Guitars
On a 35" scale in standard tuning I like .045 - .130, if it's 34" scale then I go to the next gauge up. This is with hex core strings which are a bit stiffer already! -
ampeg 610hlf PRICE DROP! all trades considered!
Hi Andy, I'd be interested to try it out I'm in Torquay. Maybe we could meet. How does it sound with MB head? I have F500 amongst lots of other kit!! Mstk
I've used an F1 head through a 610HLF before... Awesome! All of that ampeggy goodness but with a much cleaner, tighter, and more aggressive sound if you want it! I almost got rid of my Markbass cab after I heard the sound with the Ampeg! -
Might be a stupid suggestion, but could one of the frets be slightly raised/loose? Also check if the wood on the neck has any knots in it... Over time these can dry out and cause microscopic warps in the neck
-
Interesting... Never had an endorsement myself but ontop of my two current bands I am getting involved in a project later this year that has a record deal and an album on the way... Might be time to pop a email to Peavey, Markbass, et a soon..l
